Remarque's jaw was firmly set, as though it were difficult for him to monitor his emotions. When he managed to unclench his teeth enough to speak, he was already brushing himself off, intent to remove any sign he'd been on the ground. "On the contrary, you ought to play as nicely as possible unless you're asking to have your a** kicked. Save that bravado for when you've got the strength to back it up. A senshi my rank could easily snap your neck in two, so it's best to stay on their good side when you're not even close to evenly matched. When you get stronger, I don't care how you play. Just as long as you aren't wasting any senshi. I can still make use of them if they live, but a dead senshi is just a waste."
He turned to face the lieutenant, and despite the grudge he knew he'd have, he held a hand down to help him up. "Do whatever you have to in order to survive. I get the impression you…have the potential to be of use to the Negaverse. But don't screw yourself over and get yourself killed before you get to the fun part, got it? If it's blood you're after, tend to the knights. As much as I wish the Dark Mirror Court could find use for them, they only serve to slow us down."

Buddingtonite was so relieved that his face was spared that he didn't once take offense to Remarque's rather harsh words and accepted his help back to his feet without a second's hesitation. No, he was still a little bitter about his remarks and for even threatening his face, but as heated as it got, Buddingtonite knew that he was right. Every word of it. He did the Negaverse great shame this evening, but it wasn't completely unsalvageable, at least not from the lieutenant's point of view. Most situations could be salvaged, if one was willing to work at it at a different angle. The topic of wasting Senshi, and Knights, made the lieutenant shake his head, and despite his harsh criticisms, he still managed to keep some of his wit about him to act civil. Now that there weren't anymore 'sparring' between them, Buddingtonite felt more comfortable, more in his zone, and it reflected in his voice as he explained. "If I had my way, there'd be no need for killing for either one. I'd rather convince them to join my side or force them, than kill them... but, if I'm unable to do either, then I'll keep your request in mind, Pit Viper." When he said the name, there was no malice in it, but mirth, as though Buddingtonite was now christening the Dark Mirror Senshi with a nickname. If Remarque didn't like it and requested him to stop, he'd relinquish it, but for Buddingtonite, nicknames meant that he found the person endearing and important enough to him to create a nickname for them. He didn't put too much emphasis on that, though, as he wanted to get back to business. They wasted enough of each other's time today. "I'll get better, one way or another. I'd rather spend time gaining allies than fighting enemies, but I'll keep your suggestions in mind. I have long legs, therefor long strides, which makes escaping a situation only slightly bit easier. Don't worry about me- I think I'll do just fine." He liked to think he was good at judging a situation, and while running away might have made him look cowardly, he was a firm believer of the phrase 'he who learns to run away, lives to fight another day'. There was no shame in that, so long as you won in the end. "Now, was there anything else we wished to discuss, or should I start stretching my legs elsewhere?" Kyuseisha no Hikari We can start wrapping this up soon, if you like. c:

Remarque's lip twitched into a bemused smirk; he might not have been overly fond of nicknames, though he wasn't going to throw a fit. Besides—Buddingtonite could have picked a vast number of far more obnoxious nicknames. He'd take Pit Viper—for now.
"You keep it up and put the effort into it and you will do just fine," Remarque replied, brushing his hands off on the colorful overlay he wore. It was as close to a compliment as he was prepared to give though considering how this meeting had begun, it seemed like excellent progress.
"Which means, I suppose I can let you off the hook. For now. You should ask Benitoite to catch you up on the Dark Mirror Court, he'll set you straight. Either that, or I'll meet up with you to discuss things properly."
If the Negaverse wasn't going to give them the introduction they deserved, he'd just have to do it himself.
Besides—he was interested in this lieutenant. And was just waiting for an opportunity to make sure he knew that knocking Remarque on his a** was a fluke.
"Though, regardless of methods, I'm sure we'll run into each other eventually. Perhaps simply in a more agreeable fashion, yes?"
It wasn't so much an inquiry as a demand; Remarque was all for sparring, though he wasn't sure if he'd be able to resist hitting the lieutenant if they had a repeat of today.

"Yes, this is a small city, despite what you'd think, and though we may not see eye to eye, we need to stick together," Buddingtonite said with a confident nod. Now that he had let out some steam and sparred with the Eternal Senshi, he felt renewed, revitalized, and he had almost completely forgotten the insults that were slung at him just moments ago. In retrospect, he couldn't blame Remarque, and he even found himself respecting him. He could only wonder if the rest of Remarque's court was like him, though there was one sure fire way to find that out on a later date. "I thank you for this lesson, Vice Captain. I'll definitely keep everything you said in mind, and when I return, I will be stronger." That was a promise. Though their methods may have been different, Buddingtonite had every intention of making his way up the ladder, one rung at a time, and he'd prove his worth to not only Remarque and his own Negaverse, but to the enemy as well. For tonight, however, he was more or less content to brush the dirt from his sleeves and be on his merry little way. He had learned much this evening and while he wanted to learn more, he didn't want to risk ruining their blooming 'friendship' by pushing the subject too far. He already managed to nearly get his face punched in, and that was enough thrills for one night. He tipped his hat to the Eternal Senshi, remaining pleasant and polite, despite everything else around him. "Until next time?" He summoned his pinwheel back to his hand and was off. He had a promise to fulfill, and the only way to fulfill that promise was by going out and doing his job. There was plenty of hours in the night left, and he wasn't going to waste a single second more of it. Kyuseisha no Hikari And consider this a wrap on my end! It was fun, as always! heart heart heart
