Derek Ballard Looking up slightly as he heard Katherine gasping in an apparent happy manner Derek smiled knowing that he was able to help her with getting a cat. He had noticed her blinkingas he looked up from bowing his head to her again. He wasn't sure if he had done something wrong by being polite and respectful, though he hoped he had not. When he heard Katherine speaking he smiled, "Well, Hiro is a really nice guy, he's the doctor-in-training at the hospital. Kana is nice too, I talk to him quite a bit and occasionally rent horses from him if I want to try taking care of an animal. That way I can just give the horse back if I'm not sure I'll be able to care for it right." he paused for a moment and then remembered about Mikhail, "Oh, and there's Mikhail. I guess that he's a nice guy. He seems polite enough, though I've never really had a decent chat with him. He's only in town from Fall until the end of Spring. I guess that he doesn't really like the hot Summer weather, yet I can't blame him. The heat can be devistating on crops if the heat gets to be too much. I’ve unfortunately have lost a few plantings due to the hot weather.”
He had noticed that Katherine had a bit of blush on her face as she commented on his formality being enough to get a girl flustered. He apologized for the overbearingness of his formality and said that it was just who he was and how he had been raised. He said "good-bye" and "have a nice day" as he heard that she had to get going. He too had to head home to check on his cat and to see about getting the things he had gathered as well as the things that he had received from Katherine for his bamboo and honey comb. He walked back in the direction of Konohana and wondered if he should try entering the next cooking contest and if Katherine may enter it as well, due to the fact that she had commented possibly wanting to do so.{{ooc:}}

Katharine
 Katharine hummed to herself as she lead her cows and sheep in to their barn before going to her chickens. She picked one up cuddling it happily as the others flocked to her before she lead the way to their coop. She placed the one in her arms down before turning to them all. "Ok guys, I have a favor to ask of you. There is this guy that would like to have chicken-" Katharine sweat dropped as her chicken tensed thinking she would get rid of them. "No NO guys, I'm not getting rid of you. All that I need is one or two of you to volunteer to get pregnant by Jessica's rooster so that I can give the chicks to him." She said. The chickens relaxed before clucking to themselves before two of them stepped up to her. She smiled down to them before picking them up. "thanks guys let's get you to Jessica." The female farmer said before walkign to the animal shop and paying for the job.

Derek Ballard Derek thought about heading home first to check on Mimi, though he decided that he would first go to Ayame and turn in the things that she had asked for. The milk request was for Hiro so he would be able to get that to him as well. He thought that he'd be killing two birds with one stone in doing that. He didn't take that long to get to the hospital and give the items to the respective people that wanted them and receiving his rewards for finishing his requests. Once he finished up at the hospital he headed off to his house to see if he could find Mimi and check how she was. He knew that if he found her outside he was going to have to get a place for her to safely give birth to and care for her kittens inside the house.
He found Mimi sitting on the railing of his front porch and he called over to her. She turned her slender head in his direction and her ears twitched as she listened to Derek. Giving a soft cry, Mimi jumped down from the railing of the porch and padded up to her human companion, rubbing his legs once she reached him. Derek took this opportunity to carefully pick the cat up and carry her into the house. He knew that she did not like being locked up insid, unless it was pouring down rain or some other bad weather, but he had to keep her inside to guarantee that she and her kittens would be safe once they were born.{{ooc:}}

Katharine
 Katharine walked before to her farm with her two chickens in hand. Jessica said that the next two eggs would be chick ones. She hummed to herself as she placed the two in to the coop before going to her house. She smiled looking around her place before going to sleep. She woke up at six am and started her day. She got ready and looked over her bee hives then her animals. She got them outside. Her cows nudged her happily as her sheep licked her hands. She laughed before milking and shearign them and washed them. Then she went to the coop. She checked over the eggs. There were two eggs in each of the nests of the chickens that volunteered. They were larger than the other and she left them alone. She took the eggs that she could give away. She got on her horse, Jet. "Come on, boy. Let's ride." She stopped off at the board picking up new requests before making her way in to the mountains.

Derek Ballard The following morning Derek awoke right at six in the morning. He usually got up at five am, though he didn't really do that unless it was the beginning of the season where he was heading out to plant that season's crops. He made certain to keep Mimi inside because he could tell that she was definately expecting kittens after having noticed her belly was rounded somewhat. He wondered which of the stray tomcats on the farm was the father of the kittens. There were at least four or five strays and he knew at least two of said strays were toms. There was the golden furred tom and there was a tuxedo tom that he knew of and he was wondering if he might be able to tell which one had fathered the kittens by looking at them when they were born, although he knew that didn't really have anything to do with it, seeing that the kittens could look like any of the strays around; considering their mother had been born a stray and he had not a clue of what her parents had looked like.
He showered off that morning, even though he knew that he'd end up getting dirty before the day was over anyways. He wanted to make sure that he was presentable when he went to the mountain, just in case Katherine was up there again. He did not actually expect the eggs that day so he thought that he would just gather things from the mountain that he could sell and maybe fish some to use that as food for himself and possibly to give to Mimi as a treat. He went to grab his fishing rod, petted Mimi between the ears, heading outside to water his crops before going to go fishing.{{ooc:}}

Katharine
 Katharine fearlessly rode with Jet down Konohana's side. She wanted to talk with Derek again and wasn't going to let the hate between the towns get stop her too much. Jet was just happy to see a new part of the mountain. Jet was a black stallion, nice and fast. She giggled as she had Jet jump over a log. She saw Derek and slowed Jet in to a trot. "Hey Derek!" She said walking Jet over to him in to the water watchful of the rocks and fish. Jet looked at the silver haired young man before stopping in front of him.

Derek Ballard Once Derek reached the water he cast his fishing line into the water and waited for a fish to bite. He had reeled in several fish before he heard what definately sounded like hooves beating the ground. He looked up around, yet did not see anything right off because he had been sitting on a rock near the edge of the water. He shrugged it off as nothing and just kept fishing; that was until he heard the sound of hooves coming closer and slowing. He looked up away from the water after reeling in his line and noticed the black stallion that was trotting towards him. Standing up he realised that the one riding the horse was Katherine.
As Derek heard Katherine saying hello he returned the greeting. He was a bit cautious of the horse because he wasn't all too good with horses and he did not know if this one would like him or not. True, he did rent horses from Kana, however, he did not keep them long due to how they didn't seem to like him very much. "I'm not sure that you should bring your horse any closer..." stated Derek, rubbing the back of his head, "Most horses don't seem to like me all too much for some reason." Derek was honestly afraid of horses ever since he was a child and because his mother had been gravely injured in a horse riding accident and he hasn't ever trusted horses since. What he did not know was that the horses were picking up on his fear and that was why they did not listen to him, as well as the reason that they didn't seem to like him.{{ooc:}}

 Katharine frowned before looking down to Jet. "Nonsense. You must have done something wrong with handling them. Jet go closer to him." She said carefully getting off. Jet walked calmly to Derek. He could feel that the other was afraid. So the horse stopped. Katharine blinked before looking at Derek, " Derek... Are you afraid of horses?" She asked in disbelief. She looked closely at the other before thinking. "Well you know how to get rid of that fear?" Katharine asked thinking. "You ride. Now let's ride together." Katharine said determined as she swung herself on to Jet. She offered her hand to Derek. "Come with me. I promise I won't go fast." she said softly.

Derek Ballard Derek really did not want to be afraid of horses and he hoped that Katherine wasn't going to figure out that he was afraid of horses. Although when he saw her get off her horse, and heard her tell the horse to get closer, Derek froze. He noticed the horse stopped and he could only guess that the horse had sensed the fear that was starting to wash over him. Taking a soft, but shaky breath, Derek lifted his hand and went to pet the horse's muzzle, though he let his hand drop almost instantly.
Turning his head to Katherine when he heard her asking if he was afraid of horses Derek looked to the side, avoiding eye contact with Katherine. He was embarrassed somewhat that she had guessed why the horse had stopped. He did not know whether or not she was going to try making him ride, but his questioning thought was answered when he heard it be said that the only way that he could get rid of his fear was to ride. He also heard it be said that she wouldn't have Jet go fast, yet it wasn't the speed that bothered Derek, it was just the whole idea of getting on a horse in general that made him uncomfortable. "I... I guess that will be all right." said he, not wanting to be rude and refuse Katherine's offer to help him get over his fear. That and he did not really feel like trying to make up some excuse to get out of having to ride, which would more than likely include him having to explain why he was afraid in the first place.{{ooc:}}

Katharine
 Katharine knew Derek would be afraid to try. She just figured that sitting behind her would care him down. "Ok Derek, hold on to my waist however tight you want ok? I'll start Jet out in a walk up the mountain." She explained clearly to him. Jet started out slowly before setting an even walking. Katharine started to talk thinking she could get Derek's mind off him being on a horse. "So any tough requests today? How is your cat? You didn't tell me her name yesterday. Were you getting fish for her too? If you want you can have a milk for her. The eggs were laid. I'm going to wait a week before giving them to you ok?" She said talking to him.

Derek Ballard After climbing onto Jet, Derek's whole body nearly went rigid. He did not like being on horses due to him remembering full well of his mother's accident. However, he had to try to keep calm because he knew that the horse would be able to sense any fear, aggravation or any other emotion, and that could cause a problem. Derek heard Katherine saying that he could put his arms around her waist and he did not feel that he should. The thought embarrassed him somewhat because he did not ever put his arms around a woman's waist before. He had danced with girls before, though when he was asked to put his arms around their waists he had always chickened out and made some excuse to get out of the situation. "I," he started, clearing his throat because it sounded as if something was blocking it, "Is it really all right? I mean I...." he trailed off, not finishing as a slight bit of pink began covering his face. He was ever so polite around women, yet once he got within a certain distance of one he got terribly nervous around them; especially when he was close enough to touch them.
His mind was a bit clouded by his nervousness, though he did hear Katherine's question about what his cat's name was. "It's Mimi. She's a sweet silver tabby I found a while back." he said, his voice still full of undoubted nervousness. "Oh, and yes I was trying to get some fish for her, and I suppose a little milk would be all right, but not too much." he added, looking at the trees as they passed by. He had nodded at the fact that Katherine was going to wait a week before giving the eggs to him, even though he knew that she couldn't hear his head nodding{{ooc:}}

 Katharine laughed, "Derek, of course it's alright. If it wasn't, I would ask you to do it. You really are a gentlemen but if you get embarrassed about this, how on earth are you going to get a date with a girl that likes you?" She teased. Katharine nodded to what he said about his cat. "Do you have any hard requests today?" She said.

Derek Ballard Derek was still looking at the passing trees when he heard Katherine speaking. "I--I uhm suppose that you wouldn't have said it if you didn't mean it." he said, his voice clearing up some. He knew that she was right about that and he knew that she was also right about if he was this nervous and embarrassed about just this little thing, how was he ever going to be able to ask a girl out? He sighed softly to himself, trying to keep his face cool. He was a gentleman but always got nervous around women if they got too close.
"I don't think that I have anything that'll be too hard today. I honestly didn't get anymore this morning." he said in reply to her question of what requests he had. He had been too busy thinking of getting fish for his cat and hoping to talk to Katherine again that he had completely overlooked going to the request board. He put his face in his left hand feeling embarrassed that he did not go check out the request board before heading up onto the mountain when he knew that he would probably need one thing or another from the mountain.{{ooc:}}

 Katharine smiled before saying, "But I guess if you want to fall off Jet then you don't have to hold on to me." She teased before leading Jet over to the waterfall. She took a deep breath liking how peaceful it was over here. "So no requests? Wow I guess you wanted a little break before doing them." She said

Derek Ballard Derek did not want to fall off Jet, though he wasn't sure that he was comfortable placing his arms around Katherine. He was in a pickle and he decided that falling off was way worse than being embarrassed for the duration of him riding Katherine's horse. "I really don't feel like falling off. That's part of why I have been afraid of horses, though I wasn't really the one that fell off the horse." he said putting his arms around her waist.
He did not know if he was going to be good with putting his arms around her waist but he did anyhow and he dealt with it. He did not want to end up falling from the horse and having himself get hurt. He tried not to remember what had happened to his mother but it seemed as if the memory was burned into his brain and that he would never be able to get over it. His eyes watered some at the thought of his mother being gravely injured in that horse riding accident and how she died not long after that. He blinked the tears away though the sadness was very visible on his face. If Katherine would happen to look at him she would most definately see the hurt expression lingering on his face and in his eyes.{{ooc:}}
