She answered him with a light flick of her tail, and when he informed her that he felt a little better, the baku pat him on the head once more. Good. Honestly, there really wasn't much that Xiu felt that she could do during situations like this aside from listen...but at least that much had helped.
Even if she wasn't exactly herself right now. The fact that he called her "Aria" was a testament to that.
It still bothered her, to be honest, not having him know. Should she speak up now? Or maybe she could just keep silent about this whole thing and tell Roch that "Aria" had gone back home to live with her parents, but--no. That wouldn't do unless she made certain not to transform on campus where he could potentially find her.
...
Puffing out her cheeks in a very familiar gesture, she tapped on his shoulder, and then gestured towards the ground.

He blinked, then reached up, picking her up off of his shoulder and letting her down on the ground. "Y'sure y'wanna walk? It's a bit far from here--"

Without hesitation, Xiu sat down on the ground and lifted a foreleg, pointing at Roch.
"We need to clear some things up, mister."
And then she stared at him.

Roch jerked, stumbling backwards as he realized he KNEW that voice--not just that the minipet had spoken. "X--Xiu?" he said, shocked. "You mean--this is--well, s**t," he finally finished stupidly. "Why didn't you tell me earlier?" He'd made such an a** of himself, he realized. Then again, was that something new when it came to her?

"The first time? It just seemed a little too awkward to pipe up and tell you that I wasn't a minipet." And she had been a liiittle more timid back then, not to mention physically smaller and lighter in color. She hadn't expected...for him to recognize her.
Then again, the flower might have given it away.
"I tried though, today," She admitted slowly, "But then you asked me to hang with you, and there just didn't seem to be...a proper time to tell you." A pause, and then, "...Feel any better?"

He stared at her for a long, long moment, a strange expression on his face--which turned into a thoughtful one--then one pierced eyebrow rose and he gave her a crooked grin. "Y'know? I honestly do," he told her. "I mean... she made her choice, right? Now it's just up to me t'get over it." Then he looked at her, looking hesitant. "But... y'know... I still got the food. Y'wanna have a picnic? I mean, I can take y'back if you want, but hell, you can sunbathe anywhere, and this time it'd come with food!" And he didn't exactly WANT to be alone right now.

The look on Xiu's face betrayed her feelings of surprise and relief at Roch's answer--she was glad that he was feeling better, and the fact that perhaps she had indirectly helped a little.
The question caught her offguard, and she lifted a hand to cup her cheek, brows furrowing in thought. "Hmm..." Well, she hadn't really had anything else planned for the day, and spending some time was a friend was always nice. Plus, as Roch said, he had already gone to the trouble of securing some food.
"Sure, if you don't mind!" She chirped finally, giving a little wag of her tail. "At least in this form, I can actually talk to and answer you, right?" It had actually been a fair while since she had last talked to him. Maybe it was finally time to do some catching up.
