"Mentoring is all about guidance, rather than giving answers," Malcolm replied coolly; Riyo's reaction was somewhat expected, mostly because he imagined the task to be somewhat tedious and daunting for her, "And right now, you can't even tell me who you are. As much as mentoring is about skills development, it is also about personal development... With you, we have to start with the latter."

Riyo didn't like that answer, but she also couldn't argue with it.
She couldn't tell him who she was. She was Riyo, she believed she was 18, though it was uncertain because she couldn't even remember what day she was born, and she was a demon. That, however, had nothing to do with who she was and everything to do with what she was. This she realized.
For a moment, she quietly dwelled on the paper. Reread it's contents over and over with furrowed eyebrows. She'd chosen to focus on the second request. "I don't really understand how this is going to help me find out who I am anymore than living a day in someone else's shoes. It seems more bent on how I'm perceived, as if other people have a better idea of who I am than... Than I do." Didn't they? Didn't they look upon her with an unscrupulous eye unlike her own moments of self-examination?
"... Fine. I'll have it back to you as soon as I can." Her voice was low, her tone defeated. While other people were set with the task of physical betterment and testing their limits...
... Riyo was stuck writing a paper on what she liked about herself.

The mediating-under-a-waterfall comes later, Riyo... Be careful what you wish for...
