Dakota made sure to catch Charlotte's eye at least once.

And winked at her.

Oh he knew about you and your Mark thing, and boobs. YOU GUYS NEVER LET HIM KNOW IF THE CHALICE EVEN WORKED.

His attention immediately snapped back to Edith and he nodded. "Defenitily not play time ma'am. Will be taking this seriously ma'am..." Dakota nudged Ryan's stomach, well just because.

Man Edith was making him SUPER NERVOUS TODAY.

At Edith's remark to Dakota, Marcus almost felt a bit sad for him. Almost. But then it vanished quickly enough, he knew Dakota might have been a tad tunnel visioned when it came to women, he did bunker down and get the job done.

The lead didn't miss his question however, and the hunter hoped he wasn't about to be shot down to trainee himself. "It would be in my abilities for sure. I-" He cast a glace to Charlotte. Her stare was matched with a brief stare of his own followed by the addition of "I'll get started on that after the meeting."

It was at an incredible early hour of the morning, but Jason had managed to get himself out of bed and towards the conference room. He didn't feel all that tired actually, partly due to the fact he had spent much of this week unconscious. The result of this week long coma was nestled safely in the coat of his hunter jacket.

Even with his recent success, it still felt weird to walk into a meeting room specifically designed for Hunters. At least he wasn't a trainee this time. A quick glance around the room told him a few others were already here, as well as a buffet table with the division lead manning it. She looked eager for everyone to try something, so he awkwardly walked up to the table, picking up a small morsel and taking a bite.

Thankfully he had enough self control not to spit the thing out, and even appeared to be enjoying the food (or in this case pretending to). The division lead probably worked very hard on this, and one didn't want to offend a women especially when it came to her cooking. With a quick note of thanks, Jason found a seat and settled himself in.

It didn't take him long to notice Dakota was hitting on every female in the room, and he..really wasn't sure how to react to that. Besides from thinking the words, 'Dakota no

One look at the room was enough for her. "Good thing im early...less likelyhood of testosterone poisoning." While her words might have seemed rude, she had nothing but a smile on her face and a warm look to her eyes. Anyone whom knew her would know how much worth those words actually carried. She knew she was on a team that was, minus the leadership, dominantly male. Did she care? Not so much, she fit in with the boys just fine. Or she thought so, anyways. Ceres honestly came because it was mandatory, she had a hunch this was more a meeting of the senior moons, not the lessers. At any rate she liked seeing everyone, it felt like ages sense she did.

Her eyes drifted around, catching Dakota's eye first. That earned him a grin, but also a shaking of her head. Why did he always catch the females eyes first? He was a ladies man to his core that was for sure. "Looking a little pale there Dakota." Did Dakota look different?

Edith and Charlotte got her eyes next, giving them both a light nod in greeting. She had met them both on previous occasions, though Charlotte received more of a look. Why the hell was she covered in notebooks?

Marcus was the next to catch her eye, though she admitted she did not let it linger there for long. Ceres fought for the briefest moment not to show how she felt about seeing him on her face, in the end she was able to wipe her face blank from emotion. She still had not forgiven him, and possibly never would, for what he said to her. She had not remembered much... if anything, from her experiences a few months back. A glimpse here and there, a voice... and his voice was one of the ones she recalled. His words ringing through her mind, his betrayal. Even just seeing him caused her stomach to knot up, start to boil. She mentally punched that feeling down, not wanting to deal with it today.

She waved a few more times at various hunters she knew, Ryan being last. She stuck her tongue out at him. : P

Meetings with the bosses always made Harrison nervous.

He got a folder together anyhow of his infirmary/training field duty logs, and some of the reading material he'd either found or been given. Wilderness First Aid: When Help is Delayed, Medical Handbook - US Army Special Forces Field Manual Guide, and similar titles.

Finding material on Magical Maladies, Curses, and other weird s**t hadn't been as successful. He made a note to ask about it.

With the folder tucked under one arm, he helped himself to the snack table, grazing the bizarre food combos and hot-sauce injected concoctions with the same gusto he treated any buffet-style joint. Taking a couple extra peanut butter, sugar, mayo, and pickle sandwich slices, he found a seat and worked up the courage to make his report.

"I been doing field medic training," he began, balancing the paper plate on his lap, "working under Sunny. Hauling folks off the training fields. I've been doing a lot with triage and breaks and transport but it's been hard to find stuff about...the magic sh- I mean uh, side of things. I wrote down my duty logs plus some of the reading material I've been through..."

Harrison shuffled the papers.

He also got his correspondence with Charlotte and Clarice. He'd heard there was a psychology department now, but it couldn't hurt to ask. He was willing to put in hours, if they needed construction help.

"I was also wondering about the psych department. Since Killzone got killed and all. I heard maybe one's started up? I'm not a shrink, but if they need help...building anything, like uh, furniture or patching walls, I'd like to help."

Finally, he'd been curious about the construction of barriers, although he was wary that might venture into technical s**t.

"And I've been wanting to ask how barriers work. Like, if there's some sort of ideal way to set them up, that'd give people more time and protection. Or if that's down to runics and the Life department. Wouldn't mind studying up on that, if I knew who to talk to or what to read."

Hopefully something like the field manuals, with lots of pictures.

Thanks to the binoculars, one week out of the month he found himself with a lot of extra time on his hands.

Konstantin showed, quietly hanging in back, listening the best he could.

He didn't really have much to say, except that he wanted to help put things back together, if that was the best use of him.

...He wasn't much of a leader. Syntax crooned in his head, amused at his reserved nature. Syn wanted to run down the halls, which was a very good reason why the Russian refused to let him have a golem like he wanted.

Edith nodded and smiled at Harrison with an almost excessive amount of approval that probably had as much to do with the way he appreciated her food as with his report. "Good work, if you're feeling ready, I'm going to recommend you start taking those skills to the field on an active basis. With the Quarterlies, there's going to be more teams going out, and more opportunities to deal with extreme and unusual healing situations. Outside of that, there's been an influx of low level artifacts that have magical effects on others, I suggest you study as best you can on dealing with those effects. Life labs probably have a few people studying them, and should cooperate with you as well."

At the mention of Killzone, the smile dropped like a rock, "Hopefully somebody will be able to fill the gap he left soon. I'll make sure they're aware of your offer." Turning she murmured something low to Charlotte, who had to do a small, fluttering juggling act to find the correct notebook.

"For barriers, there is no ideal. Weather, timing, terrain, enemy, equipment, mission purpose...when it comes to defense, context is everything. Effective barriers are less about the runic magic that enables them, and more about a strong understanding of strategy, tactics, and the ability to swiftly utilize that understanding. If you want to study them, I suggest you start with books and films explaining the conventional wars of the human world. Start with what's in our libraries, and if you manage to get through that, I'll give you a buyers budget and a few days off-island to go get more. Will that do for you, Mr. Hughes?"

Having slipped in quietly just before the meeting started, Theodore sat quietly and listened to everything being said around him. It was a lot to process, these plans and questions and, quite frankly, the trainee looked (and felt) a little overwhelmed.

And so Theodore sat like a rather large, quiet, broadly-built sponge, and soaked up all the knowledge he could.

Herryk was silent, almost broodingly so.

Harrison nodded at the active duty. He'd dealt with a fair share of damage already. ...Some of which had been courtesy from Rep. Maybe more than some. Anyhow, he felt like he was ready for field work.

Artifacts. There might not be any quick and easy cures for warding off other forces. It was a varied subject. But there might be some patches. Wards and s**t. He'd see who was in charge of studying their homebase brands of weird.

Volunteering some time for Killzone was the least he could do.

And the news on barriers was surprisingly grounding. Just like building walls. He thought it might involve some mysticism, maybe having to memorize weird pentagram symbols like a magic barrier alphabet, but it was just tactics. Like where to make camp.

Funding and days off sounded good.

He'd start with the library. Tactics were a good thing to know, all considered.

"Yes m'am. I'm ready. Thanks for letting them know. I'll read up on strategy. Thank you."

If he could have left the room, wiped off the sweat, and taken the time to collect himself he would have, but as it was he oughta hear the other projects and suggestions and reports. He settled for tucking the papers beside him and looking expectantly at Ceres.

Wash leaned against the wall, arms crossed, and watched Harrison and Edith's exchange thoughtfully. There were a lot of familiar faces here - and a few new ones, too. The future, for once, seemed like it might have a half-chance of being bright, for a change. His perspective lately had been... well. A little more sunny. He felt serene, relaxed. For once, Wash was eager to hear what the future might bring.

Hope was a warm, warm thing.

Konstantin grimaced as he realised that Harrison was done speaking-- not because he had disliked what the other Moon had said, but because it was probably a good chance to propose his own idea.

He hated talking in a professional capacity-- in English, at any rate. A single bead of sweat trickled down the back of his neck as he shuffled forward, shoulders hunched, hands in his pockets.

It was fortunate that his memory was quite good, for he needed no notes.

"Uhm," he started, clearly getting off on a good foot. "I-I am Konstantin Bashmet, trainee for Moon. Not been on island very long, few months, much learning still needed. But...have noticed, that town and few other buildings not in...How to say? Not in good-state."

Kostya chewed on his lower lip, struggling to find the words that would help express his thought processes in the most efficient manner.

He was not doing a very good job. Syntax flashed a series of rainbow coloured sparkles in his mind's eye, playing a certain victory tune to cheer him on.

Standing up straighter and looking Edith in the eye for the first time, the Russian continued with renewed vigor. "Vould like to offer reinforce, so help to prevent destruction, re-make homes, re-model areas...Any thing that I can do, to help."

Dakota perked at the idea Kostya provided, his attention being drawn to the other hunter for more then his usual harassing.

"That's not bad..." Dakota nodded at Kostya, "If we're talking about rebuilding the town, wouldn't it be a good idea to perhaps make a specilized runic barrier for the homes? I know it won't keep all the danger out but...It could keep out some. I don't think we can spare hunters to patrol the towns, especially after the whole fog dragon that nested there...." Some people just didn't want to deal with that s**t.

He studied Kostya and then smiled broadly at the other hunter.

Marcus snorted back a laugh. "Say it how it is. The towns are in a complete and utter s**t state with very few exceptions." A small sigh, Marcus crossed his arms though it was more a casual gesture than anything. "From experience, building them back to semi-livable, or at least structurally safe is a good starting point, and if done well, can help tone down the shadowlings that like to nest out there. I'd be willing to help on the side given my own reasons for wanting to see the town back to a good standing. Sadly with the barriers... We'd have to collab with life, and need constant maintenance along with a power source. Right now, I already get grief for using the runic daggers by my house. Life doesn't do things for free, which is also a problem I could see with us building back the town and the need for supplies."

Arms uncrossed, Marcus gave a small shrug. "If we, as a division, take up the task of rebuilding houses out in the town we might be able to charge hunters wanting to move down for the rebuilt homes. That way we'd be able to balance the cost of supplies as well as manpower. Cash comes back into the division, towns get repaired, and we get experience. Technically could rope the other trainees to help."

Technically.

"Also your English is getting better."

Ceres was casually ignored.

Wash listened as others chimed in, about runic protection and artifacts and rebuilding the town. It was exciting - making this place a little more homey would benefit everyone, as far as he was concerned. However, he had a more... personal concern.

"Field teams is great 'n all, but what about when things go south?" He rolled his shoulders, willing himself to ignore the dark memories of cells and candlelight that came unbidden. "I dunno what kinda protocols y'all have in place right now for, well, extraction, but it seems like smaller, multi-division teams are more effective than sendin' an army." Their post-Christmas strike team had certainly been more cohesive than the chaotic mess in the aftermath of the horsemen attack. Less casualties as well.

He scratched the back of his head, and added, "I know the scariest part of bein'...compromised...is not knowin' when an' if help was comin'. If everybody had the opportunity to learn proper procedure, it'd surely help give hope to the hopeless - both out there, an' back here."

Back here, at home, he thought to himself, and Sally murmured wordlessly in approval.

"More work toward rebuildin' the town would be nice too," he nodded to Kostya. "Maybe give folk somethin' t' do besides puttin' each other in the Infirmary."

Cough.

Kostya gave Dakota his best impression of saucers for eyes, and edged to hide sort of behind Wash, because he was the safest person in this situation.

"No intention for barrier...beyond vhat can do, for me. Just vant to help." He rubbed the back of his head, shoulders hunched all over again. What they were suggesting was far, far out of his league.

He nodded once at Marcus, brow slightly furrowed. He knew his English was poor, but was a sidelong compliment really necessary to rub it in? Mimsy had helped him prepare, but...

"Just vant something to do on own, vithout need of entire division, da? Small scale." He held up his fingers, thumb and forefinger about an inch apart. "Small, small scale."
