Cybele stared at Ganymede rather blankly, not knowing what to say. "Maybe..." was what she managed after a few seconds, the vaguest thing she could think of. Then, after another moment of thinking, she added, "My own side?" In the inspirational speech it sounded nice, that she could fight for what she believed in and had the power to help people or whatever, but that wasn't how it really was. "I've been fighting for myself. It doesn't really work. It's just me, going around, getting upset if people insult me or the Court, or... uh... not..." She shrugged a bit awkwardly, not that he was looking at her anyway. "It's not mature, and it definitely doesn't save anyone." She turned away, shaking her head and tapping her fingers on the ground absentmindedly. "And I'm always alone. I hate being alone." Perhaps that was her own fault, though. She could barely look into someone's eyes without screaming at them. "I know. I can have allies and friends on my side, can't I? Just not ones from Chaos." Plus, of course, she had the ability to be rather bitter and harsh even when not making eye contact. "Sorry. I'm being difficult, aren't I? It's just... all this is difficult too. I want to be part of something, sort of. Even if I didn't, though, for some things I will have to pick a side." She turned back towards him. "Just going to the Dark Mirror Court... Having a family and everything, and something to fight for... It sounds nice. I won't just rush off and do it without a good reason. I promise." Another promise to add to her collection, though this one was easier to keep. "I could promise to stay with the White Moon if you want..." That wouldn't be so awful, either, though if she found out they'd actually been murdering people, she knew she couldn't stay. "Though I'm obviously going to have to break some of these..."

“You’re not alone now,” Ganymede pointed out.
He knew it wasn’t enough. This one night, this one conversation, probably wasn’t going to do much in the long run to keep her loyalties with the White Moon. He wasn’t so full of himself to think that he actually had the power to make a difference with her. And, to be honest, he wasn’t very concerned about keeping her loyalties to the White Moon when his own loyalties were a bit unconventional. His objective, if he had one, was to make her question her promise to Chaos.
She didn’t have to care about the White Moon or the Moon Queen to stay just as she was. But if she turned to Chaos… there was no telling what would happen to her, if she’d even be herself anymore, or if the things that mattered to her now would matter to her then.
“Sometimes promises have to be broken,” he said, straightening back up and staring at her seriously again. “I’d say don’t make promises too lightly then. I don’t make promises. Or… I try not to.”
He made promises to himself, sometimes. But he was careful not to make too many promises to other people. The longer he’d been doing this, the more he’d come to realize there was no way for him to control anything, and therefore no way for him to guarantee anything to anyone.
“It might not count for anything, it usually doesn’t for most people, but you have me,” he offered, showing her a lop-sided smile that was half friendly and half self-deprecating. “I can introduce you to some people if you want. I mean, I don’t really know a lot of most of the other Senshi, but I’ve got teammates. Some of them might be better at helping you than I am. Val’s more morally upright, Pasiphae’s more eloquent, and Kallichore… she was with the Blood Moon Court for a little while, and she saw them when some of them became the Dark Mirror Court. She might actually be a really good person to talk to about that, come to think of it. But even if you just want to patrol with someone or something, you can put me in your phone if you want. I usually end up going out by myself most nights anyway if I’m not with Valhalla, so I wouldn’t mind the company.”

Ganymede was right, for sure this time, which meant Cybele had been being stupid again, obsessing about being alone while right next to someone. Of course, she'd said plenty of harsh things within the past few minutes. A few slightly inconsiderate ones couldn't make anything that much worse. "You're right, " she agreed slowly, watching her words carefully in a probabally futile attempt to prevent further mistakes. "About me not being alone. You do count as a... companion, though." She paused. "Ally, if you want to claim someone less morally upright than you, or... I don't know." She hadn't really thought about morals, but that was what it meant, she supposed, to find out who was doing the killing and to oppose them. Worrying about who would be there for her was not, and didn't matter as much. Still, Ganymede had given her hope for the senshi on both topics, something she hadn't been expected at all. Her decision had become that much more difficult, but the White Moon Court had become that much more appealing. She smiled, only half forcing it. "Your team sounds nice," she continued after a second, though there really wasn't so much she could take about a person from a few words. "I don't really need help, though..." Did she? No, she was sure she didn't. "Advice, maybe, but I don't know if they'd be better than you. You've been very helpful." She blinked, then did the best to ignore the fact that she'd just contradicted herself. The attempt at being careful hadn't really worked out. Instead, she thought about the other thing he'd said. "My phone? I don't... oh!" She hadn't seen or thought about the thing since her awakening, but it had just appeared in her hands. More magic. The phone itself had lots of buttons that looked fairly normal, but pressing them didn't seem to to a lot. "Ok. What's your number?" she asked, looking up at him.

Ganymede tried not to for fear of seeming mean, but her question about the phone elicited a round of hearty laughter.
“I don't have a number,” he said. “At least... I don't think I do.”
He lifted a hand and summoned his phone from subspace in all of it's red-cased, black star-spangled glory. Holding it before him, he aimed as if he were taking a picture, clicked the correct button, and registered Cybele as a new contact in his phone.
“You just kind of do this,” he tried to explain. “Sort of like you're scanning me in. It'll put me in your contact list and then you can text me and stuff. I think it has a GPS thing too, so you can, like, look for power signatures in the area if you were ever out by yourself and wanted someone to hang out with. It takes a little fiddling with to figure out all the functions, but it's pretty useful. I guess whichever cat awakened you didn't tell you about it?”
The cat that had awakened him certainly hadn't, but then he didn't remember much about that cat, not it's name or what it looked like or even much about what had happened that night he'd first transformed. There'd been a youma about, certainly, and the situation had been dangerous enough to require his ascent into senshidom, but after all this time the details were beginning to fade. Or perhaps he simply didn't want to remember because that moment had been the end of the normal life he was now struggling to hold onto.
“If you hold down the center button and concentrate on your planet, it'll take you to Cybele,” he continued, pointing to the proper button as he did so. “And then this here,” he showed her a little pearlesque charm, “this thing lets you to go the moon. During the full moon, I think. It gets all... glowy. You just focus on the moon like you'd focus on your planet and there you are. I think you have to ask a cat for one, though. But I know a cat, so if you wanted one I'm sure I could get you one pretty easily. And then one of my teammates, Kallichore, put together a little Senshi guidebook. You can access that through the phone, too, I think.”

"Oh." So Cybele was wrong about the phones, like pretty much everything else. This wasn't really her fault, as it wasn't really logical to think that something that looked like a perfectly ordinary cell phone was actually a weird and magical object like everything else. It felt like a bigger deal on top of everything else, though, and she bit her lip in embarrassment as he laughed. Then, she listened to his explanation carefully. The part about Cybele and the moon she wasn't sure about, and she added them to the bits and prices of stories about space currently floating around her mind. The rest seemed fairly straightforward. She held up her phone and tried registering Ganymede. "Like this?" An unneeded question, as it seemed to have worked. "No, I guess she didn't tell me about it, which is weird... She told me about a lot of other stuff, like youma, and not to tell people my other name, and what to call things," she said to answer question. She smiled at the memory for a moment. She'd thought the sweet and helpful cat was a youma. It hadn't been pleasant at the time, but it was one of those stories that was fun to look back on. Not that she'd actually taken the cat's advice. She'd ignored the whole encounter for a while, and even now she'd just told someone her name. She made a mental note to be more careful about that particular thing as she finally stood. "Anyway, thank you so much!" It was a fairly generic thank you, though for what, she couldn't quite tell. The advice, of course, but also something else. Hope, maybe? The fact that he had made her think? It didn't matter, though. He'd helped her. That was what was important. She smiled and turned away, then paused. "You should probably take this. I can't wear red at all without looking like a weird Christmas tree." She looked at the hat for another moment after taking it off, then handed it back to him. "I have enough had ornaments, anyway."

Ganymede rose to his feet soon after Cybele and took his hat back as it was offered to him, laughing again at her self-deprecating comment.
“At least you don't look like a street walker,” he said jovially enough.
Truthfully he didn't feel as if he'd helped her all that much, but she seemed to be in a better state than she'd been in when he'd first come across her, and he supposed that was something of an accomplishment in and of itself. Or she was pretending. It was a habit he gave into sometimes, as it was often easier than continuing with awkward or confusing conversations. But he didn't want to pry and risk upsetting her, so he let it go.
Was that a mistake? He didn't know. Maybe he never would.
Or maybe he just found it difficult to believe that he might have actually done someone some good for once.
It certainly wasn't something he was used to.
“If you need anything, you can text me,” he offered again. “I promise I don't mind. Either way, I hope you're able to figure things out. If I hear or find anything I think might help, I'll try to pass it along, okay?”stari_maga I am so sorry this took me so long! emo

Cybele nodded at the final comments about communicating, unsure if she would actually do it. She smiled. "Goodbye, Ganymede, and thanks again." Then she turned away. It was time to maybe find a youma to dust and then get to bed. She didn't think she could take any more confusing words, or even cheerful ones, at the moment. As she began to slowly walk away, she wondered what she'd gotten herself into. She'd gone from questioning the White Moon Court to questioning everything. She was pretty sure she'd made a friend, though, so that was good, and over all she felt a little better, but was unsure what to think about anything serious. Well, she knew to trust herself and nobody else. The basic smiles and things were easier, so she kept a pleasant one on her face as she got to the street corner, turned around, and waved. Then she kept going and didn't look back.
