Solo RP

Oh, this would be a really good surprise. Aoife hoped so at least. She and Niall had been snuggled up in the sun for a decent little nap. Waiting until her twin drifted off to sleep, and she was sure he had because his breathing sounded deep and sleepy, the young seel carefully shifted herself away from her sleeping sibling. It wouldn’t take long. Not if she made sure to be fast. Niall wouldn’t even notice her gone. Nope. Aoife needed to be quick though.

The plan was to find something of interest for him, either specifically for him to for him to give to Iona. She was really nice and Aoife could tell that her brother liked her bunches. It was good that her brother liked his person. Dugan was really great too. She liked listening to him read stories and he sang nicely too, not that he sang very often. At least not when he thought anyone was listening! He and Iona would sometimes duet. That was just great. It almost seemed funny in a way. Not long ago at all both her and her brother were wary and suspicious of humans. They left stuff in the sea, as evidenced by her brother getting so desperately tangled up in the fishing detritus. The trainers come with big plans of getting at least one of every pokemon out there! Not everyone is as considerate as they ought to be and that was worrying. Fortune smiled on them with Dugan and Iona. They were good people who treated Niall and her really quite well.

Back to her quest though! Aoife wanted to be back before her brother stirred. With a bit of a glance up and down their little stretch of beach, the seel dove into the water. Lately their shell and interesting item finding luck over near the tide pools had been down and they hadn’t been finding much beyond the standard seaweed and little shards of driftwood. Nah! Those wouldn’t do. It had to be something pretty or interesting, something not too, too small. There had a couple of embarrassing incidents where she had accidentally swallowed a little stone or other. Moving through the water granted the young seel more agility and grace than she was afforded on land. Making her way down to the rocky, sandy bottom, Aoife began to nose around in search of something special. The sea was calm, so even her pushing of the sand didn’t cause too much of a stir. If she was lucky, perhaps she could do it all in one breath too! Gliding over the bottom, the seel poked about, occasionally using her flippers to swish away at the sand. Her lungs were starting to burn. She’d have to surface soon. With another swipe of her flippers, she turned toward the surface.

About halfway up, her eye caught sight of something. Pausing momentarily, Aoife returned her gaze to the bottom where she had been doing her searching. Something caught the light in a soft, subtle way, not like the fair sand of the bottom. What if she lost sight of it? She had to know what it was, but getting a breath was going to become a priority very soon. Making a split second decision, she turned back towards the bottom and grabbed hold of whatever was catching the light so. It was firm in her teeth, and large. She had to struggle to keep it in place as she ascended. Breaking the surface, Aoife gave a great exhale through her nose, causing a little spray of mist. Dipping her face back under the water, the seel gave her head a little shake to remove any sand from her mouth before heading to the shore. Setting down her cargo, she gave a delighted gasp. It was perfect! It was a pretty pearlescent shell, so shapely too! Niall would be sure to love it! Aoife hoped so. Gathering it back into her mouth, she made her way back to the sibling sleepy spot. Niall was still there; sound asleep as much as she could tell. She gave an excited wiggle and nestled the prize next to her twin’s head so that he’d notice it upon waking. Hee hee! She couldn’t wait to see his face when he woke, but that would wait until then. For now, she had to rest too. Otherwise, he’d know something was up! With a yawn, she settled in next to her brother and closed her eyes. She’d just keep an ear out for his waking. It’d be so good!

Finished RP
It was a date and a fine one at that! The two trainers had eaten a slightly late lunch at a beach side restaurant and then opted to go for a stroll along the sand and the surf. There was chatting, goofing around, and a bit of flirting. Definitely not a bad date by either of their reckoning. Dugan gave Iona’s elbow a little tug and he pointed out past the breakers. The young woman paused and looked out to see one luvdisc leap up out of the water, following shortly thereafter by another.

“Oh, wow,” Iona breathed. “How cool.” She gave a little titter, leaning up to give Dugan a bit of a kiss. “Aren’t we lucky?”
“Indeed we are.” He said with a sigh. “What do you say…we join ‘em for a swim!” Giving his date a playful nudge, he ended up with a startled gasp when she turned it around on him and he ended up on his hands and knees in the foaming surf. He chuckled with a shake of his head.

Iona, on the other hand, was cracking up. She backed away from her downed date with a few hopping steps backwards when he flicked some seawater at her. “Uh-uh! You can’t get meeee~!” She teased, giving a delighted shriek when he sprang up out of the water and came running after her, or did his best to quickly waddle after her with his wet clothes. With that, the two raced on down the beach.

A young seel wasn't altogether far from them. He wasn't moving--for he was stuck. It seemed an old fisher's net had been washed ashore--with the young seel in it! Though Niall had attempted to chew his way out--to butt at the rope and free himself, he had only succeeded in tiring himself.

"Seel, seel!" he called to the humans nearby, but his voice was captured by the beach winds. He called instead to his sibling, Aiofe. "Help, Aoife!" There was no way they could get him out by themselves. They needed something...something sharp. "See if they'll help?"

Uhhh. Oh dear. Oh dear, this wasn’t good. Niall was stuck and there wasn’t anything she could do to help him, at least not without risking getting stuck herself. The seel stuck near her twin brother, making little distressed sounds and looking around. Initially, the sound of the frolicking people hard worried her. What if they came close and she and Niall couldn’t get away! Well, she could, but she’d not leave her brother!

Aoife drew closer to her sibling when he called out for her. “What can I do?” Looking over toward the people, she gave a worried little whine but nodded. “I’ll try. Hang tight, Niall. I’ll be right back!” With that the young seel made her way over to where the humans were playing as quickly as her land gait would allow her. “Seel! Seeee-see-seeel!” She called out to them, feeling a little knot of anxiety settled in her gut when the two people stopped their goofing around and looked her way. “Seeel,” She added plaintively before turning and making her way back towards her brother, pausing often enough to see if the two humans were following along, which they were. “Niall,” Aoife called to her twin, “They’re coming! I’ve got them following me.”

“Oh, Dugan, look. I think those seel need our help. Look! One of them is stuck. Is that a…net?”

Dugan frowned as they drew closer. “Looks like. Hang on, little ones. We’ll help.”

Aoife came to a stop near Niall and made another soft series of distressed, worried sounds.

Iona drew close, kneeling down next to the net. “Ah, geez. You’re in quite a pickle aren’t you? Hold still, okay? Dugan, do you have your pocket knife on you?”

Dugan, having come to a stop nearer to the fretting, free youngster, nodded and fished into his pocket and tossed her his closed pocket knife. “Here.”

Niall was unable to show his graditude in his usual fashion. If it had been any other situation, the seel would have butted his horn against Aoife's. The humans were coming! They would help. Wouldn't they, now that they had seen him? Wouldn't they help? "Thank you," he said to Aoife, his dark gaze meeting hers. Those words conveyed more than his thanks; Niall was frightened. What if the humans couldn't get him out? What if a tentacruel in a nasty mood showed up? What if the humans decided to leave him and take his sister?

He watched Iona carefully as she spoke to him, eyes never leaving her hands. What was she going to do? "Seel?" he asked, inching as far from her as he could, tangled as he was in that net. It was only then that he seemed to notice Dugan's close proximity to his twin. He gave an angry snort, struggling against the ropes. "Be careful, Aoife!" he called to his sibling. "We don't know these humans."

They were young, but Niall had seen trainers leave the beach with other pokemon; and though he was caught in a net, he would do whatever it took to protect Aoife.

"You're welcome," Aoife muttered in return, anxiously watching the humans as they approached. Her and her twin had never needed any human's help before but this was a situation that neither of the seel could get out of on their own! Dreaful is what is was. "It'll be okay, yeah?" The sentence, half statement and have question. As if she were hoping to offer reassurance all the while needing some herself. Aoife wasn't worrying about herself, not worrying about being taken from her brother and him being left there, not fretting over whether or not some big meanie showing up to further complicate their day. She simply wanted her brother to be free again.

Iona shushed and soothed softly. "Don't thrash around too much, pup. I only want to help. Shh." She slowly and carefully opened up the pocket knife and kept the bulk of it hidden in her palm. The young woman didn't want to give the poor tangled thing a fright. That's the last thing she wanted. Cautiously, she began working at the tangled mess of netting. Some pieces were easier than others, feeling more worn by age and tidal action perhaps, some strands felt slimy from getting tangled in seaweeds. The angry snort and struggling the youngster gave made her pause. What was the matter? She followed the pup's gave to Dugan and its sibling. "We're not scouting around for pokemon, wee one. Dugan and I are on a date. We didn't come to be beach looking to catch and battle pokemon. Please calm down. I don't want anything getting tighter on you. Please, be still. I won't take long."

Aoife slapped her tail flippers against the damp hand in a heavy wet smack. "I will be, you goof! I don't want you getting tangled up worse! I dunno what I'd do if they couldn't get you out of there." She gave a soft, distressed whine at the mere thought. Niall was the best playmate and pillow and sibling ever. "Besides we have to trust them a little or why did I even bring 'em over?" The sister gave her brother a snort of a sort of her own.

Dugan glanced between the two seel and held up his hands. "You two can relax. We mean no harm. Easy now, little one. You don't have to cry so. Iona knows what she's doing. Watch and see."

"It'll be okay," Niall attempted to assure Aoife. "I'll be out soon, then we can get away." They wouldn't have to be caught. They'd be safe. Away from humans, away from scary tangly things--Niall wasn't sure what it was, but he had seen this sort of thing in the hands of a human!

"Seel?" he inquired of Iona, holding still so she could cut at the net. He fell silent then, listening to her words, attempting to comprehend them. She had a nice voice, he decided. A nice, kind voice. She didn't want to hurt them. "Seel seeeeeeel?" he asked, moving his right flipper closer to her. The rope had begun to cut into his skin there. It was tight, but not embedded--there wouldn't be a scar. Certainly uncomfortable for the young seel, but not nearly as bad as it could have been, he attempted to alert her to it. "Seel!"

It seemed, for now at least, he had decided he could trust her. Dugan however, he wasn't so sure about him.

The little lady seel gave her brother a nod. "Okay. That'll be good. Yeah." Aoife puffed a sigh, floofing up her fur a bit and tucking her flips close against her sides. She just wished that her brother was free already. It was scary and she couldn't do anything.

Dugan looked down to the seel nearest him and gave a little sigh too, crouching down where he was and tentatively reached out a hand to give the youngster's head a scratch at the base of her horn. "Heeey. It'll be alright. Iona's got nimble hands. She'll have your, ah, friend, sibling, ah...anyway, free in no time. Just watch, okay?"

Aoife had tensed slightly went the human man extended a hand towards her, but his touch was gentle and his hand was warm in spite of the fact that he was kinda wet too. His voice, thought she couldn't make out what he was saying, was saying whatever he was saying nicely. As such she relaxed a little, not much, but a little.

When the seel stilled, she gave him a small encouraging smile. "That's it." Iona continued cutting at the ropes and nets. Fishermen ought to be held accountable for nets carelessly tossed overboard or just left in the sea. Things like this happen when they aren't careful. "Huh?" She asked focusing in on the offered flipper. "Oh dear! I'll get that right away. Shh shh. I see it." Scooting a little closer to get a better look at what she was doing, Iona inspected the bound flipper. Not good at all, but it could definitely have been worse. Easing the pocketknife dull, flat side down against the seel's flipper, the woman gingerly began sawing and working at the rope, practically counting the fibers that thinned and broke at the work of the little blade. With a few moments of work, the rope fell away in her hand. "There. That's gone." She brushed her fingers over the fur where the rope had been. It hadn't broken the skin or anything. "That ought to feel better. Now to finish the rest of it." Iona held the knife between her teeth as she pulled the loose rope and netting away to sort out what was left and if there were particular strands that needed cutting. She was mostly done though and took the knife from between her teeth. "Just a couple more, wee pup, then you'll be free again." And so, she set right about to finishing off the rest of the netting. With a few snaps, the last of the tangle was removed and folded up next to her. "There you go."

Niall was free! He stayed and nuzzled Iona for a moment before bounding over to Aoife and butting her gently with his horn. "They helped, they did!" he said excitedly. "I never thought humans would help us, but they have. Maybe you can trust him, too. I--" he fell silent, and instead returned to Iona's side.

He butted her with his horn gently. "I think we could stay with them, Aoife," he continued, nuzzling the girl who'd saved him. "I think they'd keep us safe. We don't have to run. Not from these humans. They saved me."

He had nothing to give them in his graditude. Maybe friendship would be enough?

Aoife gave a little hoot of jubilation. Her brother was free and not hurt! Hurray! She returned the headbutt. "They did! They did and they haven't tried anything bad against us. She cut you free and he helped keep me calm. I think so maybe..." She said looking back toward Dugan who was now sitting on the sand with his knees brought up and and arms resting folded on his knees.

Iona watched the reunion with a warm, pleased grin. "Aww, they're so happy to be together again." When the once trapped seel turned and returned to her side, the woman's brows rose slightly. "What's this?" The nuzzling brought her to smile again. "Heh heh. You're most welcome, pup. It was my pleasure."

Aoife made her way back to Dugan's side, giving his hand a little lick. "I think so, Niall. They seem like really good people. They're not demanding anything of us. They did this out of the goodness in their hearts." She rubbed her muzzle against his forearm.

It was Dugan's turn to raise his brows, a smile creeping on to his face also. He looked across the short distance to his lovely date. "It seems they've taken a shine to us, my dear." He scratched under the little seel's chin.

Iona chuckled and patted the seel's shoulders. "It does seem so. Think we've got ourselves a couple of new friends?"

"We may well have. Are you two going to stick with us now? We won't mind if you do."
Niall agreed with his sibling silently, continuing to butt and nuzzle at Iona. He didn't want to leave her side. She'd saved him! She had, she really had. "Seel? Seel seel!" Would she keep him? She wouldn't make him go with Dugan, would she?

"They are good people," he said, looking to Aoife. "I didn't think good people existed, but they do. I like these people. ...I think we should keep them, Aoife. But how do we tell them we want to keep them?"

Humans were so very strange, with their language.

"I agree," Aoife chimed. "They're good people and we ought to keep them. They can be our people." She paused as she pondered this. Humans had their own weird language thing going on. Hm. "If they're trainers, they'd probably have those balls on them, right? If we find 'em, they might get the hint? Or we can just flop onto them and look like we're not going anywhere. They might get the hint then too. Or we can do both maybe?"

Giving a light laugh, Iona angled her head to take in the young seel. "You're a happy camper now, aren't you?"

Aoife made her way around Dugan, bumping and rubbing against him. "See-see-se-seel!" Hm. "I think I'll try it, Niall." Hmm. If he was a trainer, he'd have those ball things somewhere. Ah, there were some on his belt. Without much of a pause, the seel plucked one from his belt and made her way around to his other side before giving a wiggle and heaving herself across the human's lap, essentially belly side up. "Seeeh." She chimed, holding the minimized pokeball in her mouth which muffled her slightly. Her antics caused Dugan to give a big belly laugh.

"He-hey, you silly thing. What are you doing with that? Do you want to be my poke-friend? Huh? Wanna come with me and be a partner of mine?" Dugan reached up and claimed the pokeball from the seel's mouth. The ball she happened to grab was an empty one so he went ahead and enlarged the ball and held it up to her.

Without much delay at all, Aoife gave the button-y looking thing a bump from her horn and in she went.

Niall watched as his sibling diappeared within the pokeball, before pointedly studying Iona. He circled her carefully, hoping to catch a glance of the telltale red and white ball--ah! She had a belt too, just like Dugan did! He took one with his teeth. "Seel, seel!" his voice was muffled from the ball, but he hoped his message had gotten across. One could never tell with humans. "Seel?" He dropped the pokeball in front of her.

He pushed it towards her with his horn. "Seel?" he asked hopefully, tilting his head. He couldn't let Aoife go without him!

Iona watched the seel make the round about her, letting him investigate. She chuckled and angled her head when he returned about around her to drop the pokeball down in front of her. "I see what you're saying, pup. I get you." The woman picked up the dropped ball, expanded it, and held it up at Niall's level. "Do what you gotta do, champ."

Niall struck the button with his horn, and when it opened, entered it willingly. He had a feeling they would be with these humans for many years to come. Perhaps forever.

Completed Star Finding RP

Things were good for the Seel. When they had initially joined the company of Dugan and Iona, the two trainers had only been dating. While they did their best to be accommodating to the sibling seel, sometimes they didn’t or couldn’t be together. Fortunately, for possibly everyone involved, the two decided to move in together. Without having to go back and forth and still being in close proximity to the sea, life for Niall and Aoife had improved considerably.

The weather was clear and the afternoon sun had just been calling trainer and pokemon out to enjoy the day. Dugan and Iona were sitting out reading, talking, and watching their pokemon companions having fun themselves. While up in the dunes amid the beach grass was always a fun place to frolic, the warmth of the sun simply made playing nearer to the water impossible to resist. “Niall,” Aoife chimed, “Let’s try to find some pretty shells! Or chase fishes! What do you wanna do?”

"Let's find shells for them!" Niall responded eagerly, gazing at the sand. He had made his way to the water's edge and was studying his surroundings carefully. "I haven't seen any," he complained. "Do you?"

He wondered what his trainer was doing. Why wasn't she playing in the water? That's what he felt she should be doing. It was a nice day to play! "Let's swim after," he invited his sibling. "Maybe they'll join us."

"Yes! I bet they’ll put them up on a shelf or in a nice bowl or something.” The prospect delighted Aoife. Using her flippers to scrape some sand away, the seel gave a thoughtful hum. “I haven’t seen many,” she admitted. “Little ones, mostly. Maybe they’re buried or we’d have more luck in the water itself? Hm. There aren’t any tide pools close by. There may be some in those, but they’re farther off. We might find driftwood if we poke around in the sand enough. Ooh! Or sand dollars!” Any number of finds would be exciting, expect perhaps a crabby, well, Krabby.

Niall’s pause to look over towards their trainers prompted Aoife to do the same. Huh. Was Dugan wanting to stay dry or something today? It was early yet or maybe they were having to wait off lunch that they had eaten a little while earlier. Hopefully they’d both join them a little later after Dugan and Iona digested their lunches some more. Aoife smiled. “Yeah, we can all swim together. It’ll be great.” Returning her attention to the task at hand, she poked about on and in the sand. “How many should we look for, you think? Should we see about checking out the tidal pools?”

"Let's check the tide pools!" Niall agreed at once, hurrying over to the closest one. The seel gave a trill of excitement before dipping his head into the tide pool. He raised his head. "I found one!" he informed his sibling excitedly, picking a sanddollar out of the sand with his mouth. He made his way back over to her. "Look, look!" he said, but his voice was muffled due to the object in his mouth. "I found one, I found one! See? Do you think they'll like it?"

Yuck. Sand. But it'd be worth it, if Iona liked it, right?

"Now you find one!"

When her twin first spoke, she didn’t appear to be listening too terribly close. Her attention was more focused on ridding her tongue of the gritty particles of sand. A few moments of spluttering and spitting passed before Aoife snapped to attention. “Wha? Huh?” She glanced around before focusing in on the area her sibling was homing in on. Oh! Huh. What was that? “Yeah, you’re right. It’s…different.” She agreed as she followed to investigate the find. “Weird. It definitely seems outta place, doesn’t it?” The seel give it a little sniff, angling her head this way and that to take in the little curiosity at different view points. It was rather pretty.

Casting a glance to Niall before returning her dark gaze upon the object of interest, she angled her head again. “It’d look nice in the house, I think. We can collect it and show Iona and Dugan when we get back down to their part of the beach. Maybe they’ll know what it is.” Shifting her weight onto her side, Aoife reached out a flipped to draw the shiny possibly metal looking thing closer. Before she could move it anywhere, the pretty, shiny thing seemed to vanish at her touch. She drew back her flipper in confused quiet. What in the world? Aoife seemed to pause, blinking drowsily.

“Oh…Niall…It’s the,” She paused to yawn. “darnedest thing. I’m so s’eepy.” She finished with another yawn, her dark brown eyes fluttered heavily, threatening to close. The seel sighed, laying her head down on the sand, drifting off to an easy and very, very sound sleep.

Niall panicked almost at once. The shiny thing had disappeared! And Aoife--Aoife was asleep! It was early afternoon and not nearly time for their after-adventuring nap. He butted her gently with his horn. "Aoife, this isn't funny," he said. "Wake up. You're faking. They'll worry. We're supposed to find--" he paused, noticing another of those shiny things. He went over to it, sniffing it carefully before taking it into his mouth.
He wavered for a moment, settling his head down onto the sand. The star burst into dust just as the seel fell asleep.

Reaction to Growth RP - With Niall, Dugan, and Iona

The sun had almost completely set when the two trainers went looking for their playful pokemon, figuring they wandered a bit in their play. It had been the oddest thing, finding Aoife and Niall passed out off a ways down the beach. Dugan and Iona didn’t know what to make of it really, but the couple just figured maybe their seel twins had tuckered themselves out playing and doing their own thing to come back. So, after having carried them back to the house, Dugan had laid the two down on a nest of blankets on the floor. He and Iona swept up whatever sand that got tracked into the house and then went about making dinner. The trainers had a quiet dinner out on the deck and chatted a while before putting their dishes in the sink. Niall and Aoife hadn’t stirred to come investigate dinner, so they let them sleep. Perhaps their game had been chase or some similarly rigorous game. They were young still. They needed their rest. And so, the two retired for the night. They would just have to deal with two hungry seel in the morning.

Their rest had been sound, unaware of what the twins had come across in the detritus and sand of the beach and of what that meant for them. Iona was normally the early riser, but Dugan stirred first this morning. Slipping on his robe, he slipped into the hallway and headed towards the kitchen with an easy, drowsy sort of smile on his face. He’d get the coffee going, maybe poke about in the fridge for something to start cooking. Dugan paused mid-step about halfway out of the living area on his way to the kitchen and dining area. As usual he had been giving casual glances about to make sure everything was still in its place and as it was supposed to be. But something had changed. Shuffling back a few steps, Dugan’s jaw just about dropped off of his face. What in blue blazes was going on?! Running back to his and Iona’s room, but not before banging his knee into a side table, he gently shook her. “Iona, get up. You need to come see this. It’s…I…I don’t know what to think. Come see. Please. Something with Niall and Aoife…”

Huh. He didn’t sound like he was joking. Hopping up out of bed, she pulled her own robe on and followed him out into the living room where he ushered her towards where he had placed the two sleeping pokemon the night before. There, all curled up on the nest of blankets, were two children! Not just any old children. These two children had an almost elven appearance with pointed ears, but with white skin and hair and a single horn rising from the center of their foreheads, both entirely naked. Iona opened and closed her mouth several times before just pausing with her head angled into one of her hands, unable to find the words. She looked from them to Dugan who appeared as baffled as she. Drawing closer to the two nesting children, Iona kneeled down next to them with Dugan standing on the opposite side. “Niall? Aoife? Is that-…Can you hear me?” She reached down and gave the little boy’s shoulder a gentle shake. “Wake up for me, Niall?”

Dugan crouched down, half kneeling and brushed the white hair away from the sleeping little girl’s face. “Aoife? Open your eyes for me, okay?” Both trainers were legitimately worried and confused in just about equal measure. There had to be SOME answer for this. Pokemon didn’t just turn into children out of the blue.

Niall opened his eyes, glancing at Iona questioningly. He felt a strange chill about him, and gave a shiver. He was used to the warm fur he'd had as a seel. He stared at her, before slowly sitting up and giving her an affectionate headbutt. He stretched, yawning. "What's going on?" he asked, glancing at Aoife questioningly. He froze, and recovering, rose a hand to his mouth. What was going on? He could speak--he could--that wasn't his voice! And this! This wasn't his flipper--and what had happened to Aoife?!

His eyes flew open wide, and he immediately moved to attach himself to Iona. He gave another shiver, but this time it wasn't from the cold. He was afraid. He wasn't sure how to react to this--what had happened to them? He couldn't remember eating anything strange, or doing anything particularly different. He gave a sniffle. What had his trainer done to him? Had Iona done this? Why would she? Hadn't she--didn't she--he'd thought she was his friend!
No, it couldn't have been Iona. He rose his dark eyes to Iona's and saw the same confusion there as he himself was facing. It must have been--Dugan. Dugan must have done this! He must have!

Iona gave a soft relieved sigh at seeing Niall stir and wake, not minding the child’s headbutt, but his obvious fear and confusion was heartbreaking. The poor dear was so scared.

Aoife shifted herself, feeling the brush of Dugan’s hand over her head and hearing both his voice and the voice of her brother. She pushed herself up into a sitting position and gave a big yawn, without thinking rubbing her face to further dispel her sleepiness. Aoife jumped visibly, staring down at her hands and beyond to her feet. Her feet! She touched her face, her brows furrowing and looked to her brother. He had it too! “Are we sick?! Did we catch something?” Whoa! Wait! They were talking! Genuinely talking! A distressed whimper rose up from the girl as she clung to Dugan’s robe sleeve, pulling herself close. What was going on?! She shivered too. She was scared and cold. Her pretty, thick white fur was gone too!

Iona stroked the frightened boy’s hair as he clung to her. She slipped out of her robe which was printed with little stars and wrapped it around Niall, once again holding him close. The woman was completely gobsmacked that the twins were more or less human looking and were talking! She gave a soft sigh when he looked up to her, doubtless seeking an explanation, and drew him into a hug.

Dugan, too, slipped out of his robe and wrapped it around the naked seel girl, shifting to sit on the floor to allow her to curl up in his lap, pressed against his chest. Aoife sniffled and looked up to him before looking over to her brother and Iona. What caused this? She didn’t believe it to be either Dugan or Iona. They loved them and were their friends! Aoife had no clue what might cause this transformation. She curled her knees as tightly to her chest as she could, drawing Dugan’s thick robe up about her pointed ears, practically getting lost in the adult robe save for a pitifully distressed face peeking out from within it. “What’s happened to us?” She asked, her voice catching slightly as her chin trembled.

Dugan gave her a squeeze, rubbing her back softly. “Aoife, honey, I don’t know. We’ll figure out what’s happened to you and Niall, okay?” He shifted his gaze between the two kids before affixing his attention to Iona.
She wrapped her robe about Niall, tucking it around him. “I’m sure there are answers to be had. Are either of you hurting at all? Do you remember anything out of the ordinary from last night or yesterday? Anything at all?”

"What happened to us?" Niall asked, scooting away from Dugan and positioning himself closer to Iona. His lips and chin trembled as he attempted to keep tears from falling onto his cheeks. "I'm not hurting," he answered Iona's question with a shake of his head. "No... Where's our stars?" he asked, frowning as he looked for the stars they'd found for Iona the previous evening. "We were looking for presents for you last night," he said. "Then we got sleepy when we found them... I don't remember any more." The boy looked troubled. He wrapped his arms around Iona.

"What are you going to do with us now?" he asked, dreading the answer. "Get rid of us?"

Iona frowned slightly at Niall scooting further away from Dugan, like whatever had happened was his fault. She didn’t fuss though. He was just a scared boy. Neither he nor his sister knew what was going on. She and Dugan knew just as little. She held the seel boy close and rocked him, softly shushing him in the hope of keeping those threatening tears from falling. The trainer rests her cheek on the top of his head. His answer of no pain and the shaking of Aoife’s head was some small relief. Niall’s mentioning of stars confused her. “Stars? As in starfish or star, like these?” She asked pointing to the pattern on her robe.

Aoife let Dugan’s robe fall off of the back of her head to form a fluffy ruff about her neck. She frowned as she tried to think of what happened to their stars. “Not starfish, no. They were like those, only silver.” She nodded towards Iona’s robe. “As soon as we found them and touched them, we got really tired and fell asleep. I don’t remember anything else from yesterday.”

Dugan seemed to be listening with rapt attention, a thoughtful frown furrowing his brows. “Iona and I didn’t see any stars when we found you two sleeping. When I picked you both up and carried you here, there wasn’t anything hidden underneath you and you didn’t drop anything on the way back, but…silver stars sound…familiar somehow. I think I might have heard something. Something along the lines of there being these special stars and that if a pokemon finds and touches them, they change. It’s not an evolution or anything, but just changes them somehow. I guess they become more human…Does that make any sense?”

Niall nodded in agreement with Aoife's words. "That's what happened," he said. "We were going to bring them to you. It was a surprise." He had wanted to bring that shining star to Iona, and to hear that she hadn't been able to even see it, distressed him further. He clung to Iona tightly. "It disappeared, then?" he asked, frowning. "I wanted to bring it to you so you can put it on the shelf with your shells..."

He glanced at Dugan, frowning. His eyes narrowed. "You knew about this?" he demanded. "You knew, and you didn't say anything?" Dugan had done this. He'd known it all along. "What are you going to do with us now that we've changed?" he demanded, crossing his arms and pulling away from Iona. What if she decided to study him? Or that she didn't want him? What was going to happen to them now?

Huh. Maybe that’s what happened to the twins. It was at least something to explain what happened. Iona offered Niall a bit of a smile. “Well, that's sweet, Niall, Aoife. It doesn’t matter that they disappeared though. I’m just glad that you’re okay. There are other treasures to be found out there, or you two could just make us things now. You’ve got hands now so you can make crafts and we can show you how to cook and the like.” Iona paused when Niall’s attention and suspicion openly shifted to Dugan.

Dugan straightened his posture, frowning himself. “I just figured that was a silly story I heard, a rumor. I didn’t think it held water. I had no idea that there would be stars around here.” The man shook his head and looked down to Aoife who was looking up at him from his lap. “We’re not going to get rid of you, if that what you’re think. You are still our Aoife and Niall.”

Iona shook her head. “We love you both very much. Why in the world would we get rid of you?” She combed her fingers through Niall’s hair. “You’re our seels and we wouldn’t trade you for anything in the world. There isn’t any other Niall or Aoife out there. Don’t you worry about such things, okay?”
Aoife wiped her eyes and smiled at Iona before looking up at Dugan, rapping her arms around his neck in a tight hug. “Good. I don’t want to go anywhere. I like it here with you and Iona and Niall.”

"I suppose," Niall said, nodding at Iona's words. He didn't like that they had lost the stars, but since Iona didn't seem upset by the lose of them, he supposed it was alright. "We can always find something better," he said, glancing at Aoife. There were many things to find out there, and if they could still dive under water for gifts, he figured they would find enough to fill three shelves.

"...You're not?" the seel turned boy stared at Dugan, his expression changing rapidly; from disbelief to relief, to sadness. He wished he'd known. He wished he'd been able to warn Aoife before it'd happened. "You're going to keep us even now?" he asked, looking back to Iona. He reattached himself to Iona.
"But what'll happen now?" he asked. "We're not pokemon anymore... what are we to you?"

Iona smiled and gave Niall a hug. “That’s what I like to hear. I think you’ll like cooking, or at least helping Dugan and me when we cook. I have no doubt in my mind that you two will be able to find or make something even better than those stars. And it’ll be all the more special because you will have created whatever you make yourselves.”

Aoife loosened her hold on Dugan to look towards her brother and his trainer. She smiled brightly and nodded. “Yeah! That’ll be fun! I bet we could come up with something really, really nice.” She giggles softly to herself. “I’d like to learn how to cook, I think. It looks fun.” She added somewhat more quietly.
Dugan chuckled and shook his head. “Of course we’re not going to get rid of you. You and your sister have firmly cemented a place in our hearts and in our lives. We don’t want either of you to go anywhere, so we are absolutely going to be keeping both of you.”

Iona shifted Niall into her lap when he reattached himself to her. “Now? Well, we probably ought to get you two into some clothes now that you aren’t covered in fur, huh? And then I think a good breakfast will be in order. As for what you are now, well…Your kids now, so I think it’s fair to say that you are our kids now. Isn’t that right, Dugan?”

Dugan nodded vehemently, smiling quite brightly. Obviously the idea of having kids to share with Iona pleased him, even if said children had been pokemon just yesterday. “Quite right! You can be our kids. Mine and Iona’s son and daughter.” He held Aoife snugly as she rocked back and stood. And I think the first order of business should be feeding and clothing you.”

"Kids now?" Niall repeated, tilting his head slightly. Didn't kids call their trainers something different? He'd seen kids and their trainers on the beach. "Son and daughter?" he echoed. The concept didn't seem to sink in properly, for a long moment. "What do we call you, then?" he asked.
"I'm cold," he complained, at last, looking up at Iona. He couldn't remember being cold before. He was a water / ice type, after all. The thick fur he'd always had before had protected him from the elements. "Clothes?" he echoed. Everything was so new. So different.

Iona rose also, shifting Niall so that he sat on her hip. She smiled, nodding in kind. “Yes, your our son and daughter. We’re your parents now.” She tittered lightly at his following question. “You can call us mom and dad, if you’d like, or mama and papa, or mommy and daddy. Whatever you feel most comfortable calling us.”

Aoife blinked at the options posed to them, bringing a hand up to touch her cheek as she mulled over the possible choices. Wow, daughters and sons sure had a lot of options what to call their trainers, er, parents. She tried them out a few times. “Do we have to pick just one?” She asked with a small, confused frown.

Shaking his head, Dugan answered her. “Not at all, you can mix and match them if you so choose to.”

The seel girl tipped head back as she considered the possibilities. “Sooo…I could call you daddy and her mama?”

“If that’s what you want to do, by all means.” He gave her a hug which got him one in return.

“Okay! I love you, daddy.” She loosed her hug and turned to face Iona, reaching an arm as she leaned out a bit from Dugan, wrapping her arm around her shoulders as best she could. “And I love you too, mama.” Aoife straightened back up again, shivering slightly as Dugan’s warm robe had fallen away from her shoulders when she had leaned out to hug Iona. “I don’t think I’ve ever been chilly before.”

Iona smiled warmly at the hug and the moniker given to her, as warmly as she ever had when given a gift from them. “Thank you, honey.” She snuggled the cold Niall close to her. “Yep, we ought to get you two some clothes. Clothes are what we wear to cover ourselves. See, people don't have warm fur to cover them, so clothes are the next best thing. We probably don’t have any children’s clothes lying around the house, but you can borrow some old clothing of Dugan and me. It’ll be something to cover you both up until we get you something in your sizes.”

Children apparently called their trainers by strange names. He would have to adjust to that, too. "Momma?" Niall asked, leaning against Iona. "Alright. You'll be Momma!" He glanced at Dugan, almost hesitantly. "I'm sorry I blamed you," he said. "It isn't your fault we changed. I was just--" Frightened. He still was, but less so with how Iona was taking it. They weren't going to be thrown out! Iona and Dugan still wanted them, even though they'd changed!

He hesitated for a long moment. "Momma, do we still have to go in our pokeballs?" he asked. He wasn't sure they'd fit. "You'll help us find something nice?" he asked. "Something warm?"

Dugan offered a small, understanding smile to Niall and ruffled his hair a bit. “It’s okay. People can say and do things they don’t really mean if they’re scared. So long as you don’t let fear completely change who you are, everything will be okay.” He bobbed Aoife on his hip, getting a bit of a giggle out of her. “Let’s see what we can drum up for you two. We can layer you up until you get a bit more used to not having a nice insulating coat of fur to help keep you warm.” With that, he started heading down the hall, turning into their bedroom and setting Aoife down on the bed.

Iona nuzzled her new son. “No, honey. I don’t even know if they’d work on you like this. Nope. You’ll just have to stay out here with us. Dugan and I will have to get you and your sister a room set up. And of course we’ll find you something nice. You could help us look if you’d like to.” She followed Dugan into their room and set him down next to his sister. Dragging a box out of the closet, she popped it open and began rummaging through for things to offer the kids.

Dugan scooted his box out into the open as well. “After we get you into some clothes, we can fix you something nice and warm to help heat you through.”

Niall watched Iona as she rummaged through the box, blinking with wide, black eyes. Was this where they got new clothes? He sent Aoife a puzzled expression. He shrugged. He wasn't sure why trainers couldn't have a nice, think coat like he'd had before. It'd certainly make things easier.
He went over to Dugan and wrapped his arms around him. "Daddy? I love you."

While the cool weather never really bothered her, the Seel lass had opted to remain inside. Not because she had any sort of fight or anything with her brother, not at all. She, in fact, had company over! Her wonderful Celebi friend Brenny was over! Sitting around the coffee table in the living room, a game of Story Cubes spread out table top, Aoife looked up from the game with raised eyebrows at her brother's entry. It hadn't seemed like he had been out all that long, but perhaps he got bored playing by himself. However, it seemed like something was bothering him. Niall wasn't saying anything but sort of just hovering around looking grumpy.

Lightly drumming her fingertips on the bottom of the plastic cup that she and Brenny were using for shaking up the story cubes, Aoife hummed thoughtfully to herself, glancing between the scattered nine dice they were using for this round and her brother. She lowered her voice to something just above a whisper. "Brenny, I think something is bothering Niall."

Brenny turned to look at Niall, in the telltale way so the other boy knew they were talking about him. Oops. "I think something is," he said, looking back to Aoife. Niall was hovering like a dark cloud of negativity. Huh. That was strange, Niall always seemed so happy, at least when his sister was around. He glanced around for Iona or Dugan, to explain the situation. "Maybe he's in trouble and can't play with us," he said. "He must be really upset about it..."

Niall crossed his arms. "I'm not in trouble," he said. Stupid Brenny, stealing his sister. It wasn't fair. He'd wanted to build a snowman with her. Why couldn't mom send him away?

Brenny's obvious swivel to look at her brother had Aoife waving her hands quickly in front of her in a "No, no, no!" manner. She hid her face briefly in her hands before folding them on the coffee table. "Well, no...I don't think so," She agreed with her brother. If he was in trouble, their parents wouldn't just tell him that he wasn't allowed to play with them. They'd send him to his room or something.

"Niall, why don't you join us? We're playing Story Cubes! You know we've gotten a couple of new expansions recently so we're breaking them in! It's fun." He seemed so grumpy. Aoife didn't like seeing her brother upset and she frowned. "Is something the matter?"

"I don't want to play with him," Niall explained, frowning. He uncrossed his arms, crossing the room to sit between the two. "I don't like him looking at you like that," he added, glaring at Brenny. "Stay away from my sister."

Brenny was baffled. He stared at Niall, and moved away slightly. "Er. Okay...?" he said, making a face. Niall was acting strangely. They hadn't always gotten along, but they tended to nowdays...

Sitting back a bit, the Seel lass huffed a sigh, folding her arms at her waist. "Looking at me like what, Niall? We're just playing. I don't understand why you're mad at Brenny." Aoife didn't much care for this vein of conversation. She, of course, loved her twin, but she was very fond of the time spent with the Celebi boy too! Perhaps if she turned the conversation elsewhere? Frowning, she chewed on her lower lip. "Niall...you came in with a sorta funny look on your face. No snowman luck out there?" She fiddled with one of the unused die that they had scattered around the edges of the tables, making a little stack of extra dice as she spoke.

Niall sighed. If they didn't know what was going on, maybe it was still okay. "Nothing... Nevermind. Can I play?" He glanced at Brenny, and gave him an awkward smile. "I'm sorry for being mean, Brenny." He hesitated at Aoife's question, looking away from her. "Nah, no luck. The snow turned all gritty from the sand." He didn't want to admit having been frightened. Not to his sister.

"Well sure!," Aoife enthused. We can shake up some new dice for a whole other story! You know we have the base, but Mom and Dad just got some new mixing dice sets for us the other day! We now have Prehistoria with dinosaurs and ancient critters and things, Enchanted with fairy tale creatures and objects, and an additional set proper called Voyages for awesome adventures and epic tale telling!" Her brother's apology to Brenny gained him a thankful, happy smile from his sister. Good! She wanted them to get along. Flipping the cup right side up, she looked between the two boys. "Shall we use a little bit of everything? Some from the basic set, some from Voyages, and some from the mixes or more from one set or the other? We gotta pick nine." The girl frowned lightly, a faint furrow creasing her brow, at hearing of her brother's misfortune out on the beach. "I'm sorry to hear that, Niall. Maybe later or tomorrow we can ask Mom and Dad to take us to the park so we can play in the snow and not have to worry about sandy snow." Something was still bothering him. He had paused before answering her question, and he didn't look at her when he answer. "We can make snowmen proper there."

Niall was glad to be accepted into the group, even if it was partially on false pretenses. He wanted to keep them apart as long as possible: and keep as far away from what had frightened him, until Iona was around to dispel it. "I think we should use a few from each, yeah. A princess could go on a voyage or something!" He noticed Aoife looking at him, and hesitated. He took her hand, giving it a squeeze. He would tell her later about the burst of color. "Yeah. I'd like to go to the park."

Brenny smiled. He wad glad everyone was getting along again. "You can go first," he offered.

"Sounds good to me!" Aoife nodded, pleased, and began randomly selecting dice from the various sets and mixes before dropping them down into the bottom of the cup. The squeeze to her hand eased a little of her worry. Returning his squeeze, she bobbed her head. "We can ask them when they come around. I'm sure they wouldn't mind. I mean, it doesn't snow often on the beach, but when it does it is generally for only a short while and it isn't a 'good' snow," she said, finger quoting 'good' for emphasis. "I'm sure they'd understand." The offer to go first sat well with her, so she picked up the cup, clapping a hand over the top to prevent dice from flying out and escaping, and gave it a really good shake before upending it to let the dice fall where they may. When the story cubes came to a stop, Aoife leaned forward again to see what she had to work with.

"Let's see," She drawled out. "A bee, a neat tent, a map, a tiara, a forest, a fairy, a tower, a clock, and a magnifying glass. Hmmm. Let's see." The girl pondered briefly on the direction her story would take and then she began, tapping her index finger on each die when she came to refer to it in her story. "Once upon a time, in a forest there lived a bumblebee. It was a good little bee, though the bee had a secret! It hadn't always been bee! It had been a young noble lady! Her father had taken the help of a fairy for granted and to punish him for this, the fairy turned his beloved daughter into a busy, little bee. In fear and confusion, the once noble girl flew out and away from the tower in which she slept, leaving her father holding only her tiara that had fallen from her head as she shrank and changed. day, the noble bee came across a boy tending his family's hives on their homestead hidden away in this forest. He noticed the lone bee hanging back and held out his hand for the bee to perch on so that it could rest its wings. Flying in the noble bee landed on his finger, wiggling her antennas when he gently petted her fuzzy back. He seemed nice. Maybe he'd be kind of heart and brave enough in spirit that he'd be able to understand. She had tried to tell others of her plight, which had nearly gotten her squished in the past! Or those she told simply saw her as a bee doing its wiggle dances. Still, she had to try! Time was running out! She didn't know what her father was doing about her plight, but she couldn't leave it all to chance.

"Oh, please, sir," The bee pleaded. "Can you understand me? I need your help. I need to find a magic woman traveling in a caravan. A man in the nearby market has a map that shows the path that the caravan always sticks to. Time is running out for me! I have a week left before I'm stuck a bee forever! I want to be a girl again. Please understand me, please!" She waited as she searched the boy's face with her multifaceted eyes. The boy blinked, astonished. He actually heard the bee talk! Or was it the bee girl talk? He had never met a talking bee before. Though she said she used to be a girl.

"Well, sure, I guess! I will help you. I mean, there isn't much you can do all by yourself. I've finished with the hives for the day so that was the last of my chores for the day. I'll take you to the market and we can see if we can find this map." Raising his hand so she could perch upon his shoulder, he set off to the market once she found a place she was comfortable with. He talked to and with her, listening to her story in full on the way. Once they arrived they found the man selling the map, and they learned that it was a magic map! There was a mark on the map that moved around wherever the caravan was. It took some haggling but the boy got the map for a decent price. Luck was on their side for the caravan that this magic woman was working, living, or just traveling with was actually not that far off. Racing back to his family's farm, he gently tucked the noble bee into his front pocket, hopped onto his father's horse and raced off to meet up where the mark was on the map. They raced and raced and finally saw and heard the sights and sounds of the trade caravan. In the far back of the settling nomads, a small but pretty tent had already been erected. A spire rose from the center of the tent and wind chimes tinkled softly from the support posts. The noble bee emerged and flew into the tent, frantic and excited at the prospect of returned to her normal self again. The boy waited outside. From within the tent there came muffled sounds of talking, music, and then suddenly lights and a rush of wind! The boy staggered, shielding his eyes from the bright light.

When he lowered his arms, out stepped the bee girl, a beautiful noble girl once more, sweet bee pollen still dusting her hair and lashes. Her eyes welled with tears, "I'm me again. I'm me! Thank you so much for your help! Thank you!" She hugged the boy. "You've done so much for me already, but could you do me one more favor and help get me home. You'll be rewarded for your kindness, sir, I swear it!"

"Well, I've gotten you this far,' The boy said. "It wouldn't be right of me not to see you all the way home." They both mounted the boy's horse and rode back to the girl's family's castle . And rewarded the boy was. The noble girl's father said that the boy could have anything he wished for. And what was his wish, you might ask? Well, his wish was simple. To marry the girl as sweet as bee pollen, if she would have him. The two went on to become the greatest of friends and eventually marry, and they lived happily ever after. The End!"

Aoife nodded at the conclusion of her story, smiling, quite happy with how it turned out. "I think I did okay. Didn't I, you guys?"
