Sho shrugged his shoulders noncommittally, an automatic reaction that he'd probably being doing since he was in his bowl. "Yes and no. I didn't know a whole lot about flutes when I made it. With the knowledge I have now, I can create far more intrinsic things. But the power knew what it wanted the wood to become and it just sort of flowed out of me. I didn't really have any clue what I was doing in the beginning, making things and playing music. It was all on an instinctive level."

He cocked his head to the side and looked Xing-Huang over. "Have you ever tried to use your magic to make anything before? I mean I can make a flute with my eyes closed. I don't need to see what I'm doing, I can feel it. Sight might help on occasion, but it's an optional sense. I could probably even craft a flute without magic with my eyes closed, though that would definitely take practice before I made anything that was any good."

Sho straightened his head and lifted an eyebrow. "Don't be so afraid of your power. If it's anything like mine, it'll help you out and guide you in the beginning. And you can always ask for help once you start to progress. I wouldn't leave them untrained though, cause if you lash out in fear or anger one day you'll do a lot more damage without any control."

Not that Sho knew that for certain, not knowing exactly what kind of limits Xing-Huang might have, but he didn't think he was exaggerating too much. Even with a limited control over metal, one could still do a lot of damage if they acted without thinking. He didn't exactly want to scare the guy either, just try to make a point.

Plus... There was a kind of joy in working magic. Sho wasn't sure if it was a god thing or if all magic users felt a similar joy; he'd never asked any of his family about it. It was just a part of him though, and it felt good to use that part of him. It seemed a shame that Xing-Huang would be afraid of something that should be natural, even a gift, to him.

Sorry about the wait > -> Muse still isn't fully awake yet, but I didn't want you to think I'd forgotten the roleplay so I pummeled at her to get at least one tag out.

"Ah, I understand...." Xing-Huang bowed his head slightly, enjoying listening to him. "So it's more of a guide for you. It certainly must help being able to see what you're doing...Although..." He trailed off for a moment, thinking. Seeing and feeling had a lot to do with what Sho talked about. Even without one, he should be able to do something right? Without everything going to disaster? Surely there was a way, there was possibility in everything.

"I haven't. With my eyes being useless and all, you know, it seems a little daunting. But if it can guide me....And if I can feel what I'm doing...Then perhaps there is a way. Daresay I want to try it?" He was feeling a little more confidant, especially with someone to help guide him through. Both of his parents had more passive realms, nothing like what he and Sho had. They didn't really form anything, though they probably could if they put their minds to it. "I don't think anyone in my family has tried something like this before....As long as it doesn't end in fire and brimstone, I think I'll be good."

He wasn't yet ready to try it, especially not if he was still vaguely anywhere near Sho's home. Safety first, right? He didn't want to accidentally blow anything up, especially not the precious garden Sho spoke of, the one he had almost trampled. Such were the woes of his father's gift to him.

Sho snorted. "Sight, optional," he repeated with a touch of impatience. It was an improvement for him since usually when he thought someone was spending too much time drowning themselves in self-pity and self-doubt he tended towards blunt insensitivity.

"If you're in tune enough with your power to know not just your domain, but your specific domain, then you don't need to see to know. You'll just know, especially once you shore up your skills and confidence a bit. Same way you'll get better at moving around on your own if you just practice at it. That's the whole reason they invented the word "beginner"."

Sho did feel some sympathy for Xing-Huang though, despite the content of his words. He'd gone through a similar fledging when his dad adopted him; that was when he was first brought into the world of music, and all that that word entailed. He wasn't sure where Xing-Huang would start, since it didn't sound like his family had the know-how and Sho certainly didn't know a thing about gears! Maybe he should take the blind god on a field trip to a hardware store?

XD It's fine! Length doesn't really mean a whole lot anyway; I could probably fill up a whole page with pointless drabble that accomplishes nothing.

Sight optional. Those definitely weren't words that he heard often, though they were soothing in their own way, even with how they were delivered. He curled his tail around himself, smiling slightly. Well, at least one person believed in him, or so he at least took it.

"There's actually something funny about that...I can't stand the sound of noisy gears. Maybe I could come up with a solution though....As soon as I get good enough, and practice harder. I'm certainly not going to get any better without it, right?" Confidence was going to be the main issue, but if Sho thought he could do it....Then what reason did he have to doubt himself?

"Do you...Have any suggestions for getting to know my domain better? I mean, you probably have gone places to get more in tune with yours, right?" Maybe he was psychic, maybe not. But indeed, a field trip would likely be in order for the young god.

"Someone who works with metal, a crafter, and is at least competent, but preferably an expert," was Sho's response. "If they aren't a worker of magic themselves, I'd recommend finding a teacher in that as well. I got lucky in that my family were my teachers in both music and magic, though as far as magic goes theirs is a bit more subtle than mine."

Xing-Huang's words brought a snort of laughter and crooked grin to the brash male's face. Being irritated by one's own domain! That was certainly a new one. "I'm sure you could figure a way to make something silent, once you figure out what you want to do," he agreed.

They were now at the edge of town, walking past residential buildings and the occasional shop or two that didn't need to be centered in the main flow of business traffic to function. The hardware store was a couple blocks in; curious, Sho was aiming their walk in that direction. Thankfully the day was a quiet one, with few people out and about on the streets. He didn't want to overwhelm Xing-Huang any more than he probably already was!
