Mencari huffed then shook his head, feathers flopping from side to side. She was certainly right about neither options being good ones! Part of the exaggeration he put on his actions was meant to emphasize the point, the rest, this time at least, he honestly meant. Sprangly! He couldn't imagine being introduced to anyone by that name. He wavered a bit as he watched her. It was clear enough that she wanted him to make a choice. Of course, just because he chose wouldn't mean he had to stick around long enough for her to use it.

He stepped forward and dug his claws into the ground in front of the claw she'd assigned to 'Hey you" then turned and started to walk away. So he couldn't speak. So what. Just how did that make it okay to show no respect and try to force an entirely silly nickname on him? So he couldn't exactly argue, he huffed and moved closer to the side of the cliff, looking down through the sparse trees into the gorge below. It certainly would have been easier hunting a few fish if he'd been able to recruit her help, but it was becoming obvious that if he had any pride left to keep he would need to forgo whatever aid he might have been able to coax out of her and find a way down to the water's edge himself. He still wasn't terribly hungry, or thirsty, but the appearance of the flying Fish and the hope of an easy meal had filled his mind with thoughts of a fishy meal. Wiggly, and hard to catch, fish where not a dish he normally went out of his way to seek out, but that odd time he did go fishing he always found the effort to be worth the reward.

Further along the edge there was an old and thick tree growing close to the wall of the cliff. That would make a good starting point, likely his best chance to climb back out again too. It was difficult to tell from this distance if he would be able to jump the gap between the edge of the cliff and the tree. The ascent would be easier, one of the branches hung high over the top of the cliff. Too high to reach if he wanted to go down, but it would be a fine height to jump from when he returned again.

As he approached the tree, he began to grow a bit anxious and glanced back over his shoulder. Just what was that strange, brightly coloured Fish doing back there?

He was getting right on her feathers, that was for sure. Normally she was pretty easy going, but his attitude was testing her. She tapped a claw on the ground after he had motioned towards the 'Hey you' one, watching as he walked away.

Well, he wasn't getting away that easily. She was going to get him back to the Flock, and then someone with infinately more patience than she had at that moment could work with him and attempt to give him a name that would please him more. Or maybe even work out his actual name.

She slapped a wing against her side, and then went after him.

'Hey!' she called, having watched him approach the tree that was very near the cliff edge, and likewise was the stallion.

'What are you even trying to do?' she asked, as she got nearer to him. Goldfish couldn't work out what he was attempting to do, and if he fell it would be bad for him.
'Unless you plan on sprouting wings in the next few minutes, I'd move from the cliff edge.'

He scrunched his nose, then turned away from her, kicking up dirt in her general direction. She was following? Really?

After moving right up to the cliff edge he looked down, giving himself one last good look at the scenery. The tree was definitely close enough to jump too, and there was no reason to think it would fail in supporting him.

He backed up, then gave her one lance glance before taking a running jump at the tree's trunk. A moment in the air, then his claws grasped the bark and he held on tight. After a moment of testing he started pulling himself up, heading to the branch overhanging the ground. He'd rest there, then see if he could work out a path down through the branches. He always preferred climbing with branches rather than just grasping the trunk.

Yup she was following. She really did have no idea what he was doing, he certainly wasn't a squirrel and one slip could mean disaster. She took to the wing, circling on the ground, taking a run up and jumping, snapping her wings open as she did so, beating hard at the air until she was at a good height.

'I wish you let me help you!' she called, hovering near the tree, peering amongst the branches to see what he was up to. It wasn't as if he could get away from her anyway, she was concerned, and she really did think that if she could get him to the Flock territory it would be better for him.

'Please be careful!' Goldfish called out again, fussing around as though she were an old mother hen.

He reached the overhanging branch with ease then lay down to asses the situation. When the yellow female spoke his ears fell back and he turned his head away. Just why did she care what he did with himself anyways? If he wanted to risk falling off a tree that was his choice, not hers!

Peering down over the edge he let out a sigh. From this vantage it was clear that there were a few places where the branches would be too difficult to reach for a safe decent. Disgruntled, he rested his head on the branch, looking up at Goldfish. Lucky girl, with her strong wings. If their roles were reversed he could have been right down the cliff by now and she'd be the one stranded up a tree. The imagery made him smirk.

Goldfish shook her head at the stallion perched amongst the branches.

'It's a little hard on me too you know..' she said, feeling slightly disgruntled.

'I am just trying to help you, you know.' she managed to perch awkwardly on one of the outer branches, peering in at him. She was finding it slightly hard to see him as he was perfectly coloured for lurking in a tree, whilst she looked like a giant fruit.

'Can you please come out of the tree? I'm sorry if I'm not helping you..but I know a place with many others like ourselves. Maybe one of those could communicate easier with you.' she felt herself slipping a little and frantically flapped her wings to keep her balance.

He lay there on the branch in silence for a while longer. She was right, and the realization that he'd made an a** of himself just made him more angry. In time though, he began to cool off. He raised his head to look up at the bright yellow figure waiting up on another branch. She seemed to be willing to forgive him... and maybe if he followed her he could start putting the whole mess with Miroqi behind himself.

With a defeated sigh he got up and readied himself to jump down out of the tree. It wasn't all that far to the ground, he'd made further leaps down off the trees back home. Once on the ground, he shook the leaves out of his mane, then looked back up at the mare and nodded.

Goldfish was beyond relieved when the stallion finally seemed to relent and left the tree. She'd had to keep flapping her wings every now and then to prevent herself from falling out of the tree, and she was a little weary now. She landed a little way from him and gave a stretch, flicking a leaf from a wing and then folding them.

'Right then. I'll lead the way, if you're ready to go? I'm happy you got out of the tree, and am very sure there will be someone of the Flock who can help you better than I can.'

She paused for a moment, working out the best path to take as she would be walking this time.
