New life The time had come, from within a small clutch of eggs that had been laid some time ago came the stirrings of new life. A female Firani drakein looked on as the eggs pitched and rolled, small cracks appearing on the red tinted shells as the hatchlings inside chipped their way to freedom. Then as holes where made in the shells and bits of it flaked away there would be noses with with egg fluid poking out and tons of cheeping and churring as the children called to their parents and family.
It was a slow process and it took the better part of the day for the entire half dozen eggs to fully hatch and add new members to the group. The last to hatch was a small female with pale pink feathers that deepened in colour as they reached the tips. The clan opted to name this one Agniri, she was small but fierce, fighting for her share of her first meal, a spark of determination in her violet eyes. This little keinling would be pushed around by no one.
It was far too soon to know for sure but her determination and the way she flared her tiny wings or firmly headbutted her siblings to get their attention or move them indicated the sort of dominance future leaders showed.Strength and determination would only take little Agniri so far though, if she were destined to one day lead the clan she would need to learn many lessons in the coming years.
Oblivious to the way she was being watched and thought about the small keinling, gobbled down her food and then curled up beside her father to sleep.
~~~ Agniri, was nestled between two of her brothers and the three of them lay beside the warm comforting presence of their father.
Her mind bright and curious had taken in the surrounding of her band's immediate territory upon hatching. There were so many strange things and all of them so big compared to her. The keinling's curiosity however had quickly been overtaken by a stronger force. She was hungry, hatching out of her egg had been very hard work. The shell was so tough and it had been hard to keep her energy up. Still she had heard the encouraging noises her family where making and that had spurred her on.
Obtaining food once hatched and named was it's own trials, she was the last to be free of her egg and the smallest of her brood. Still Agniri would not let that stop her. She pushed, shoved and clambered over her siblings to get at the strips of meat that had been made available for her to eat. She did not want more than her fair share but Agniri had been determined to have her share and the best of the meat that was left. Being last did not mean she had to be left with the scraps!
Belly full and out of energy again the small firani drakein had sought out a nice warm place to sleep. Perhaps later when she woke again Agniri would take some wobbly steps beyond the hatching grounds. For now she was content to have her feathers fussed with by her mother as she dozed off.
Meta Link: http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=23829353&page=1Summary: Agniri's curiosity leads her right into the battlefields of Eowyn and then on a hunt for the strangest beings she's ever seen. A den full of dark magic is discovered and the fiery keindred helps destroy papers that would otherwise be used to make more monstrosities.
