A frown crossed his face. Not because he was disappointed with what she said, but more out of confusion. What did she mean new bones smelled? He...could smell the bones yet, but he didn't think they smelled. "New bones smell?" He finally asked of her, not sure how exactly there was a difference in smell between new and old bones. He had been around these bones for long enough that their smells all kind of mixed together into one delicious bone smell. Mmm bones. Wait what was she saying? His mind had turned fully to bones and he had to focus really hard to listen to what she was saying. Take the old one out. Yes, that made sense. Though if he didn't need to share the cave with her he would have kept the smaller one inside.
He nodded his head then looked from the new rib cage, to the guard, to Syphax, then to the old rib cage. Well since there was a guard handy to move the new one in he should do that now, it would be nice to sleep in a less cramped spot anyways. His gaze fell on the guard again. "You move big one in after I take small one out." He ordered in a tone that he hoped reflected how Pirata sounded when talking to the guards then ducked back inside the cave. He had to take a moment to nose some of the other bones out of the way before he took hold of the rib cage and began pulling it slowly out of the cave.

Well at least the colt seemed capable of knowing a good idea when he heard one, Syphax thought as he ordered the guard to move the new one in after he pulled the old one out. Of course it had all been her idea, the colt never would have thought it up on his own - why he probably would have tried to cram them both in there together, the absurdity! But whatever she was delighted that he took her idea and followed it anyways.
"Yes, new bones smell like rotting flesh." She told the colt as he started pulling out the old ribcage and just because she liked to give orders and wanted to fell like she had a say in all of this she then rounded on the guard to back up Cassava's order. "Well! You heard him! Get to it!" She snapped at the stallion, stamping one of her little hooves in what she felt was a very commanding manner.
The guard of course seemed to take this tolerantly enough moved forward to do as he was told, Syphax had been sure he would - no one would dare to disobey her in this herd, not with her mother being in charge!

Moving the smaller rib cage was certainly easier than the bigger one, but it was still a bit tough. It had sat here long enough that the dirt had hardened around the bottom and it took several strong tugs to break it free. Cassava released his grip on it for a moment to turn his attention to Syphax. She reminded him a lot of Pirata, which made sense given they were mother and daughter, but he was happy she was his size, or as close to it as possible. He considered her words for a moment, head tipped to the side, ears perked forward. New bones smell like rotting flesh. "Leave new bones outside when I first get them. They don't smell when I bring them in." He told her with a nod of his head and then went back to his task as Syphax ordered the guard once more to do his job.
Cassava tugged and pulled and grunted but before long the rib cage was nearly out of the cave. A small feeling of sadness washed over him. This rib cage was special, it was the first one he had and he had been sleeping in it for some time. But knowing how cramped it was and that the new one would be better made that sadness go away. He gave few more bit tugs and the rib cage was no only removed from the cave but also put in a safe spot as well. He turned and watched as the guard easily pulled the new rib cage inside. Cassava hurried in after him to make sure it was put in the right spot. Once he was sure it was placed correctly Cassava crawled inside it. There was lots of room for him to lay down within the bones but it still felt like he had his own private cave to sleep in. He glanced at Syphax from between the rib bones. "This much better."

He was even reasonable! Perhaps his short stature wouldn't be quite so bothersome after all..if he was willing to listen to her ideas and be reasonable about her objections well..Syphax thought she could have done worse for a companion. "Good." She told the colt with a slight nod of her head. She could deal with rotting flesh outside where the mountain wind and condor scavengers that were perpetually in the vicinity would deal with it...just not where she had to sleep.
She stood off to the side as the guard and Cassava did all the hard work, an air of command to her stance, as though she was in charge of overseeing the entire procedure, She even called out a few thoughts on the bones placements before everyone seemed satisfied and the guard retreated to his previous post while Cassava crawled inside his new abode. Syphax still thought it was a bit strange but she was willing to deal with it in light of the colts other sensible actions so far. "It looks as though it will last you a while anyways." She remarked as she took note of the extra room he had.
By the time all of this had taken place however the day was growing short and Syphax found herself stifling a yawn or two as the shadows started to lengthen along the mountain's wall. Laying down alongside the cave wall where the stone would shelter her from the night wind she blinked slightly at the colt where he was laying in his bones. It would be different sleeping here in this cave with him but Syphax supposed it wasn't truly a bad thing to have someone to talk to now and again other then the guards and her mother.

Cassava gave Syphax an odd smile, he didn't smile much so his mouth wasn't used to making the shape, and his tongue lolled out. The work had been tiring, especially after a day f scrounging around a good chunk of the mountain looking for bones as well as some time spent with She-Ra as she explained a few things to him. She had made mention that he was a bit too small to train in the form of fighting just yet but once he was bigger she may be able to. That was something he looked forward to, he knew how important She-Ra was to Pirata's plans and he would do whatever it took to be a valuable member of this herd, but most importantly to please Pirata. He gave his head a nod and looked about his rib cage bed. "Lots of room. Can stretch out now."
In his old rib cage he had to law at an awkward angle to that he didn't get stuck in it. Now however he could lay flat on his side, curled up into a ball, or however he wished. Yes, this was a good thing, and so was having Syphax here. He wouldn't have to spend all his time alone anymore and he liked the way she was authoritative like Pirata was, it made him feel comfortable and useful at the same time. Letting out a yawn Cassava shifted about trying to find the best position to sleep in. After a bit of tossing and turning he decided upon laying on his back, his front legs flopping over his chest, his tail curled around beside him. With a final glance at Syphax on the other side of the cave Cassava closed his eyes and let sleep take him.
