"As, would I." he said lightly, answering her second question first. He sat there for a moment, prim, his back straight and his knees lightly touching each other as he smiled, laughing. "No, I don't." he raised his cup to his lips almost with resignation. "I am gifted in the laboratory, but no matter how much I treat cooking as another experiment... they all seem to end in failure." he made a little mou of regret.

"But, it doesn't matter. I suppose this only helps increase my gratitude and pleasure when it comes to tasting the delicate works of art others create." he smiled. A true food junkie, yes.

But much more proper as well.

"I have been a scientist my entire life-- it is what I do best, after all."

He smiled. "And of Alice? How is she? What is she like at home? Has she experienced any unusual symptoms?"

Shy's eyes gleamed at the thought. "If you decide that working for the government or in a museum isn't what you want to do any more..." honestly. Couldn't this man take a joke?

Not when it involved food.

He paused, tilting his head. "As I've said." he replied. "Fae do not experience memores so early on... except for one of them. He had flash backs to a time period, and we have another who excels in bringing back lost memories... one is the tutor of the other, so if you wish, I could always invite them to view your daughter?" he smiled. "Sethos is a very nice, quiet fae... and while Skill isn't in at the moment, I'm sure he wouldn't mind taking a closer look at your daughter... she doesn't even have to remember it after, if she doesn't want to."

His mind shifted again as he reached for another bite. This was addictive! "Yourself?" he asked idily. "Where did you learn how to cook?"

Shy laughed. It was a good thing he had a fast metabolism, then. "I'll give your their contact details. Skill..." he shrugged. "Try with Sethos first. Anything he agrees to, Skill will probably want to look into it as well. You can use my lab as a place to meet, or outside." he knew Skill would keep him up to date with everything, so there was no need to tell her that much. Besides. He didn't want to seem... rude. Not yet.

"Phobias aren't as irrational as they same." he arched a brow delicately. "They are curious things, phobias. I have designed perfect servants, identical in every way from each other genetically, and yet one will have an intense fear for something that the others lack." he shrugged. He was interested to know what it was that gave it to them. "But it is mere science talk." he replied.

He smiled. Dominos... trying a little bit and widening his eyes in appreciation, he purred. "Delicious."

Shy began to smile. "I would love to give you a tour." he began. "I am genetic scientist foremost, and..." but the rest of his words were lost at her next words.

He smiled again, appreciatively. But it was different from the cake smile. There was something deeper, edgier to it and a darkness to his eyes. "Would you really?" he purred. He placed the food on the table and leaned towards her, breaking the barrier between them. "Some phobias are locked in genetics, memories..." he trailed off.

"I have admired some of your... possessions, Elizabeth."

At the 'and...', Shy tilted his head. He brushed at his jacket as if removing crumbs, giving her time to think, giving him time to think. Hmmm. He never usually worked for free. Looking up at the photos once, he laughed, shaking away the more darker, professional mood that had taken hold of him.

"Elizabeth." he purred, getting up. "The day is hot-- why don't we retreat inside, and I'll show you around my laboratory." There was a hint of pride. She had shown him her treasures, in a way, and he would show her his.

"A lab rat." he said simply, waiting for her. "Suggests testing unknown areas, testing boundaries and looking for results to use in a research, data for a solution." for a moment a look of arrogance crossed his face. "I have no need for such trivial data. This is what I've done all my life."

"Shall we?"

Shy offered her his arm, and smiled. It was the same odd smile-- maybe Shy was schizophrenic? It seemed so sometimes, the way the scientist and man seemed different.

They walked across the small gardened landscape back to the main building. The rooms on the main floor, the ones the passed were so ordinary, bringing to mind words such as salon, the morning room, the red room. They walked towards the main reception where Beth gave them an odd look.

"I'm giving her the official tour, Beth." he said serenely, his tone... different. This time the woman nodded respectfully, and grinned.

"Good luck."

They took the main lift in front of the reception. He pressed the L floor-- there were a couple of floors in between, but with letters. And not in order either. B. M. P. L. and also one in lowercase, f.

The doors opened. Shy didn't speak, and as they they stepped out, he waved one hand around. "This, is my lab."

The ceiling was much, much higher than it should have been. The entire area was white, sterilized but with life. Busy. Men and women in strict white lab coats roamed, some conversing with each other, a couple carting clip boards, two standing to one side, arguing over what they saw through windows. It opened out in front of a large hall way, with rooms, sliding doors, some pass coded, some with windows looking in, others with blinds drawn across.

"I am a genetic scientist in front of the Zero Three Zero project. It is independent, government free, and solely my work. I answer to no share holders, no suppliers. The funds I recieve is through private and public organizations for my other work." he turned to watch her. "I design creatures, manufacture a select few at a high price, and work on my own research."

He stopped in front of a couple of rooms. One that held children playing in something that appeared completely like a nursery. Another, where scientists stood, arguing over what seemed to be ridiculous looking diagrams on projections. He waved his hand towards where men and women in silver robes laughed in one room, tested with their cognitive abilities. In another, which appeared like a costuming department.

"I deal with genetics. I design people from scratch, merge two species together to breed compatibly, create soldiers from machinery, fix those who desire fixing, and give life to those who will lose it without our help. I deal with deformalities, mutations, cancers, and... phobias." the last word had him smile.

At the end he stepped towards the end of the hall. A red sliding door was the only thing on this end, and it was less busy than the rest of the room. With thumb and eye print access, he walked in, a quiet, hushed room which had odd, pulsing light coming in from the walls.

"It is profitable, but I do not... capitlize my gifts." he frowned. "It is not like that. I work for myself, for others, for..." he shrugged. He wasn't going to say something as ludricous as the 'greater good'. He didn't believe in it. "For the project." the doors opened again, except on another floor.

"Now that you have seen my lab." he said. "Would you like to go back to Alice?" the corrider was just as long, but quieter. Calmer. And with fae, instead of people.

Five of them, actually.

"Yes?" Trojan looked down at the woman bowing before him, bemused. "Can I help you?"

From his side, Ae looked over as well, curious. Her gaze slid past the woman to Shy, a slight tilt to her head in question. Shy smiled. He was showing people around, and he nodded his head. Yes. This was the woman who was the guardian over their latest fae.

"You must be Elizabeth." Ae said, brightening. She had pastel colored skin, pale pink in some areas, yellow in others, her white hair braided away from her face to reveal to tiny chains of jewels running up and down her ears. She wore a deeply patterned gown, and seemed... older somehow. Wiser. More wiser than her companion.

"Oh, a guardian?" Trojan smiled as well, nodding his head. In a matching gown with less of the details, he nodded his head. His dark blue skin blended with the soft material, his black hair falling down his back in a careless fashion.

Shy approached them as well, nodding. "Elizabeth." he said, amused. "This, is Trojan. And Ae. They are two of our fae tutors, those who have been born under my care and the courts, and have decided to assist me in teaching the newer fae."

Ae nodded her head. From the hood of the cloak, something bright chirrped. "Shy, we were about to come back and visit you from our..." her eyes were shining, and then she hesitated, turning her gaze.

How much were others allowed to know?

Shy shrugged in reply. It was still... complicated. "We are working on an exchange program. Allow the court children to stay with us, send our own over. Ae has recently entered her young adult years and..."

Ae blushed, a brightening of the shades on her face, and smiled.
