Matthew stepped away just in time. "So it would seem." Matt laughed.
"What's going on? Why didn't i move on? I thought spirits found peace." He said as he stepped out with Ilios. Something about Matthew was off. He seemed weaker, more fragile. Mortal.

Ilios stared at Matthew. He indeed seemed to be like a mortal now. Ilios smiled at the teacher warmly. "In a way, you moved on. But unfortunately for you, I came here to bring you back," Ilios explained, "It's all my fault. My ex-wife - the Mistress of this Underworld - is not actually your biggest fan, and so she kidnapped your spirit. That is why you are here and not..."
This Underworld, like many other ancient underworlds, was actually a kingdom or a city of the dead spirits. In those cultures, everyone often ended up into the same place after death. It didn't matter what kind of people they were during their lifetime - they all shared the same destination.
Then Ilios heard some sounds of... Eating. Soon he realized that the other beasts were literally eating through the large corpse which blocked the entrance.
"... I'm sorry," he said and looked at the entrance. It was only a matter of time when they would get some not-so-pleasant company. ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ Ή λ ι ο ς ☀ 𝕰VERYONE IS CARRYING SADNESS AROUND WITH THEM. SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. Matthew scratched his head. "Why would she do that? She and i have no quarrel, not that i know of anyway-wait..ex-wife? I see." Matthew said, it clicked now.
"So what now? Even if we manage to leave this world, i will be a ghost." Matthew said.

The sun deity blushed. He remained silent for a while.
"...heh."
But they indeed did have a dilemma. Ilios had to get Matthew out somehow. Many people who came back from the underworld had their bodies still in the human world. But Matthew, whose body was cursed and now long gone, didn't have anything left. Then there was the option of re-creating the body from the elements. It would consume way too much energy, and it was slow. It was also possible to be reborn, like Ilios did once in a while. But when mortals are reborn, they will be born like any other child. Ilios was an exception, since he was a god and not a mortal. He was born differently from the very beginning. Not even all gods can do it as easily as he does, because it was not their job. Every deity was very different. They had their unique powers and personalities.
"Matthew. Would you like to be a god?" the golden-eyed man asked suddenly. ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ Ή λ ι ο ς ☀ 𝕰VERYONE IS CARRYING SADNESS AROUND WITH THEM. SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. Matthew raised an eyebrow. He had tired of immortality, why would he want to be a god? One such being was immortal. He sighed.
"I want to move on, not return. I've lived too long." Matthew defended. The beasts ate their way through at that very moment.

Ilios aimed at the entrance. "I." One down. "think." Two down. "that." Three down. "you." Four down. "don't." Five down. "have." Six down. "any." Seven down. "other." Eight down. "options." Nine down. "left." Ten down. "right." Eleven down. "now!" Twelve down.
"It's the fastest way out!" "If the loneliness of the immortality still bothers you... Then I promise to stick with you for good," the sun deity said. He also thought that they really should start moving before the next wave.▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ Ή λ ι ο ς ☀ 𝕰VERYONE IS CARRYING SADNESS AROUND WITH THEM. SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. Matthew was going to respond before sounds of more beasts or whatever those things were appeared. "Then i promise to stick with you for good." At these words Matt nodded slightly. "Well...what would i have to do?" He wondered. He tried his best to hide a small smile.

Knowing Matt's thoughts made the sun deity's heart skip a beat. His unique ability caused him to waste a second of their precious time.
They were in a hurry, and so he had to focus on thinking. Down there the resources for all kinds of rituals were rather limited. There was nothing in the dark dungeon. Nothing of use, at all.
Then Ilios smiled gently. He touched the wall, and a branch of a tree broke through it. There was a one, lonely fruit waiting on it's branch. Ilios picked the fruit, which looked awfully lot like a normal pomegranate.
"The sweet poison called "Eternity". If you are prepared to drink it, together we will live again."
He squished the sturdy fruit with one hand, and juice dripped out. It was indeed sweet, yet poisonous.
Even after the ritual, they would have to walk out of the gates together. And if they ever look back in the main stairs, they won't make it. And what made the situation even worse was the fact that Ilios heard a sound coming closer. It was not the monsters, but it was foot steps. ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ Ή λ ι ο ς ☀ 𝕰VERYONE IS CARRYING SADNESS AROUND WITH THEM. SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. Matthew thought about, all the possibilities. A moment passed and he held out a hand to catch the falling juice. He was already dead, what else did he have to loose? With a single motion he poured the meager amount of juice into his mouth. It was sweet, with an odd kick to it.

"It will be over soon," Ilios said and smiled gently.
The pomegranate of the Eternity. The red, death-dealing and life-giving fruit.
When the fruit was created from the Life, it was heart-warming. One seed was enough to offer life and luck.
So in this situation, the question was simply... Death or Freedom? And the question was answered on the moment when Matthew decided to drink the poison.
Ilios was the Sun who supports life, and so created the Life fruit. It had the sweetest poison of the world, which drowned the victim to a warm, delightful feeling. You would close your eyes, just to soon wake up full of life. The poison that kills the "death" in you.
When the Life draws closer to you, you might also catch a glimpse of the reason behind your life. For Ilios, it was the Sun. He was created for the purpose, and it had always been obvious for him. So, as a god he was the embodiment and protector of the sun.
But what will Matthew protect, what kind of god will he be?
Whatever the answer is, Ilios will be there to witness it soon. And so will be the person who is now standing at the door - Rheia.▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ Ή λ ι ο ς ☀ 𝕰VERYONE IS CARRYING SADNESS AROUND WITH THEM. SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. Matthew dropped to one knee, he felt strange. His eyes flashed briefly. His body warmed and he radiated a warm heat. Incredible visions appeared before his eyes.
He saw a beautiful land with fire of all colors, he saw the fire in the eyes of every living being, alive just as the flame was. Next he saw a vision of an epic war, both sides fighting with everything they had. Last of all, his eyes were now gazing upon hero's past, each in the golden moment that defined them.
His body seemed to be wrapped in heat, as the heat wrapped around him, a flamboyant new outfit seemed to appear out of thin air.[x]
He opened his eyes, his eyes were still the same shade of green, but they seemed more alive.

Ilios, who had the ability of seeing the life's events on a level that others often can't, knew what was happening. Rheia, who lacked this ability, could only guess what was happening. Ilios and Rheia had similar traits - they both were ruling over animals, and they both were skilled in archery. And yet, they were so different.
"What did you do?!" "Ah, hello again, ‘Ρεια." "Answer me!" The sun deity just smiled. They indeed had their differences. For example, Ilios was peaceful by nature, and more skilled in archery than Rheia.
"ANSWER M-" One quick draw and a well aimed shot, and Ilios had kneecapped the Mistress of the Underworld.
He knelt down and placed his hand on Matthew's shoulder. "Are you ready?" the sun deity asked and looked at the teacher's reborn eyes. "Soon we have to run for it. The only rule is to reach the gates without ever looking back," he explained, when he blew up another wall with the scorching heat of the sun to create an escape route.▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ Ή λ ι ο ς ☀ 𝕰VERYONE IS CARRYING SADNESS AROUND WITH THEM. Earlier Matthew seemed to be so close from Ilios. He used to be so dark in a way. Just like the night. But now he seemed to be much brighter. Ilios laughed a bit, stood up and followed him.
"ILIOS..!"
On the cold cobblestone roads of the Underworld, the two bright lights lighted the darkness.
To escape the world, they must definitely not look back. No regrets, no second thoughts. Just aim for the entrance until you reach it.
"Up the stairs! I left the gates open!" Ilios yelled.
He shot a few monsters that tried to block the way in front of them. Soon he reached the stairs and looked up. The gigantic gates were waiting. Rheia's curses and prayers could be heard through the whole realm. Her words echoed from the stone walls, and formed a melancholic and eerie melody.
She might have been his wife once upon a time, but yet the sun deity had absolutely no regrets. He had promised to stick with Matthew for good, after all. ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ Ή λ ι ο ς ☀ 𝕰VERYONE IS CARRYING SADNESS AROUND WITH THEM. SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. A few more creatures guarded the gates, Matthew pricked his finger and smirked, flicked the finger at them. The blood of the creatures boiled and they halted their attacks. With a satisfied laugh, Matthew burst through the gates, heeding the warning he waited still facing the same way. He would wait for Ilios.
