The stallion gave a slight nod, he had heard of the graveyard that was not far from this location, but he had yet to visit it himself. He looked off in the direction of the first site in their journey. "The graveyard it is." This thoughts returned to that day when he first met Lament, "I am sorry that my father was not more helpful that first time we encountered."

Lament looked at her feet, he had been but a foal then. She could scarcely recognize him compared to then. He was a stallion grown, tall and sturdy. It seemed he had followed in his father's footsteps.
"I met him before," her voice is quiet. "Before you were born, the first time. Your father and I have had cause to meet over the years, again and again."

The angeni looked over at the mare, he had known she had met his father in the past, but he did not know that it was continuous. "Was he able to help at all?" Westrion was curious, what was he trying to do? If his father could not help this mare, how could he even think of achieving what seems to be an impossible goal?

"Did he help?" She let the question hang in the air. Had he? He had saved her life over and over, steered her from that path that led to everlasting darkness. He had stopped her from ending everything.
"Yes," she gives a sigh. "He helped me not to lose myself, but he never did help me find myself. He never pushed me to search for them, never helped me like you have offered. He was aloof and distant. He would give me a path to walk alone. The days would bleed away, and I'd lose myself completely. Just when I thought it would be over, he would come to me again."
She could feel the burn in her eyes, "He saved my life over and over....that is something. I wish he had done more, maybe he couldn't. That first time, when I could not even tell him my name. He gave me one. Sometimes, I think he knew what my name was before but that he was making me find it on my own. Sometimes, I wondered if I had not just dreamed him up entirely."

Why had he not heard of these stories before from his father? Was the mare telling the truth? She had to be, her words were filled with honesty. Perhaps it was a false truth that she believed to be true? Westrion was not sure what the actual story was, since he was not there, so he took the mare’s word as fact. His father had found her, and guided her so she did not become completely lost in the dark abyss. The stallion bowed his head to the mare, “I am not my father, I will help you find yourself and I will walk this path with you if you allow me. I will be here with you for as long as you need me.” There was something about this mare that Westrion could not deny; there was a force that kept pulling him toward her. Who was this Lament? And what did the Fates have in mind for the two of them?

The strings pulled and fate bound them together. She felt it as keenly as if it was actually tangible. Her body was close to his, and she could look up into his eyes. She sighed gently, "Then we should go. But I don't know where..."
It was then she remember the old saying, 'every journey begins with a footstop'. She pushed her hoof forward, she could do this. She wasnt' going to be alone.
"Thank you," she moved along beside him. "Thanks for going with me, I can't do it alone."
