“Princess??!!” Ryuu glared for a moment before he turned his head back to what he was doing before a smirk crossed his face. Grabbing a pair of fist sized rock, he threw them blindly over his shoulder. Judging by the hollow thumps and the direction that they were, they totally missed Tobi and his pompous teasing. “And yet, I’m still more of a man than you.” Ryuu got the hint that Tobi didn’t want to talk about that battle bout not too long ago. Ryuu supposed that it was alright, he didn’t seem like he was going to go berserk and lose control or anything. So… he supposed that he was alright with it. Still, he was somewhat worried for his friend when he entered the battles that they were possibly going to be getting into in the future. As much as he hated to admit it, Tobi was right, he was starting to look like a centerfold in a dirty magazine and bandits and thugs weren’t exactly the pickiest of people whom they wanted to take advantage of. Ryuu would just have to live with this fact for a while.
When the topic changed slightly he looked over at Tobi with a wicked little smile. “Funny, you seem pretty adventurous when it comes to the women that you take to bed with you… I’ve seen and met some of them. So there is no hiding that fact from me, you’d totally chase an a** like mine to bed… then when you discovered the secret you’d try it out anyway. Let’s face it, you’re such a horn dog that you’d try anything once.” Ryuu teased back. When Tobi came over to him to see the plant with his own eyes he held it up slightly. Sighing Ryuu answered the question. “We still have about five more to find. This is going to be a long, long time…”
Night was starting to come quickly, and with limited success with finding the plants the pair would have to stop and set up the tent and build a fire to cook their food with. Ryuu took the opportunity with the break to stretch out his lithe legs and sigh. He was sitting on a large rock with a bowl of stew on his lap, he wasn’t touching much of it because his mind was heavy with things that had happened recently, eventually Ryuu just dumped his cold stew in the pot and stretched out more. Everything was sore and stiff from crawling around looking for herbs all damn day. And they would still need to keep doing it tomorrow. Ryuu was tired and anxious about his situation. “Well, at least after this, we can get back to civilization and looking for the next ingredient… then after that we can hit… Lady Isabelle’s palace. I’ve sent word what’s happening and if she could get one of the ingredients for me.” Ryuu trialed off with a distant look in his eye, Lady Isabelle was the woman that Ryuu had wanted to pursue for marriage, she did have an arranged marriage but the Duke and Duchess were warming up to him and even enjoyed his company. She had yet to turn 18 which is when the tradition of their land dictated that she was to be married. Her birthday was coming up soon too… of all the times for this to happen, he seemed to have found himself in some wretched luck. Still, she was a damn good friend and a sweet girl who would give you the shirt off her back if it would help. He just hoped… he didn’t change too much more than he did when he finally got to see her. It would make things awkward for sure.

Tobi ducked the rock, letting it zoom clean over his head and hitting the tree behind him. "Jesus Ryuu. If I didn't know better I would say that you were trying to hit me. Your even starting to throw like a girl." Tobias chuckled, and ducked his head back into the grass for another few hours of mind numbing, eye cringing searching. As dusk approached, it quickly got harder and harder to tell the difference between one plant and the next. Tobias was more then certain by that point he would miss the plant even if a bushel of them were right in front of his nose.
Tobias was thankful when it came to stop. There was an audible crack from Tobi's spine as he straightened up, and made his way over to where Ryuu was building a fire. In little time stew was made and camp was set up. Tobias ate heartily, having not payed much attention to his stomach most of the day. Despite not having eaten much, it was unsurprising that Ryuu was merely picking at his stew. Tobias noticed him doing that a lot lately. At first he would say nothing, but now...it bothered him during every meal. "Eat." Tobias said simply. "Or else I'll be dragging your a** from checkpoint to checkpoint on my shoulder. And I swear I'll make damsel jokes the entire way." Tobias warned. And despite the joking nature, he was entirely serious.
"Yes! Civilization!" Tobias cheered at the idea of not being in the middle of the wilderness. "Oh how I missed the sight of women. No offence Ry." Tobias said with a small chuckle. At the mention of Lady Isabelle however, Tobias fell silent and raised an eyebrow. "The Lady Isabelle?" Tobi asked, smirking slightly. "Well won't this be the wonderful bonding experience for you two." He said optimistically. As best friend, Tobias felt it was practically his sacred duty to help the fair lady get...her fair lady. Not to mention, Tobias would by no means argue at someone helping them find the ingredients. He really hoped the others weren't quite this tedious to gather.

”Yes mother…” Ryuu replied with a roll of his eyes when he was scolded for putting his stew back. He would at least let it warm up again before forcing himself to eat, If anything to make damn good and sure that he didn’t hear every damn damsel joke that ever existed come out of Tobi’s mouth. ”Spare me the patronizing, Tobi… I have a lot on my shoulders right now and everything boils down to having to find all these damn hard to get ingredients and a lot of luck that I’ve been lacking sense my last birthday. If I don’t get this potion made, I could lose my throne not to mention a list of other things that could potentially slip from my fingers because of this… not the least of which that I’ll be toting around a collection of girly parts the rest of my life. I’ll be the laughing stock of the kingdom.” Ryuu let the stew bubble and boil a few more minutes before he put some more back in his bowl, forcing himself to eat wasn’t easy, he almost felt like he was going to get sick because of it but he didn’t want mother hen over there to pick on him like a circus monkey because he didn’t or couldn’t eat anything.
When the topic of his love interest came up Ryuu looked pained for a moment. ”Actually, I’d rather not let her see me like this, it’s embarrassing enough that you’re seeing it, but I would rather not add the insult to injury by giving her a reason to laugh at me, do you think that you could pick up the ingredient for men and I’ll wait at an inn or something?” Ryuu brought his gloved hand to his head and rubbed his temple slightly, sighing heavily as though the thought of seeing the one that he loved laugh at him would be the end of everything. It wasn’t hard to see why either, Ryuu then turned the tables on his friend. So what about you? Find some chick to marry to get your father off you back about it? I know it would sure be nice to have my mom stop hounding me about wanting grandchildren. You’d think that if she wasn’t a grandmother that it would be the end of the world or something.”

Tobi sighed softly, letting the topic drop. As much as he tried to keep things light for Ryuu, there was a point at which even he wouldn't keep up his teasing. Ryuu was hurting, Tobias could see that. He just wished there are more he could do to help then just keep a light atmosphere and help look for some needles in a pile of needles. While Ryuu explained that he would rather not see the Lady Isabelle, Tobias tilted his head slightly. "But don't chicks dig the whole damsel in distress deal? She'll probably swooning all over you for being you light in the darkness and such." Tobias said with a light smile. "But really though, the way you talk about her I didn't think it was possible for her to laugh at anyone. You make her sound almost saint like sometimes. Though, I suppose if your absolutely sure, alright I'll go ahead and get the ingredients for you." Tobias finally agreed. However Tobias didn't particularly like this idea of his friend playing cowardly lion. It would be a tricky situation to ensure that Isabelle didn't think that Ryuu was hiding from her or something of that sort.
While Ryuu warmed up his stew for a second time and try to eat, Tobias rolled out his makeshift bed, and lied down, looking at the stars. It had been a long day, and it was probably best if they got some sleep. "As I tell my father...I'll marry when I'm damn good and ready to. The right woman is out there somewhere, I just need to wait is all. And I have no intention of jailing myself to any random girl that I wouldn't love just to keep my father happy." Tobias said, frowning deeply at the idea. Him and his father had spoken about it just before he left for this trip actually. Spoken was perhaps a kind word for it. "As for Ana...hey well what can you expect? She has two kids grown up. Maybe it's an empty nest thing."

Ryuu was having a hard time getting to sleep, the food that he had forced down didn’t do any favours for his attempt at sleeping. Ryuu had parked his sleeping bag not too far from where Tobi seemed to have already have fallen asleep. Ryuu tossed and turned while periodically looking up at the stars in the open sky, a thousand and one problems bubbled to the top of his head as he reviewed his situation and how far he still had to go. He closed his eyes but no matter how hard he tried, sleep refused to claim him. Sighing and knowing he wasn’t going to get anywhere feeling sorry for himself, he eventually pushed himself up and grabbed a lantern and took it over to the field. Working under a dim light was no easy feat, but his eyes were slowly getting used to it. Ryuu hated to admit it, but he was starting to feel a little homesick and he was more than missing the comforts of home. It wasn’t as though he couldn’t rough it out in the woods for a few weeks, but there was always the comforting notion of having a nice warm bed to go home to afterwards or if things got too much for them… but now he didn’t have that safety. He would have to stay out here until he gathered everything, or he would die trying… or he would stay in the wood because he was a girl for the rest of his life and he would never be able to show his face in front of anyone ever again…
Ryuu grumbled darkly to himself as he continue to shuffle through all these damnable shrubs that looked so damn similar to what they were looking for. After a few hours Ryuu had managed to find one, there was an exhausted but triumphant smile as he brought it up to examine it, that put them at four… they needed to find two more. Ryuu was starting to get an ever so slight ball of excitement that bubbled in his guts, despite the fact that he still had a monumental task in finding two more. Now that they found over half, the last bit was going to be the hardest to find… Murphy’s law dictated this. However, Ryuu pushed on, dauntless of the task and unable to sleep, it would be marvelous if he was able to get them before dawn. A pressure was starting to mount in Ryuu’s chest and the familiar sensitivity was starting to spark pain and discomfort. He gritted his teeth and pushed onward. He would have to adjust his bindings before Tobi woke up but he had a fair amount of time before that happened.
Tobi’s dreams were not free from the mischievous sprites that haunted the world and plagued the dreams of mortals. Tobi’s dream would take him to what appeared to be luxurious, large room of sorts that almost took on a look of a high class bordello, it was comforting though, and there was a strong smell of incents that relaxed and threatened to ignite the passion of mortals. There was one other in the room with him, a woman with skin as pale as the moon and curled, raven locks that reached down past her rear walked into view. Her lower face was vaguely masked by a tinted purple Fatina veil, her lips were full and panted what appeared to be a gentle pink and upon closer inspection she looked like… Ryuu?! The voluptuous woman sashayed over to Tobi, her harem outfit was a darker purple with gold accents, the gold coins on her top jingled as she approached him before she threw her veil over his shoulders and gently pulled him towards a large stack of silk pillows. “What is your pleasure, my Lord?” She asked in a purring tone as she trailed a finger along his jawline. Her eyes were so deep and hypnotic, like you could lose yourself in them for all eternity. When she managed to get Tobi to the pillows, she cuddled close to him, offering him grapes and letting her fingers teasingly run over his arms and legs, chest and face.
Tobi was probably in for a damn good dream.

After the long a** day of riding, and then looking for hours through a needle in a stack of needles, it didn't take long for Tobias to fall asleep. Not by any means. Almost as soon as his head hit the pillow he was down for the count. His dreams bounced from subject to subject for a while before they settled on a harem like setting. It wasn't necessarily an unfamiliar dream setting for him. But this time there were defiantly one distinct difference.
Instead of a harem filled with beautiful lusty women just aching for him, it was one. A dark haired voluptuous girl in purple with a voice like wine. "Where have you been hiding darlin?" Tobi purred, letting himself get pulled into the pillows. Tobi took once of the offered grapes and held it in his teeth. He pulled the pretty little thing on top of him, pulled the veil out of the way, and pressed his lips to hers to share the fruit, making her taste like grapes, with her own little hint of cinnamon and incense. It wasn't until he pulled out of the kiss that he got a good look at the girl. Those dark stormy eyes that he had seen a million times before. It took him a moment to pull himself out of a lustful haze to realize just where he had seen those eyes before. "R-RYUU?!" Tobias nearly choked on grape juice and pushed his friend turned woman off of him. "What in the hell?!"

While Tobi was chasing skirts in his dream, Ryuu was working hard to finish up his search. Through the lite of his lantern he scoured the plain to find his prize, he found one more about three hours into his search, a few more… he just needed a few more then he could official tick this off of the list of ingredients that he needed for his potions.
There was a giggle as the maiden was guided on top of Tobi, she gave a little purr and ran her hands over his muscled torso, offering as much of herself and her grapes to the boy. He was welcomed to as much as he wanted, judging by way that she was interacting with him. When he offered the grape on his lips she lowered herself and wrapped her arms around him the best she could, allowing him to move her veil off to the side where her lips were able to gently take what he offered. She met his lips and more or less ignored the grape that had been moved to inside her mouth. Then, something unexpected happened. He suddenly pushed her off onto the pillows and off of him. She laid there, her arms above her head, poised as though she was still expecting him to come over and finish with passion that lips couldn’t. She gave him something of a strange look, making her look all the more desirable. “My name is not Ryuu, Lord… it’s…” The girls words were unable to reach his ears, it was as though the dream couldn’t expose some secret that wasn’t meant for his ears yet. “Does my lord… not approve of what he sees?”

The night bleed into to the morning, the sun rose to kiss the valley as the pair of best friends lay sleeping in the tent, covered in dirt from their constant searching but otherwise fine. The changing prince had stay up till just about dawn in order to find the rest of the herbs that they needed in this area, he was exhausted when his head reached the pillow, but finally he was able to sleep, finally relieved and relaxed enough that he could rest. The morning became the early afternoon when Ryuu groaned and stirred from his slumber with the light glaring into his eyes. Ryuu winced before pushing himself up on his elbows and looked around, noticing that Tobius was no longer in the tent, sitting up he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, he could smell something cooking not far off, Ryuu had to take a moment to get his bearings and remember where he was. Ryuu was never a morning person, and today was no exception, he looked down and noted the herbs were still there and accounted for. After some shuffling around his head poked out of the tent flap to see his friend in front of a fire and cooking what looked like a couple of rabbits. It was about this time that Ryuu noted the position of the sun and how late in the day it was, the shock of the system gave him a jolt that caused him to kick into overdrive and he hastened to get the few clothes that he took off before bed back onto his body. Ryuu came out of the tent hopping on one foot while trying to get his other boot on. The beautifully androgynous looking prince curse his shoe a little bit before stumbling a few steps after he finally got his boot on and both of his feet planted firmly on the ground. ”Dammit Tobi why didn’t you wake me up?” Ryuu said a little agitated, he straightened out a bit, frowning while placing his hand on the bottom on his throat and trying clearing it, his voice was getting so foreign to him, having now getting a slightly higher pitch than what it was yesterday. His cheeks turned slightly pink as he once more cleared his throat and tried again, trying to ignore the more feminine tone that was now reverberating out of his throat. He crossed his arms and glared up at his friend somewhat. ”Why didn’t you wake me up earlier this morning, it’s going to take a couple of days to get to Lady Isabella’s palace and we’re kind of on a time crunch. Man my voice sounds weird to me.”
Deep down, Ryuu knew that he was being a bit… panicky… about this, and Tobi probably heard him come in just before dawn, having a few hours rest was not going to do him any good. He knew that, but… he just wanted to get this nightmare over with before there was no going back, not only for him… but for his sister too. Sure they had their disagreements and they seemed to solely exist to drive each other nuts. There were times the siblings had to be pulled apart before they tore each other to pieces, but, she was still his sister, and there was still a bond, no matter how much they got up each other’s nose. The last words that Nickolette said to him kind of haunted him, it was so full of fear and uncertainty, he had never heard it tone in her voice before… and then there was the fact that she asked him of all people for help to begin with. It… just wasn’t something that he could shake off. Ryuu started to frantically pull apart the tent and the shove things into his bag while Tobi seemed to continue to tend to the meal on the fire. Ryuu had forgotten his stomach for the most part, not to mention that he didn’t eat much last night either. After about ten minutes of pulling things down and frustrated howls through gritted teeth in a non-verbal curse at how uncooperative his pack seemed to be at the moment. Finally when frustration reached it boiling point he came up above Tobi and was about to give it to his friend both barrels when a cooked rabbit was shoved into his face with a grin on the other end. Ryuu froze for a moment and blinked a couple of time at the meal that smelled so good. Ryuu’s stomach gurgled and he sighed in defeat. ”Thanks…” He said and sat down. He took a bit of his rabbit and looked over at his friend, seriously, where would he have been right now without him… probably starving and running around with a chicken with its head cut off. His eyes widened a fraction when his best friend looked over at him for a second before dropping his gaze. ”Needs some salt.” Ryuu chewed his food for a moment and looked over at Tobi while he was apparently looking at him. His gaze softened and an honest to god smile blossomed across his face, a chuckle bubbled in his stomach forcing him to swallow so that he didn’t choke on his meal he was currently working on. He didn’t really know what was so funny spar that rather snobby request. Maybe he just needed to relieve some stress and his body just did the first thing that came to mind. Soon as they finished eating, they could pack up and head out to the next place they needed to be. Ryuu was glad to have a friend with him, he was glad that he had a friend that he could rely on. He would have to find a way to thank Tobi when this was finished. Maybe he could take him out on the royal hunt or something manly that he liked to do. Ryuu once again raised a chunk of rabbit to his lips. The trip might actually be fun, the reason may have been a nightmare but… maybe something good may just come out of this, his mother always told him to try and look on the bright side of things, perhaps he wouldn’t have to look far this time?

After a rather...bizarre dream, though a good dream at that in some sense, Tobias slept like a baby throughout the night. He woke with the birds, the newly rising sun peaking in through the flap on the tent and a damp coolness yet clinging to the ground beneath him. He glanced over at Ryuu, and grinned mischievously. Ryuu had only slumped down in the tend roughly an hour ago, and was currently sprawled over the floor, his hand holding on to the pile of herbs like it was a lifeline. Which, in a way it was. Gods it he ever found out about that dream he had, well lets just say Ryuu would likely take full advantage of the teasing information. Tobi fully indented to keep that his little secret.
Carefully, Tobias crawled out of the tent, careful not to wake the little princess. Ryuu was likely going to kill him for not waking him, but hey, this was likely going to be the only forced sleep he was going to get. Once outside, Tobi quickly went ahead and started preparations to leave. He packed up most of his own things, including the bedroll and the other bits and bobs lying around. The only things he didn't get stow away were their meager cooking supplies. But before they were going to cook anything, they needed something to eat! Luckily, Tobias had the foresight the night before to set a couple rabbit snares near the campsite, a little skill that his mother (of all people) had taught him how to do. Rabbits were a panicky creature, and were best left alone if you ever wanted to catch one.
The young marquis walked around the bushes and skirted the edge of the forest near the field where the grass was still trampled looking from their herb search the day before. Most of the snares were sadly empty, but upon reaching the last two, Tobi found a couple of rabbits had been caught. It wasn't much, but it would suit them for breakfast. He also spotted a few safe mushrooms nearby, and a berry bush. While he wasn't much for the green stuff, food was food. He gathered what he could, and returned back to their campsite. Upon return he was glad to see that Ryuu hadn't risen in an unholy panic just yet. With the precious time he was sure he had, Tobi quickly started a small cooking fire, and skinned the rabbits before setting them on a spit over the fire.
The rabbits were just about cooked when CRASH, out came Ryuu in all his morning glory. Though by the sound of his voice, using male pronouns was starting to seem a tad inappropriate. "Morning Princess. Did you sleep well?" Tobi asked, laughing lightly at the haggled, flustered Ryuu trying to take apart a tent with as much haste as possible. "And I didn't wake you because if we meet up with another bunch of bandits I didn't want you to fight on an hour of sleep. Isabella's palace isn't going anywhere, and you said yourself that the curse doesn't have a time limit for a cure." Tobias said, rather level headedly, yet still laughing at Ryuu all the same. Tobi pulled the now cooked rabbit off the spit, and put it on a plate with half of the mushrooms and berries. "Eat" Tobi said simply, "Before you go off and start fainting like a damsel on me." Tobias then filled his own plate and sat by the fire to eat. He ignored the comment about salt, knowing that Ryuu was only saying it because he was cranky about not being woken up. Luckily the crankiness was quickly giving away to some sort of fit of laughter. "Are you alright there sport? Not going loopy on me are you?"

It took Ryuu a little while to calm down from the giggles that had suddenly burst out of him. His sides were hurting and tears had burned his eyes. Yeah, it was probably safe to say that Ryuu had a brief hick-up in his sanity… but his laughter was just so damn contagious. When he did finally calm down a little bit he gave a bit of a defeated smile at nothing in particular and looked down at his rabbit, answering Tobi before he started eating again. ”I don’t know any more Tobi, I sometimes wonder if I was ever really sane at all… we’ll compromise and say I’m two steps from madness, how about that?” God this rabbit tasted good, the mushrooms and berries were surprisingly good too. Maybe it was because he didn’t eat well last night and the relief of actually getting one of the ingredients had made way for his hunger to allow itself to be satiated once more. It would probably make Tobi feel good to see Ryuu not leaving one ounce of meat on the bones of the rabbit, there was no worry about him not cleaning his plate this meal. Though the table manners that Ryuu was displaying right now were certainly less than what was standard for a princess.
Half way through the meal, Ryuu paused and his eyes narrowed slightly. ”The next stop is Lady Isabelle’s… I really don’t want to go there Tobi.” There was a beat of silence before he looked over Tobi again. ”Do you think that she would recognize me if I said that I was one of the Dread Knights coming with you to help pick up the ingredients?” Ryuu’s last question almost sounded like some sort of pleading hope that Tobi would say yes and that he would be able to pass undetected. At least that way he could spare himself the indignity of having to face his love like the Androgynous freak that he felt like. Ryuu returned to his meal, and after he finished cleaning a leg bone he tossed it at Tobi’s head, fully intending to nail him with it this time. ”That’s for calling me a ‘Princess’ earlier, I’ll let it go this time because you got breakfast for me… but next time I’ll roast you over the spit, got it?”
After the meal was done, the plates were wash and Ryuu tossed his bones out into the field to be enjoyed by the scavengers, he started to pack his things again, he had loaded his stuff up so hasty that he made a huge mess and needed to be done again. Ryuu learned that haste made waste, but it was a lesson that would probably be ignored a few more times before the lesson sunk in fully. With their horses ready to go they started to load up their stuff… though Ryuu seemed to having a little trouble getting his bag up to tie to his horse. Urgh… of all the indignities! Sure it was a little heavy for him last night but this was pathetic! He was struggling to get it to his shoulder so he could at least nudge it on. His pride refused him to let him ask Tobi for help, eventually though, he let the pack come to a rest at his feet. Credit where credit was due, it wasn’t a light pack, holding cooking stuff, tent and sleeping gear as well as few other things like his b*****d sword, it wasn’t a light lift for anyone. Still, it was more than a little embarrassing to be working up a sweat failing to get this stupid thing on the saddle. Ryuu’s upper body strength was eroding with each change, and things were slowly starting to get heavier. Ryuu looked over at Tobi with a bit of a defiant look, fully aware that he had more or less made a spectacle of himself trying to do this. ”I swear to god, Tobi, if you make one more Damsel joke…”

"You have a deal." Tobias agreed. Tobias soon finished his own breakfast and one by one tossed the bones into the woods while Ryuu continued to eat. When there was nothing else to throw Tobi poked at the fire a bit, turning over the sticks as if to ensure the whole thing was reduced to ashes. At the mention of Lady Isabelle's palace, Tobias looked over at Ryuu with a mixed expression. While he wanted to give his friend some hope, he didn't want to plant false hope, since it tended to sting more when it didn't come true. "I don't know Ryuu….you still look a lot like you. You know, she's a sweet woman. She might just understand if you told her the whole story." Tobias answered, as it was really the only thing he could think of saying.
Tobias was looking at the fire again when he felt the light thwack of a leg bone hitting him in the head. He looked over with a grin on his face. "I'd like to see you try." He almost seemed to be daring. "And since you've come to the point of throwing bones, like a girl I might add, I'd better start packing up." Before anything else could be thrown at him, or some attempt made at being roasted over a spit, Tobias got up and started packing away the last of his things into his saddle bags. The cooking equipment, and other bits and bobs left around the camp site. He swiftly and easily hoisted the bag onto his mere's back, and strapped it securely to the saddle. Just as he had finished, he heard the soft grunts and sighs of Ryuu having a fair amount of difficulty with the bag. Grinning, Tobias walked over, picked up the saddle bag with one arm, and easily slid it onto the back of Ryuu's horse. Tobias secured it to the saddle before saying anything to Ryuu. "I wouldn't dream of it M'lady." Tobias replied, giving a brief and shallow bow, and then bolting for his horse before Ryuu found something to hit him with. Tobias jumped on his horses' back, and waited for Ryuu to do the same before starting into a light gallop towards their next destination.

”You’re lucky I haven’t learned how to shoot bolts of black lightning out my eyes yet, Tobi!” Ryuu responded with a bit of a hiss, failing his arms in the air as if he was trying to appear bigger than he actually was… though he was more doing it to get out the sudden burst of frustration that he had knowing that his best friend just poked him in the side once more with his playful ribbing. Ryuu was at least able to pull himself into the saddle of his horse quickly enough to catch up to Tobi in little time. The morning was starting to pass fairly quickly and quietly, Ryuu and Tobi were going back and forth with their usual banter and even Tobi was starting to get through the gloominess that Ryuu was carrying around with him. He was obviously more relaxed now that he had one of the ingredients that he needed to change back. As far as he was concerned, he was a few days ahead of schedule, it was a good feeling to have at least some level of control back in his life where he felt none before. But as will all good things, the peacefulness of the morning wasn’t meant to last. Ryuu got an uneasy feeling before he quietened down and started to look around. It seemed that Tobi was on the same page as he too, was starting to look around. Ryuu knew that they were surrounded, but he didn’t know how many bandits there where this time.
Ryuu frowned. ”Well… it looks like we got company Tobs, the uninvited kind.” With that said, the bandits emerged from their hiding places, Ryuu’s eyes widened a fraction when he saw how many there were. This was no minor bandit rabble, this was a hoard of them and they looked like they meant business. Ryuu’s stare became hard he noted that this… might take a while longer than the previous bunch of idiots they dealt with. Ryuu reached behind him to grab his sword, by the time that he had gotten a firm grip on the handle though, a large rock made contact with the side of his head with what sounded like a thunderous crack in his own ears. His vision went black for a moment and he fell from his saddle and rolled a few inches before he found his senses again and grabbed the handle of his sword again. He pulled it from its scabbard and was immediately thrown off balance by its weight. Damnation! When did his blade get so heavy? This was not going to be a good fight for him if he wasn’t able to even handle his blade effectively. It took some hulking to get it on his shoulder even with two hands and the sudden realization of his situation caused sweat to start to form on Ryuu’s brow. Blinded in one eye from the blood that flowed from where the rock hit, he was certainly not in a good position. To make matters worse, he noted that there were a lot of bandits who seemed to sense his troubles and started to gang up on him.
When the bandits first descended upon him, he swung his sword, hoping that the weight of the weapon would be to his favour as he tried to adapt his fighting style to take advantage and use his momentum to make himself harder to hit. His movements were too easy to read though, and his blows were easy enough to dodge or parry, and with the sheer number of the bandits that had ganged up on them, it was only a matter of time before he felt the short sword of a bandit run all the way through his right shoulder while he was trying to recover from being thrown off balance when a bandit parried him. With his dominant arm out of commission, he let the heavy blade fall to the ground as he grabbing his shoulder in pain. He needed to do something fast, as the bandits pounced on him he could feel the cold parting of flesh as more weapons pierced his back and impaled his left leg. There was a blast of darkness that sent the mob that had fallen upon him sprawling in all directions. Ryuu was breathing heavily and glaring out at the world with the eye that wasn’t closed to prevent blood from entering it. This was going to be a taxing fight, but right now he didn’t have another option. He could use a weapon at all right now so he was going to need to rely on his magic until he reached the Kingdom of Lady Isabella.
Ryuu made a mental note to get a lighter blade when he went to town…

Tobi laughed heartily before an uneasy quiet settled around them. Ryuu said exactly what he was thinking, and Tobias wasted no time to get to his sword. Hell would freeze before he was caught off guard again. If a chorus of shouts and cheers, Tobias and Ryuu found themselves very much surrounded. Had to be at least double what it was last time, and of a much higher caliber. Expecting this fight would be similar to the last, with Ryuu at his back, Tobias leaped from his horse, sword in hand and charged for the bandits. He didn't waste time working up a fury, slicing down whatever bandits got in his way. A particularly agile one danced around his blade for a few swings before he managed to get it in the side.
It was around this time that Tobias realized that Ryuu was in trouble. He could hard lift the sword, let alone swing it with any skill. "Ryuu!" Tobias called. His one moment of distraction gave a pair of bandits opportunity to jump on his back from the branches above. With the rush of adrenaline he hardly felt the blade sliding in his shoulder. Before it was able to do much more then flesh damage, Tobias pulled the bandits off him with a strength that seemed far more then that he should possess.
Once he was free enough to move, Tobias returned to Ryuu's side after a blast of darkness had cleared an area around them. "Stay close." Tobi barked, his voice suddenly beastly and rasping. There was an enraged, and somewhat cruel look glowing in his normally light hearted eyes. As the group of bandits started to charge on them again, Tobi brought his hand up at it spontaneously burst into flame. He blew, and flames shot out towards the bandits. The flames caught fire to the ground, making a wall of flame between Tobias and Ryuu and the bandits. "Get ready. The fire won't keep them back for long." Tobias ordered in that same rasping voice, helping Ryuu to stand on his own two feet.

Okay, seriously… what was with Tobi? Ryuu looked at his friend a little strangely before he accepted the help up with his off hand. God, being stabbed right through wasn’t a happy, tender feeling and he grabbed his shoulder again and grimaced. He took a few hissing deep breaths and calmed himself and try and push away the pain. Closing his eyes he brought the darkness closer to him and started to provoke it for his magic, the darkness started to flow around him and scatter his ebony hair into a chaotic dance, with his androgynous look it made him almost look like some sort of wicked enchantress, more dark and alluring than Ryuu would ever admit to being. Opening his eyes the darkness stirred into aggression. ”Alright Tobi, I’m ready.” Ryuu replied, his voice sounding rather ethereal… his new feminine tone really seemed to tie the wicked temptress thing together well… more teasing for him later, he was sure. But right now it was time for serious business. ”I’ll keep them off of you the best I can… but…” Ryuu grimaced, his control waned for a brief second before he got it back under control once more. The pain was making it hard to concentrate. He felt so helpless right now, and he hated that feeling. All he could do now was rely on Tobi and provide only as much back up as he possibly could. Ryuu held out his left hand and watched as the darkness gathered and formed into a giant hound, its eyes burned like balefire and its slick looking coat was the color of charcoal. ”Seek and Destroy.” Ryuu commanded calmly and the hell hound took off towards the bandits in a frenzy of power and snapping jaws. The first bandit who was unfortunate enough to come under its fang was brutally mauled and savagely ripped to pieces. While the Hell hound did its own thing, Ryuu did his best to keep the other bandits off his friend with tenticles of darkness that swatted leaping bandits and threw others into trees. With only one eye able to see as the other one was caked closed with his own blood, Ryuu was doing his best to keep up. Hearing a deep throated yelp, he turned to see that the summoned hell hound was cut in half by one of the bandits. Ryuu grinned though, as he watched the two halves form into two separate hounds and proceed to get their revenge on the bandit before moving on. ”I got all the glory last time, old friend, I’ll let you have it this time… because if I don’t you’ll be moping around for the rest of the trip and having a little pity party for yourself.”

Tobias couldn't hit but smirk. The bandits were starting to panic. Their usual pray likely didn't fight back with fire and nightmares. He might have left the multiplying hounds to finish the job, but there were still enough left that needed dealing with. "My pleasure" Tobias said finally to Ryuu, propping his friend against a tree before walking through the wall of flames earlier created to approach the bandits.
Tobi's hand lit with flame once again. The flames also traveled down the blade of his sword. "Maybe next time you'll think twice about an ambush before you play with fire." Tobias taunted the bandits, swinging his sword at the closest bandit. The bandit did dodge, but by not enough to escape the fire. His clothes became alive in it, and his screams pierced the forest as he stumbled around to the scent of scorched flesh.
The longer this fight went on, the more obvious it became that Tobias was just becoming more vicious by the second. The bandits had managed to get a gash on his rip cage, and another on his leg. Finally one bandit had managed to disarm Tobias with a clever parry. When Tobias's sword clattered to the ground, the bandits let out a chorus of hollers as if it were some sort of victory before moving in for the kill. Tobias went past the point of rage. The last Ryuu would see of Tobi before the bandits surrounded him was a cruel grin and a hollow laugh.
Surrounded, Tobias brought up the flames again, blowing them in an arc in front of him. Those bandits that he didn't managed to set aflame jumped him. Without a sword, Tobias was left with his only remaining weapons, a set of black claws that had recently grown from his hands. Between the dark hounds and Tobi, the only sounds were that of rending flesh and the screams of the dead. With the very last bandit, Tobias grabbed him by the head, and in a swift moment Tobi's head descended and ripped out the bandits jugular with his teeth.
That was it. The bandits reduced to blood soaked corpses scattered over the charred ground. The flames disappeared as quickly as they came, and Tobi fell to his knees in the middle of his little circle of bodies. His low growls still ripped savagely from his teeth. Though now the anger was turning inwards. He looked at his hands, bloodied and scaled as they were. How did he let it go that far? Tight fists would held over his eyes, and slowly, the fists became human like again. When the beast felt sufficiently subsided, he got up and walked over to Ryuu. "Come on...we have to get you to a medic." Tobias said roughly, his voice almost returned to normal. Hopefully the horses were still nearby.
