Pern. A prison. A glorious choice.

Jamarin leaned away with a surprised chuckle.
It was a very womanly thing to say, he thought, one that he hadn't expected to come out of this one's mouth. Did anything go with the garish prisoner orange? He had no idea, not having ever really cared about these things, but he was sure one of his sisters would have... several... opinions about this.
Did anything go with a bruise for that matter?
"... Ya, they definitely clash..." he had been caught off guard by her wit. He had been expecting fear, cowering, maybe a bit of diplomacy, since she seemed to be a Harper brat. "I guess" He leaned back against the chair, no longer facing her.
"Na, Not gonna hurt you. Got no reason to hit you just yet. I'd upset this guy over here." he nudged Jamisk's tail with a foot.

Jamisk laid his head on Luthradi's lap. She gave good skritches!

<... Sure.>
Frankly, everybody was Jamisk's friend. Either he was a terrible judge of character, or Jamarin was, because to Jamarin very few people were worth actually befriending. Saying hi to in the hall, sure, but actually giving a s**t about?

Naaaaah.

But why not let the wher be happy. Happy wher=happy feelings over the bond= not too bad for Jamarin all told.

commented Jamisk to Jamarin privately. He had to declare it! She was nice.

It might have held more weight if Jamisk hadn't declared that of any remotely decent person he had met.
muttered Jamarin, but he knew his wher would. He loved the damn exuberant guy. It was hard to stay down when there was a voice in your head bombarding you with happy feelings and thoughts.

"Come to think of it, though, he does go well with a bruise, so if I did give you a beating, you'd haveta wear him around all the time." he mused, amused.

"Good." what else could she say to that?
She suddenly didn't want to talk to this guard any more. She didn't know if it was the guy's overly informal nature, his too friendly wher, his disturbing smile, his threats, or maybe the way the smile didn't reach his eyes. Or maybe she was just tired of waiting in this smelly waiting room. Or it was nearly that time of month (lovely), or she was still somehow too prudish? She wasn't sure.
Whichever cocktail of reasons it was, what was taking the damn mindhealer so long? She looked at the door, absently petting the wher's head.
His comment startled her.
"What?" she blinked, surprised, and then looked down at the blue wher at her lap. "I... how would I... How would I wear a wher?!" She tried to think about it.
Alive? Like a scarf?
Dead, like a coat?
She looked into the large happy eyes.
Covered with drool, maybe?

Jamarin snickered.
"Well, ya wear a wher at a weyr, of course." it made no sense, but he had to do the alliteration, just a little. "Nah, you'd wear 'im around ya. He'd coil so tightly that you'd not be able to move 'cause o' the weight. He's strong when he needs to be." His eyes crinkled, "So ya, a warm, well-meanin', soft blue straightjacket, more like." he realized his stupidity the moment the words left his mouth.
Straightjacket?! How could he have been so flippant about that to some crazy person? Straightjackets were nightmarish. Heck, he'd never been in one, but that didn't mean he wanted to!
"... Or a real thick cloak..." he said hastily. Ugh. And he'd been so cool up until then, too.
Way to go, Jamarin. Now she'll either attack you shrieking or never talk to you again. he thought for a moment,At least the first one is familiar to you from those two bitches He meant his sisters.

Fortunately, his shardsawful faux-pas was broken by the door opening.
"Prisoner Luthradi?" asked the attendant, "With me, please?"

"Jamisk, go with her until she gets to the office, will you?"
It would be good to keep her guarded, but he supposed someone needed to keep an eye on the waiting room.

Jamisk was happy to go! Happy, happy because the human with the funny things on her hands was his friend!

Luthradi wasn't even going to comment on... that. She looked at him and, carefully, made her expression neutral. The effort was a way to take out the sudden flash of anger she felt.
She couldn't say 'how dare he', though. He could dare. He was, after all, a guard.

Finally. Finally she could be out of this forsaken room with this curr of a man.
She stood, nodding to him briefly before following the attendent. The guard wher was coming with her? Fine. The wher was not as bad as his handler.

But HIM.
"Thank you for your conversation, Guardsman Jamarin" she said stiffly, "Have a nice day." she said, giving him a little wave before walking down the hall.
Yes. Have a nice shaffing day. Maybe fall down some stairs, while your at it. she muttered internally, then stopped herself. Faranth, what was that thought.
Not good, that was for certain.
She stepped into the mindhealer's office and sat down.

Well, that aside, she had introductions to do. She was almost sad the wher hadn't come in with her, but well. It was a shame.

She took a deep breath, and waited for the talking to begin.
