"Oh I know very well why." Mot started with a haughty huff, "It is because they were lazy. They could not be bothered to find a predetermined path, and chose to cut across this agonizingly well-manicured lawn instead. They simply did not take into consideration the hard work of the groundskeeper." He crossed his thin arms over his chest, confident with his hypothesis.

Sal brought up a point, though. Mot did say he would try to do things on the wrong side of the law. Little, tiny things to better understand his classmates. He cringed at the thought of getting caught in such an act.

"Y-you would not dare. Ahaha.. such a jester you are, Mr. Horsemen. If you place me on the grass, I would become the victim, and not the rule breaker. Therefore denying me any blame in this small crime." Mot nervously prattled, inching closer to the edge of the grass. "However I did agree to this... I can.. perhaps..."

His heart raced, his mind reeled. He had to break this small, tiny rule for the greater good. The greater good!

He hissed, taking one foot onto the grassy lawn.

"I suppose~" Sal mused to the haughty little rebuff the little one was giving him. "~That could be one explanation." He didn't sound convinced, in fact he almost sounded disappointed, as if that wasn't the answer he was looking for. "Can you think of any other reason?"

The Sage only smiled.

"But you would have to walk on the grass in order to get back to the safe zone, yes? I may have put you on the grass, but I did not tell you or force you to walk on it." Mot could have stood there for all the Sage cared, so long as he was on the grass. The moral behind this story was...yes, yes he would dare, and he was prepared to back it up to defend himself should the need arise.

"Oh my, how rude of me! My apologies, little colt. My name is Salbei. I am - or rather, I suppose was - a Sage in the Famine Clan. You may call me Sal, though. Your classmates do, and they are so precious~" The Horseman seemed oblivious to Mot's very obvious struggle and carried on as if discussing the weather over tea.

"No, no I cannot. It's not as if some mystical treasure is bestowed upon one who walks on forbidden grasses." Mot sassed.

Mot was busy sweating over attempting to take his second step onto the grass as Salbei began to introduce himself finally. "Precious..?" Mot asked wearily. "My name is Mot O'Boyle. I'm a Grim Reaper in my last year of school at Amity." That second step was finally taken. Yes... He was now standing on the forbidden grass.

"Pity." Sal sighed a very disappointed sigh. Tsk tsk Mot. Tsk tsk.

"Yes, Precious. You all are." There was another low, dry chuckle that eased into the beginnings of a deep, hacking cough. He managed to keep it down, but he held his scarf over his mouth regardless, just in case. Once he was done he let out a musing sort of noise before continuing. "Your name has an authoritative ring to it, little Boogey. I hope you will grow into it." Another small cough and he finally seemed to be looking at the boil, lidded red eyes observing the distance between the pavement and the boil's booted feet.

"Keep going." He urged, waving his free hand as if dismissing him further away.

Mot made a small, almost negligible noise of defeat at hearing the disappointment in Sal's voice.

Grow into his name? Was he honestly so small of authority that his name was too old for him? How sad. "I hope so too.." He conceded, his gaze lifting as Sal urged him further along.

"Ah.. but I... oh.." He walked small, slow steps into the grass, further and deeper. "How much further must I go to consider this breaking the rules.."

"I'm not sure." Sal said honestly, still a tad disappointed in the boil. "But Luckily for you, it seems someone who had broken the rules left behind a trail for you." His free hand disappeared without gesturing, but it was clear he meant the footsteps he had already pointed out to the lanky child.

"Puts a new meaning to the phrase 'Follow in someone's footsteps'." Sal mused with a coughing chuckle.

"Are you not well, Sal?" Mot asked, realizing Sal was doing an awful lot of choking on air. "You sound ghastly..."

Distract him from rule breaking maybe...

"I am as healthy as I will ever be, dear colt." Sal said softly, a light croon as to ease the young one's fears. The scarf was still held over his mouth, the spots of blood as evident as ever.

"It is a story for another day. Walk." He commanded softly, not really stretching his authority, not that he had a lot to begin with.

"But you.." His scarf was lined with blood, but maybe this was a Famine trait shared with his kin. Mot pouted as he was urged to press on ever softly. Mot whined, looking to the edge of the grasses.

He took in a breath,

and ran across the field full tilt, his long legs giving him an incredible edge in speed. He may as well get it over with quick if he was to break this rule.

Sal watched the retreating form of the running Reaper and chuckled to himself for a job well done. With a gesture the ground below him rumbled and broke, making way for a pale and thoroughly emaciated horse with bone feet. The ground closed as if nothing had happened, smoothed into the stone it had been before. The Horse pawed at the ground and shook its long mane, looking back at his rider expectantly and within seconds had the Horseman on its back, galloping along the road to catch up to Mot. The rider slowed his mount to a trot once they caught up, and eventually to a stop when the trail of footprints ended and he was back on the path.

"Well, would you look at that~" Sal crooned in very false wonder; the pair were on the other side of campus now, right in front of one of the main school buildings. He hadn't bothered to dismount yet, but he lowered the reins to rest on his lap. "Almost late for class, young one? Tsk tsk."

Mot huffed as he reached the path once more, nervously looking around for any signs of enforcers of authority. But of course, there were none. Amity always seemed to run on some kind of honor system as far as he could tell. He was now one of many people who helped tarnish the lawn. A scar of foot prints strewn across its surface.

Shame on Mot.

The reaper startled and looked to the side as Sal approached on his mount. It was at this point Mot found something he actually liked about Horsemen.

Horses.

They had... horses.

Mot was practically aglow with admiration. He did not speak a word and simply gazed upon the glorious apparition before him.

When no answer came, Sal considered reminding the boil to use his words. Before he could do that he noticed something else; namely, a wide-eyed stare of a very amazed little child. Well, no wonder there was no response!

"A fan of horses, I see." Sal chuckled, reaching forward to rub the beast's thin, bony neck. "Have you ever ridden before, little one?"

Mot snapped out of it, smiling and nodding his head. "Yeah! I've ridden before. Many times before Amity, and once more some months back. I enjoy it a lot." He tried to keep eye contact with Sal as he spoke, but his gaze drifted back to the beast he was sitting upon.

"I'd love to have a Skeletal Horse one day."
PostPosted: Wed Mar 06, 2013 12:27 pm

Now that was adorable. Sal smiled to himself and shifted in the old and well-worn saddle, dismounting from the pale beast as if he'd done it hundreds of thousands of times before.

"Skeletal Horses are beautiful, unfortunately for you this is as close as I can provide." Sal moved to stand under his Horse's head, which was an impressive feat considering he was rather tall himself. The Sage put his hands on the mount's withered old neck, patting it to calm it down or to perhaps show his affection for the creature.

All Mot received was a pointed stare and a slight nod towards the now empty saddle.

Mot stared back, eyes unblinking for a long moment. Finally he reacted with a surprised and baffled voice, "Wh--me? On... But..." Mot stared up at the giant of a mount. Mot had never had issues with reaching anything thanks to his height, but this? For once Mot felt small.

"I'm afraid to.." Mot bit his lip. How did he get up? Oh well. Guess he'd just have to try. The cowboil steeled his nerves and began to climb up to the saddle. It was difficult, and not smooth in the least, but finally he managed to get himself situated.

"I have never been on a mount so high up before." Mot announced, grinning ear to ear.
