As much as Buddingtonite was willing to drive a fist into such a beautiful face (multiple times), he had a feeling that this encounter could not have gone in his favor. As much as he was willing to fight her and wouldn't have minded getting a few more bruises to his form, he wasn't willing to push it that far. He had an appearance to keep up the next day, and the fact that the two had exchanged blows meant that she wasn't worth his effort in luring over to the Negaverse. As much as they needed someone with her spunk and skill, she certainly wouldn't be willing to go this evening, and perhaps someone stronger was needed?
"No thanks, my lady," Buddingonite said with a very ungentleman like spat, trying to get the taste of salt and saliva out of his mouth before standing completely upright. As painful as the punch was, he was going to keep up his appearance, forcing himself to stand perfectly erect despite how sore his back had become from the fall, and he made sure to take a moment to dust himself off and straighten his hat before he addressed her again. "Admittedly I'm not much for fighting, not when there are other ways of getting what I want with little resistance."
He was willing to chock this up as a loss to himself and he felt little shame in it. Better to run away and get the chance to try again, than risk messing himself up and ruining now only his career in the Negaverse but his reputation at work. He gave her a curt bow of the head, before turning and simply walking away with a playful wave. "I was hoping that we wouldn't have to be enemies, but it seems that fate has already decided for it to be so. Until next time..."
He continued to walk until he got into the bushes, and the moment he felt he was out of sight, he ran for it. Now that no one was watching, he could drop the act and he moved as fast as his legs would take him. Another failed attempt, but at least he had gotten further in conversation with this one than his last few attempts. He'd get someone,
someday, once he figured out where he went wrong in his sales pitch.
