As pristine went, Melvin always kept himself in perfect-pressed condition, and walked in with one of his better sweaters, black belt, slacked, and a pair of dress shoes he had bought during leave a while back. His jacket was on only due to not knowing if it was expected or not, and partly because he liked his intermediate jacket due to his promotion. It gave him a boost of confidence, and he walked in with a white binder with research he compiled since popping out of his pod. It had all lead to various theories and directions, but considering how curt all the superiors seemed each time he met a new one, he decided to trim down a lot and keep the essentials on the first few pages. It was surprising that anyone here even wanted to hear about what the Life division was up to and he theorized that this was how different departments actually got their funding. He was here to get cash and resources instead of having to fight other Lifers for equipment that wasn’t sparking or lab rooms that always smelled like someone caught a minipet on fire.
Walking in, he was shocked not only to see Leon in such pristine condition (he decided to just whistle in his head), and was also a bit floored at seeing the pristine smile of Dr. Stephen that would make a dental hygienist swoon. Melvin only wished everyone could dress their best every day instead of walking around with ripped, stained clothes and bed-rumpled hair.
Taking a seat, he set his binder down and took deep breathes.

Ducking down to help Ami shuffle all her papers into her folder was a secondary instinct, the quirked little smile he gave her was a bit harder to muscle up. He was still nervous, still a bit awkward about this whole "committed" thing. The talk with Eva had been a massive help, but he still felt lacking. Maybe he'd need to go see Marcus soon. "Trading seats might be in your best interest." He chuckled softly, giving her hand a light squeeze before reappearing at the table.
He was a trainee, he was expected to do some goofy things.
"Afternoon, Leon. Do I smell Lacoste?"

Robert watched the papers go flying, and he struggled between the guilt of being the cause, and the humor of watching. He decided to go with humor. It was more fun.
"Sorry, sweetheart." He chuckled. "I should remember to be more gentle with you." There was an innuendo joke in there somewhere.. but he let it go. The moment was souring quickly - Leon's mood hadn't let up since their little fight the other day. Robert frowned, then he quieted down, and gave the man the occasional side glance of sadness. He missed you Leon, come back to bed forgive the poor lug.
Of course, he didn't actually ask for forgiveness.. maybe Robert just knew better. If Leon was still mad, any kind of apology would just turn into another fight. So he stayed quiet, but he kept flicking his eyes over. Hey. Hey Leon. Hey. Hey. Hey Leon hey. Look how adorable and contrite he was, Leon. Hey.

Ami sighed, leaning on the table to reorganize all her papers. Luckily she'd compiled most of it into something short of ten pages, so it didn't take too long. Still, it was time wasted. Lex got furrowed eyebrows as he squeezed her hand. It was appreciated, but this was a professional place, baka!
"Moving would be rude." Etiquette was everything, after all. Robert's innuendo only further the light pink color that had formed on Ami's face from embarrassment. "Not yet anyways."
Leon's address made her slightly more agreeable. Nothing like an attractive man in a suit calling you miss. "You look like your necktie is choking you. Nervous?"

Shopping with robert, was like shopping with a toddler that didn't have one of those new age leashes. There was alot of screaming, running and the occasional streaking in the designated eating area of a mall. Yes, it was a time leon felt better just forgetting about. he didn't care how pretty Robert could bash his eyelashes, it wasn't going to win the prize fighter back in the dancers corner. The hunter got nothing but a blank and stern stare.
Why he never went out with lex on the missions to keep well dressed was beyond his own logic as he grinned at the man and his keen nose. "Blanc to be precise." he mentioned, startled by how keen Lex's powers of observation were. normally all the anti-perspirants made wearing cologne a foolish endeavor because normally all someone could get was degree speed stick. "I'm surprised you were able to pinpoint it, favorite brand, I presume?"
Ami must have been feeling the heat too, by the look of her flushed face. "no, not nervous, just antsy i guess." he admitted. about him feeling itchy and constrained in his shirt, she could do without that tidbit of info. "You?"
and suddenly there was a melvin here too. "You must be in sweatervest heaven." he taunted with a grin and slapped the scientist on the back. yep. that probably stung.

Melvin was organizing his thoughts on how best to stay on track with his presentation without going off on some unnecessary tangent when Leon turned to him and gave him a hard smack on the back that nearly had his face hitting the table.
Bracing himself, he just rubbed a shoulder, slightly flustered that the dark gray turtleneck somehow had come off as him getting his jollies off with other sweater-ish wearers. "Not really. A sweater vest is completely different than a sweater." He straightened the seams of his jacket. "It is nice to see everyone dressed for business and not looking like they rolled out of bed." To see some people in their best had been a bit distracting when he was trying to focus. Dr. Stephen's smile for one had him dying to ask what sort of products he used in his daily regime against tartar buildup. He bet he flossed three times a day.
Was it a bit warm in here?
Melvin cleared his throat with a curt 'ahem'. Taking off his jacket to set it behind his chair, he adjusted his glasses and readdressed Leon. "You look good in a suit. Nearly didn't recognize you."

Lex gave Ami an exaggerated eye roll, shrugging with a grin. If she wanted to endure Robert, she could freely do so. The innuendo was noted, however, and Robert was given a suspicious look. Wasn't he married?
A smile as he focused back on Leon. "Ah, good choice. I'm more of an Armani man, but Lacoste can certainly give him a run for his money." A little wink, as if to accompany Lex's approval of Leon's choice. The former club manager had to hand it to the boxer - he never imagined the man would break out of speed stick and occasional spritz of Axe.

Ami sighed. All this whispering and comments on clothing was getting them absolutely nowhere. She wanted to discuss ideas, not listen to idiots babble about innuendos and sweater vests.
"Somewhat," Ami responded dejectedly to Leon. "Why don't you give your presentation? Get it over with and what have you." More like "go first so I don't have to."

Stephen met Melvin's eyes and winked.
Finally taming his tablet, Dwight began a presentation on the new 3-d displays. It was part light show, part Tron, and about five minutes worth of geeked out self-satisfaction. In closing, he made a point of emphasizing that this would eventually lead to no more physical cell phones. "Just imagine it, no more lost phones. No more fixing Sun Division cells only to have them completely destroyed the next day. Fewer pieces of equipment for Caelius to throw at innocent trainees. No more worrying about other techs hacking your phone and sending out your most private photos. Also? It's going to be really ******** cool. Just a small, non-invasive microchip and you'll be Tony Starking it like a goddamn boss."
The doctor gave him an indulgent smile, "Yes, because that's so very low key, now isn't it?" The younger man flushed and began to stutter out a reply, but H just talked over him, "Clarice, same budget as before, but I believe we can allot several more minions to the AV department."
Dwight sat down, and seemed relatively pleased. At least the doctor hadn't cut funding.
"Next."

Stephen winked.
Someone likes you.
Doubt it, but if he keeps smiling, then it's not bad. Some guys liked big butts and legs, a strange few had a thing for bleach-white chompers.
Wait. What was he doing now?
He had a presentation to focus on! Not perfectly maintained teeth that could put the Sun to shame.
At the call for the next presentation, Melvin slowly rose. After Dwight gave his own presentation of sorts about…some high tech Bluetooth thingy (he had to look away at one point so he didn’t risk having a seizure), he felt better about his own. At least his made some sense.
He didn’t have a Powerpoint or even a printed billboard. He didn’t have his own laptop runiced yet and had to borrow a lot of the computer time in the labs, but he had his paperwork all in a binder. Breathing deep, he rose up. “ Sirs. Recently many hunters have gone into various places in Halloween to retrieve various artifacts that hold a great deal of power and create various effects and are even capable of being runiced and used by hunters to assist them. This is something I want to take great care into researching in hopes of working with the other departments to possibly develop other runic devices or even improving our own. If these artifacts can be used on the field, we have a great deal of new information to research that can them be applied to what we already have documented.”
“To be more specific, I hope that the new data could help create more resources to better aid the Moon department to tending to the wounded in future battles and to bring more of our own home and to the Infirmary. If the Moon department has more resources available to them on the field, our causalities could drop. Considering the horsemen are probably gearing up for another attack, not to mention the other monsters of Amityville that seem to be assisting them, creating better shields and healing resources to be used in battle could give a definite edge that could be provided by researching these new artifacts more thoroughly to lead to some later prototypes.“
He set a hand on the binder he brought. “I’ve already started research on my own artifact but I’d like to call upon every hunter with artifacts. I also considered going to various artifact destinations just to test the area to see if it differs in any way from the other areas of Halloween to be able to somehow create or influence these artifacts. For something that seems protected by large creatures that take up that much fear for our own hunters to fight, even they know that they hold a lot of power here and yet don’t want the general populace of Halloween to have it.”

Rin eventually showed up, apparently just in time to miss Melvin's presentation. She was wearing a dress. Yes, a friggen dress. Though she was wearing her coat over it.
Rin was also carrying a small folder that had been clearly labeled on the tab with "Request". Some things just never change. She watched Melvin while still standing in the doorway, curious to see where he'd sit before taking her own seat.

Rin was wearing a dress. Leon could see her legs. every bit of Melvin's argument was lost by the revelation.
"Glad to see i'm not the only one dressing up for this." the boxer offered politely to Rin. He could feel your eyes on him Clarice. the silence that stretched after the blondes presentation grew fat and pregnant in the absence of sound.
It looked like everyone had something to prove. except robert.

"Aaaah jestem spóźniony!!"Hurried footsteps echoed down the hall before Szczeosny arrived in a whirlwind of loose papers. He looked like he had rolled out of bed into a pile of laundry and an office supply cabinet. Still relatively new to life on the island, he hadn't yet gone on any excursion that would allow him to buy new clothes. Everything he bought was starting to go a little threadbare. Several bulging folders were being carried haphazardly under his arm, scattering a few more of their contents as he came to a sudden and unexpected stop behind Rin in the doorway. "This is... this is meeting, yes?" he mumbled his question to the hunter who blocked his path, shifting impatiently from foot to foot as he calculated how to best to slip past her into the room.

The doctor listened to Melvin with a fairly indulgent smile until the younger man finished. Turning away he held out his hand, "Dwight, give me your wallet." The tech hesitated for only a moment before a raised eyebrow had him fumbling to hand it over, his expression containing both curiosity and apprehension. Flipping through it he finally addressed Melvin, "Quite ambitious of you, Mr. Potter." He pulled out a card, tossed the wallet back to Dwight, and then took out a sharpie. "A bit vague and lacking focus, but as an intermediate, that's not entirely a terrible thing. Clarice, do we do we have for lab availability?" "Lab 3b isn't in use mornings and afternoons." "Excellent. Clarice will give you the key, Melvin. Be sure to keep any battle testing to the sparring grounds, though." Turning to his assistant, "Rather than a desktop or laptop, assign him one of the new tablets for entering data. No budget and no equipment replacement until practical results are shown. Location testing will be up to you and anyone you can convince to follow along. I suppose you need some authority to go about requiring people to share their artifacts for science."Looking up, he smiled at Melvin and tossed the card to him. It was laminated and had a professional looking badge attached, as well as several handwritten amendments from the doctor: Quote: Deus Ex Machina Official Boob Artifact Inspector Dwight L. Nguyen Melvin Wood "That's the extent of what I'm willing to give you at the moment. Next?"

Honestly? Dwight's idea seemed rather interesting to her. Hands free communication might be useful when one was drowning in quicksand or captured by horsemen ...
Like Dr. H though, she could see the downsides. That, and a surgery to implant a chip in her head didn't sound too pleasant. Malfunctions could result in someone's mind being destroyed. Not to mention she'd had enough things digging around in her head. Namely famine bugs.
Ami listened to Melvin, but was a bit ... skeptical of it all. She would certainly discuss aspects of her artifact, but inspection? She wasn't sure how she felt about that. Then again, Ami had always been very selfish of her belongings. If anyone so much as touched her copy of A Catcher in the Rye, she was up in arms. It was rather fascinating though. She wasn't aware there was more than a handful of artifacts, yet the way Melvin spoke of it, it sounded like there were many. If there was one thing they could agree upon, it was that new artifacts needed to be captured by Deus Ex, not Halloween.
Considering no one else was going and now she wasn't "first," Ami decided to take her turn. She hated talking in front of people, but it had to be done sooner or later. She gave Lex's arm a squeeze and then stood up to give her own presentation. She didn't have to look down at her notes. Unlike Dwight, Ami didn't have a powerpoint or visuals. She always hated technologies like Open Office and Excel- she wasn't about to start a battle with powerpoint just to get her idea across. She didn't need nor desire any of that.
"Ah ... hi. I don't care to beat around the bush. At the moment our archives are in pitiful shape. The shelves are filled with decrepit books, broken from overuse and mishandling. They get put back in the wrong places, sometimes not at all. There's also a considerable amount of book theft, meaning access to certain articles is not an option." Nevermind that she had stolen quite a few books. That was completely irrelevant, of course. "I propose a digitization of not only the old texts we already possess, but new information such as-" She gestured to Melvin. "Melvin's artifact project. A database of sorts. Unlike Mark's Database 5.2, it would be accessible from one's hunter phone, like an app."
She took a breath, and continued. "While it might seem like an undesirable burden on monetary means, having a database accessible anywhere could be incredibly useful. Imagine being on a mission with a monster's weaknesses at your fingertips, or horsemen lair layouts, when maps or images are made possible" She looked at the Doctor specifically. "Most importantly, it wouldn't require more than a few hunters well versed in multitudinous languages, computers, the texts and time." It wasn't going to be an overnight project, that was for certain. She gave a light nod of her head, looking up in the air to decide if she'd forgotten anything. Nope. "Thank you for your time."
Then, just as quietly as she'd approached the "stand," she returned back down to her seat and let out a very heavy breath.
