I hope you're not intending To be so condescending It's as much as I can take And you're so independent You just refuse to bend So I keep bending 'till I break. "Alrighty then. I'll be back in a few minutes so you just rest in here," Lurtz almost seemed to hum in a smooth, low rumble. He then lightly pat Dragon on top of the head before padding softly out of the room and into the kitchen. After readjusting his hairclip's hold on his hair, he washed his hands in the sink. He then started flipping through a large red cookbook filled with handwritten recipes of various different origins and homemade recipes until he found what he was looking for. He followed that action with pulling out various ingredients from the pantry and icebox.
Even though he really didn't need the cookbooks much less the fridge and pantry, he'd learned how to cook due to being forced to pretend to be human in the past. He might've also found making food from scratch pretty enjoyable although he'd never say it aloud. While the cookbook stated it'd take over a few hours to complete his recipe, he intended to use what magic he knew how to use to speed up the process his homemade version of a strawberry milkshake, all the way down to a homemade version of strawberry ice cream, would take to a few minutes. As some sugar, flour, salt, milk and eggs blended thoroughly together started to heat up in a pan on the stove, Lurtz was using his thoroughly washed hands to mash the even more thoroughly washed fresh strawberries in a bowl with a little bit of lemon juice and sugar added to that. Once that was done, he washed his hands clean again and moved the pan of what was part of the ice cream into the fridge to cool down.
After a couple minutes in the fridge, Lurtz removed the custard from the fridge again with it completely cooled down as if it'd been there for about a day. He then mixed the custard, the strawberry mixture, a bit of vanilla extract and a little bit of heavy whipping cream together without really glancing back at the instructions in the cookbook. Using a bit of ice, wind and gravitational magic, he quickly turned the mixed together ingredients into an ice cream. He then hulled several extra strawberries, sliced them, sprinkled some sugar over them, mixed in some vanilla extract, threw it in the fridge for a second or two before removing it again and scraped everything into a blender with a bit of milk just to blend it thoroughly. After briefly cracking his neck, he added in a small old timey looking jar of a powder to which he didn't really have labels on his spice jars so only he knew what it was. Then the homemade ice cream was added into the blender and everything blended together as thoroughly as was Lurtz's nature.
Sure it'd have been easier just using the store bought ice cream instead of going straight out homemade, but he didn't really go with the pre-made foods so his apartment was devoid of any pre-made foods. Homemade food simply tasted better than pre-made food. The way Lurtz was able to move about in the kitchen without seeming to think about anything just seemed to make everything in the kitchen flow together. Within about twenty minutes, he'd finished making the homemade strawberry milkshake, added a straw and gave it a whipped topping. Magic was a beautiful thing and now he just hoped that this milkshake had turned out correctly.
Padding back to the guest room, he lightly knocked on the door before stepping inside so as to make his presence known. "Here you are, Lord Dragon."

There was something about the sound of the blender and the other assortments of kitchenware being used that made Dragon so sleepy. It just had a rhythmic hum and a steady beat. So pretty... A knock at the door made Dragon jump. He blinked at the ceiling a few times before drowsiness settled back over his metallic silver eyes. Was he asleep? It felt like it had only been a few seconds. He slowly turned to see a very attractive looking milkshake presented to him by Lurtz. "Thanks." Dragon smiled tiredly and pushed himself up on the bed. The simple action took nearly all his strength. Did he really lose too much blood that he could hardly move? Resting his back against the wall, he reached out and took the glass. One hand shook the glass and threatened to drop all of its contents onto him, and with his other hand it grew more bearable. After fighting with the straw, Dragon finally managed to take a sip of the drink, and in that instance all exhaustion vanished from his face. "It's really good!" he commented and looked at Lurtz with wide, grass green eyes. "Have you made these before?"

I hope you're not intending To be so condescending It's as much as I can take And you're so independent You just refuse to bend So I keep bending 'till I break. After helping Dragon sit up, as he could tell that the other was struggling to do so, he let the other take up his milkshake. He kept his hand on it until Dragon seemed able to hold it on his own. When thanked for making the milkshake for the other male, he gave a flicker of a smile as his way of saying 'you're welcome'. Then came the statement, or more like an exclamation, of his milkshake tasting really good. That was a relief. Dragon's comment was then followed by the question of him having made it before.
"I haven't ever really made any of the iced desserts before, but I did learn to cook when my family had to pretend to be human. I just kept a recipe book of the many homemade recipes I've gathered over time from various different cultures as a precaution of vampire hunters. I found that foods made from scratch and are fresh usually taste a hundred times better than the pre-made foods," he responded while briefly glancing off to the side and then back to the other male. How Dragon couldn't find the beauty in his eyes changing color without any real pattern to it was beyond him. If they could switch eye without the dark elves using a magical spoon to scoop them out, he'd do so if the other consented to having eyes of the same icy blue coloration day-in to day-out. He should probably not mention that aloud.
These are my words That I've never said before I think I'm doing okay And this is the smile That I've never shown before Somebody shake me 'cause I I must be sleeping.

"It's very good." Dragon commented with that childish smile of his and sipped his milkshake again. He wasn't aware of how hungry he was. His stomach growled and greedily took his milkshake, the end factor resulting with a terrible brain freeze. The young man winced and cringed against the wall as his mind spun and froze from how painful it was to drink the drink too quickly. It took a few minutes for Dragon's mind to come clear again; he slowly lowered his hand and risked opening his eyes, which had become golden, and looked over to see Lurtz staring at him, almost transfixed by something. He shifted uncomfortable. "Wh-What's wrong?" he asked, mentally cursing himself for reverting back to his stuttering habit. "I-Is there something on my face?" As if to check himself, he gingerly placed his cold fingertips at the corner of his mouth and dabbed around it to feel for a crumb or a wisp of whip cream.

I was just thinking is all. Be careful on how quickly you drink that though, Lord Dragon. I've heard many say that brain freezes aren't all that fun and yet are very easy to get. And thank you very much for the compliment," Lurtz answered with a gentle smile. Smiling still seemed rather foreign to him so having Dragon capable of bringing one to his lips made him almost feel alive again. How did a black sheep, a perfectly defective guy such as himself, ever get lucky enough to meet as kind and gentle a guy as Dragon? He felt guilty the other had to meet someone like him, but wouldn't regret ever becoming friends with him. Dragon was just as lonely as him after all. "Perhaps once you're feeling up to it, I can get you to sing for me without any interruptions. I'd still like to hear you sing at least once whether it be good or bad."

Something came across Dragon's face at the mention of singing. "Oh..." he murmured, his soft tone confirming the apprehension on his face. "But... I-I'll never be a good singer like those people in class," he mumbled then lifted his dirt brown eyes from the bed sheet to Lurtz's face. "o-or you." He could still remember hearing everyone at the Vocals Class. Every single one of them sung amazingly, it was as if their voices were tinged with magic. As for him, he's never sung before, and maybe being interrupted every time he tried to in class was a sign.

After giving a soft laugh, Lurtz lightly ruffled Dragon's dark hair. "You don't know that. You'll never know how good you may be if you never try. As for several of those students, they were very much off-key or merely stuck on the idea of them being better than everyone else. And me, I was merely trying to inspire you to try singing... After having done as was directed of course," he responded as he moved his hands into his lap. He didn't want to keep treating the other like a child by ruffling his hair or patting him on top of the head, something he'd noticed he'd been doing lately. Tucking his pale blue hair behind his ear, a light smile remained in place on his face. He would have to get used to having Dragon make him smile because the boy didn't seem to want to let Lurtz remain the intimidating silent guy sitting in the corner by himself as he was used to doing. "As I said though, I can wait until you're feeling up to it."

A tiny giggle escaped the young man's mouth when he felt the hand against his dark brown hair. He smiled at Lurtz brightly as his eyes turned midnight blue with literal sparkles in them; starlight. "Umm... Would... Would you at least sing with me?" he asked and shyly looked down at his twiddling thumbs and a timid blush on his face.

"If you'd like me to, I will sing with you. I'd just need to know what song you'd like to sing," Lurtz nodded as his answer. Dragon was so shy and timid unlike him. Oh no. He was rather blunt about things, but the rules drilled into his head since he could remember made him not so open about it. At least to no one outside of his family's knowledge was he so closed off and obedient all the time. He had habits of going through all of the 'what ifs' within a matter of seconds and opting for the lesser of evils path. Those paths through life, however, could make him seem very cold, heartless and, much to his parents' dismay, highly disobedient. This usually ended up with one of his family members ending up intruding on his mind and finding a certain part of his brain that acted like a reset button that returned him to being obedient. "Again, only if you're feeling up to it."

Songs. What was something Dragon was aware of? As he went through the playlists in his mind, the young man's face begin to drop. He knew little to no songs... Suddenly feeling as thought Lurtz was growing impatient, he frantically searched through his mind for a song, yet came up empty-handed. He tried to remember the many songs he had heard so many students sing to themselves before, but as he said, they were singing it to themselves and therefore had little volume, so he could not make out the words. The only songs he could really remember clearly were - his face flushed - the ones from child shows. Barney's song... Dora the Explorer.... No! No, he absolutely, under no circumstance, could let Lurtz know how much he enjoyed watching those shows, or that he even did watch them! It was his secret to the grave! ...But they were the only songs he knew. Except... "Umm.... Let's sing that one you tried to teach me at the Vocals Class." Dragon insisted, the shy blush still displayed on his now rosy cheeks, which matched his scarlet eyes.

I hope you're not intending To be so condescending It's as much as I can take And you're so independent You just refuse to bend So I keep bending 'till I break. After giving a slight nod and lightly scratching his jawbone. There'd been several songs he'd sung in the classroom, but only one really stood out to him in trying to teach it to the other male. Of course it'd been interrupted by morons who thought either Dragon or Lurtz was the teacher and needed a good slap to knock the stupid out of them. When someone was working with another person in a corner of the room it was usually a private session. "You're Gonna Miss Me by Lulu and the Lampshades? Alright. And you feel up to doing this now? I don't want to push you into doing it right this very second if you don't feel up to it." His words were smooth and calming unlike how most people described him after a brief glance. Sure he looked rather feminine, but he also appeared very serious and intimidating. Lurtz wasn't sure as to why the other was blushing as it was just him and Dragon that would hear him, but he supposed it was that shyness he could see so clearly in the darker haired male. It was kinda cute.
Unfortunately, he'd prefer Dragon sleeping peacefully when his father showed up so he didn't have to be a part of the drama. He didn't like others having to meet his dad since his dad always made them feel like dirt and made him seem like a bad friend because he wasn't allowed to speak unless spoken to or his dad would cause a scene. There was no winning with him around.

"I-I'd like to sing it now." Dragon said with a small smile, back to the nervous habit of pressing the tips of his index fingers together. He reasoned that it would be best to get it over with, and in a place like this he felt assured that no one would scare him back into crying like a baby again. Just remembering how he cried in front of everyone brought a humiliated flush onto his face and forced his grass green gaze away from Lurtz.

Nodding slightly again, he gently ruffled the other male's hair and gave him a light smile. "Alright. Just let me know if you're feeling too tired to be doing this," Lurtz responded in that same soothing rumble very few had actually heard. He normally had a monotonous or tactical way of speaking so as not to let his relationships with others be known and give enemies an advantage against him via hostages. Unfortunately for him, the plastic cup routine wouldn't be involved this time in the singing so he had to get the mental tune playing in his head.
"Alright. So the first verse goes-" He paused briefly to lightly tap his lips with his fingers and inhale, a very uncomfortable task for any undead vampire who had no real need for their lungs anymore. Living vampires still breathed and still had a pulse unlike the undead vampires or anyone changed into a vampire. He quickly shoved the uncomfortable feeling of his lungs expanding to the back of his thought process altogether before allowing the rumble of his voice become rather soulful and pass his lips as it had in the classroom earlier. "I got my ticket for the long way 'round, two bottle whiskey for the way. And I sure would like some sweet company and I'm leaving tomorrow. What d'ya say? When I'm gone. When I'm gone. You're gonna miss me when I'm gone. You're gonna miss me by my hair. You're gonna miss me everywhere. And I know you're gonna miss me when I'm gone."

Dragon hadn't expected the song to start so soon, even if he had asked to do it now. His mouth became a squiggle for a second, but he swallowed his fears and readied his lungs. "I got my ticket..." He started off out of tune, but as he sang along with Lurtz his voice began to adapt and joined him. His voice, so frail from shyness and holding the light tint of innocence, was a soprano that could switch to alto if given the correct music, and though there were times when he missed a lyric, sang a wrong key, or couldn't breathe in time, he played as good as a shy mediocre boy could.

I hope you're not intending To be so condescending It's as much as I can take And you're so independent You just refuse to bend So I keep bending 'till I break. Inwardly taking in notes through the first verse of how the other could improve as he didn't know all the words, his breathing was slightly off and he still seemed unsure about the pitches much less singing aloud. Instead of making rude comments as most of the students who'd attended their class most likely would have, Lurtz lightly clapped his hands together as if saying that he'd done a good job. "That was pretty good, Lord Dragon. With a bit of practice and after hearing the song several times over for memorization of the lyrics, you could knock the socks off of even the best of singers. Thing is, if you ever have to sing in front of others, just close your eyes and tune out anything that isn't you. Other people's opinions don't matter. Sure, their thoughts can give you new light on things, but you have your own brain to think things through. Don't let others sway your decisions and never ever second guess yourself. Follow your gut instinct; what feels right to you," he stated encouragingly before slightly sliding into a bit of advice for the innocent younger male. Innocence was prone to a bit of naivety and that could lead to bad decisions. Bad decisions lead to death on a worst case scenario. Giving him some idea of the bad things reality came with was clearing up some of that naivety as a way to be sure that he could survive. Whether his father agreed or not, Lurtz would be sure to find and protect Dragon should catastrophe strike all manner of species. How he would do this along with protecting royal families wouldn't be an easy task, but it was capable of being done. Unfortunately for those who may be involved, his real demeanor would take over under survival instincts. Strategic plans with even the tiniest of details was his strength besides speed, physical strength and lacking fear of death let alone killing another person. He might not like feeding on blood, but taking someone down with a mere pen or pencil didn't bug him whatsoever.
These are my words That I've never said before I think I'm doing okay And this is the smile That I've never shown before Somebody shake me 'cause I I must be sleeping.
