His teeth sank thoughtfully into his lower lip, green eyes rolling up to the ceiling as though that would help him decide what to do next. "Hm," Drew said, striding into the living room and absently grabbing a couple of books up from a nearby table. "A fight. Hm."
The window was unceremoniously slid open, and the books were tossed out and onto the streets without further adieu. It was a satisfying feeling, and Drew leaned out to watch them plummet for a moment until he picked up a few more. "What kind of fight? Don't skimp on the details with me."

That, at least, got a sound of surprise and Ever back on his feet, taking two crooked steps toward the window, watching just in time to see the books hit the ground below. Halfway down the block, someone paused, turned, and frowned up at the window, shouting something -- but too far away to be heard. Presumably, it was insulting. Likely, along the lines of 'look what you're doing there!'
The guy walked on. Probably good for him. Ever blew out a breath. "Don't do that...it was an out of uniform kind of fight."
That probably wasn't enough, though. He flicked a look up at Drew, and pulled back to sit again before the man could take offense to his standing. And floundered with how to phrase it, a hand against his aching face. "...my father and I had a disagreement."

The redhead tilted his jaw at whatever was being shouted his direction, cocking his arm back as though to try and take aim to deck the unfortunate soul right in the head. Unfortunately, the man kept moving, and Drew clicked his tongue against his teeth with disappointment before he let himself relax. Next time. Or, better yet, he'd just gut the fellow if he ever came across him on the streets.
He paused to slant his eyes at Ever, expectantly waiting. He wasn't disappointed this time at least.
"Your dad did that?" His whistle was low, maybe a little impressed. Impressed with what, exactly, was hard to say. His dad's strength--or maybe Ever's willpower to keep from powering up and obliterating him entirely. "Your boyfriend know?"

The word 'boyfriend' at least, made Ever wince, fingers sliding up through his hair -- but, at this point, it was hard to argue with it. They were working on moving into a bigger place, together no less, it had been a shockingly long time, there had been [almost] no one else since they'd first hooked up....and anyway, Drew'd probably laugh at him if he objected to the word. So instead Ever chewed on it for a moment, and then blinked up at Drew.
"...um. Of course." Which was a lie, of course, but it came with a casual sort of shrug, Ever finally rooting around in a pocket for a cigarette. Fingers fidgety. Nervous, maybe.
"You think I'd dare lie to him?" He tapped one out, and slipped it between his lips.

"Wow," Drew said, leaning up against the wall and folding his arms over his chest, still holding the book in one hand. "That was the most convincing ******** thing I've heard you say yet. So the boyfriend doesn't know. Check." His tongue poked out for a moment at the mention of daring to lie, his nose wrinkling like he'd smelled something foul. "Please. Don't tell me you're whipped. I might just throw up."
General King or not, Zac was still a tiny, wordy little midget. Drew didn't have much respect for him, but he was wise enough to keep that (mostly) to himself.
"I think you're a weasel and you probably fudged the truth, yeah. Wouldn't really be hard." Somehow, the word 'weasel' didn't even sound like an insult coming from him. Kind of.

Even if 'weasel' had been an insult, this was Ever: Ever who lacked pride, and thus was hard to provoke through it. Ever who tended to shrug off the insults because, well, it was probably true. He scraped fingers through his hair, faintly uncomfortable, but that was more because Drew could do worse with information than just call him names --
He chewed on words, wanting nothing so much as to ask for his stuff back, but instead he shrugged. He could find something Drew'd want to hear more. "...well. Maybe. I told him I got in a fight out of uniform, anyway."
A beat, and then his eyes flicked up to Drew's face, very briefly. "Maybe there are a few things I haven't told him."
