Jerarda had not expected the shield user to be moving quite so quickly, after all the shield was a heavy weapon and she would think it would slow him down, but in this case not so. He came at her and she managed to use her spear to deflect some but not all of the blow. She felt herself stumble causing her next attack to only smack directly into the shield and slipping off of it uselessly. Her arm felt slightly numb from the blow and she was trying to shake her hand out to get the tingling sensation out of it.

Chalcedony lifted his shield up to deflect the warrior woman's attack but in doing so it would seem as though he slowed his momentum a bit. Instead of being able to land a bit against her he missed completely when he took his next swing. Not even close he found himself thinking as he steadied himself, lifted his shield, and awaited her next attack. It was a good battle thus far and he was more then ready for whatever else she threw at him. Nothing better then a good sparring match to hone one's skills he thought as he moved slowly to the side, circling around her as he waited to see what the Alkidike would do next.

Jerarda was surprised that she wasn't bashed in the face with that shield but luck was on her side it seemed feeling as if the goddess was with her she rebounded against the attack her spear thrusting forward although she was not out to draw blood. Aiming instead to try and use the shaft of the spear to smack him pretty hard.

The way that the Alkidike woman moved and the power behind her next attack was nothing short of impressive as well as a bit intimidating. Add in the fact that she was far taller then him and one could see why his people saw the warrior woman as being so dangerous and did their best to avoid battles with them if at all possible. The Shifter was lucky if you asked him as he slid under the thrust of her spear, able to dodge it completely before bracing his weight against his shield so that he could lunge forward toward her, doing his best to try to knock the woman down. It was difficult given the size different, as well as the difference in the range of their weapons, but he wouldn't complain. His shield had saved him a lot in the past after all and he wouldn't trade this sort of weapon for anything other one in the world since it also did so many other tasks for him. It was quite good for multitasking if you asked him

Amidst all this moving the shifting between the two the thrusting of weapons and attempting to dodge blows being dealt towards them. It was impressive to watch the pair of them, a deadly dance where both seemed fairly evenly matched, a shield wielder against a spear woman. Like a turtle battling against a heron, the alkidike manages to dodge the shifters next attack completely before she brings her spear around for another smack against him.

The Alkidike was able to move out of the way of his attack and in turn Chalcedony did the same by sliding to the side this time, bringing up his shield to block the spear that was coming his way before he once more brought his shield forward toward her. This dance was a rather graceful one on both of their parts as well as dangerous, at any moment one of them was likely to get hit but as it stood they were both holding their own quite well. Sweat was starting to appear on Chal's skin but since it was a light sheen he was able to ignore it and it didn't really get in his way at all. It just showed how strenuous their battle was. To keep up with each other they were bound to burn a lot of energy he thought to himself as the dance of sorts continued.

Grimacing as she found herself slowing down she was hit on the broad side with the shield luckly able to shrug off part of the attack as she went to slip around the back side of the shifter. She was trying to get the better of him getting as his unexposed flank or least that was her goal it was tight getting around him.

This time around Chal's dodging wasn't nearly good enough to keep him from getting clipped by the spear, enough to cause him to stumble. While he was able to regain his balance he wasn't able to do so well enough to counter attack, having taken a swing only to miss. No matter, he would try again and again, not wanting to slow down for even a moment since he was sure that would leave him open to another attack by the Alkidike woman, not something that he wanted to allow to happen since each of the small hits would pile up until he was covered in bruises to numerous to count. It was all part of the learning process of course but that didn't meant that he had to like it.

Seeing how they were both tiring at this point, she didn't have to dodge at the attack had missed, though sheathed in sweat she tightened her hand on her spear and went to aim the spear at his leg this time. To get around the shield was hard but not impossible, if she could manage a good hit in his leg perhaps it would slow him down more?

Chalcedony once more slid out of the way, backwards this time and was able to plant his feet in just the right way that he was able to launch himself forward toward his sparring partner. This duel really was an exciting one, it had his heart racing, and he while he knew that it wasn't a real battle he did find himself wanting to win it more and more as it continued. It was likely due to who exactly it was that he was facing off against, a rather big, powerful, and intimidating Alkidike. It would make the win that much more memorable for sure... but even the fact that he was keeping himself out of her reach and striking back in a timely manner was good by him.

Jerarda's health remains the same.
Jerarda ends her turn by powering up. Next turn will get +3 to hit and dmg.
Jerarda managed to dodge the attack and decided it was time to take things up a notch since they were both tiring out. After she dodged his attack she backed off a bit, looking as if trying to reserve her strength for the next strike. Powering as it were to hopefully deal a more devastating blow.

As Jerarda drew back, seeming to ready herself for her next hit the Shifter didn't do the same, instead he lunged forward so that he cold press the attack, wanting to knock the Alkidike down. The duel was continuing to go well for both side and as such he wanted to also do his best to keep moving forward and if he were lucky score another hit against the woman that he was sparring with so fiercely.

Jerarda counters: 10 +7 + 3 = 20 and hits (need 20 to hit Chal)
Jerarda deals: (19 + 7 + 3)/4 = 7.25 dmg
That was definitely a hard hit, Jerarda had raised her spear to try and absorb the shock of blow and though it did manage to partially help, she still felt her feet skid backwards in the moss and dirt and send jolts of pain up and into her arms, but she had been saving her energy and in her powering up paid off as she countered the attack with her own brutal lash of the spear.
