But why is Inu-Yasha always the uke. Is it because of the "yasha" in him?

No, that's not it. Personally I like Inuyasha being the uke simply because he's just got some indescribable virgin quality about him that I find in about 90% to 95% of my uke of choice.

Kouga and Inu-Yasha are a really cute couple. They are both part dog and Kouga is perfect for the bad-boy role. While Inu-Yasha is great in the role for the shy and innocent boy.
