"What makes you think I don't?" he purred cryptically, slinking past Nahm to leave the dorms, doing so as impressively as he could manage. It might have been convincing as far as swaggers went if his tail didn't slink out to curl around Nahm's wrist as he did so, stopping him dead in his tracks.
"Oh for Jack's sake. My apologies." he said, reaching out to pry it off.

"Ah, my mistake, I see," Nahm laughed. "I do appreciate the warning."
As his wrist was suddenly captured, he chuckled and petted the wilful appendage. "It likes me, how sweet~"

As Nahm petted Zar's tail his hand froze mid reach and he cut himself off mid sentence. It was as if for a moment everything about him just blipped, completely skipped a beat. It took him a few moments to shake it off and flustered, make a renewed effort to untangle it, finally hauling it to his chest where it sulkily twined around his own wrist.
"S..sorry. It's out of control sometimes." he gruffly strode ahead, trying to shake off the embarrassment.

Now there was a very interesting piece of information. Nahm caught up to walk next to Zar with a few long strides. "No offense taken," he replied blithely. "Tails, they have their own opinions, don't they."

Zar cleared his throat. "Well. Mine does anyway. For whatever reason. It is an inconvenience. It does not reflect anything I condone though, just by the way." That was a lie, he had always suspected the damn thing tapped straight into his subconscious thoughts. Which was worrying given the fact it had just tried to grab Nahm. He dug his claws in just a bit and didn't let it go.
"How far?" he asked, trying to change the topic.

"I keep mine under my robes so it doesn't get too grabby or sting anyone I didn't fully intend to sting," Nahm replied, folding his hands into his sleeves serenely.
"Not much farther," he answered. "A few streets down." This wasn't the ritzy part of town, but neither was it the truly bad part of town; not a neighborhood where one had to watch one's pockets too closely, at any rate.

"Mine is too." he waved a hand vaguely. "Lengthy. To conceal." He wasn't sure why that was embarrassing to say, he was only talking about his tail. Not that he was sure if Nahm was in the same situation. He tried to shake off how flustered he felt, something twitchy and predatory coming into the way he moved, as if he was a film strip flickering between businesslike and hunting.
It was really hard to keep himself steered due level headedness. It was unsettling.
"Do you think it's warm today?"

"You do have a long tail," Nahm said, giving the appendage in question another approving glance. "I have to keep mine wrapped up. Light allergy, you know." Whether he knew how vague he was being was anybody's question.
"A little warm," he nodded. "Then again, I'm always a little warm."

Zar didn't need to be thinking about highly specific things right now, so he tried not to, forging onwards and trying to tune into the sound of his hooves on the ground, on the sky, on anything that wasn't anything to do with Nahm's robes or whatever was under them. "I don't think I'm allergic to anything. Perhaps disorganisation."
Again he found himself thinking about the robes thanks to the temperature comment and clenched his claws so tightly against his tail he broke the skin and yelped, letting go.
"I'm...it...I'm ..normally average." he said, trying to seize his stammer under control. "I tend to live life in a state of greys." He wished. His ideal was a nice level flatline existence but right now he was up and down like a heartbeat. His tail, released from his vice like grip curled back on itself to pat the injury he'd inflicted on it almost grudgingly "I do not feel things in any significant manner. I marked it was marginally hotter than normal today."

"I'd say you're anything but average," Nahm smiled, shooting Zar a sideways look, the glow of his eyes flickering once. "Ah, here we are, the Vulture's Roost. Are you still hungry? Myself, I'm starving."

Zar gave Nahm a momentary startled look, pupils narrowed down about as thin as they could go. Shaking his head he jolted himself out of it.
"I...well. Ahem. Food. Yes." He awkardly tottered on ahead a few steps before seeming to stop and reign himself in again. He was hungry. That alone was remarkable, normally when he was working there was no regard for needs or wants, hunger simply didn't happen, or if it did it was too distant to notice. Yet here he was with a full fledged aching gnawing need for food and it was almost dizzying, like someone had poured all the colour back into the world and made it delicious.
"I'm ravenous."

The grin under the scarf peeled all the way back to Nahm's ears. Oh, yes. He held the cafe door open for Zar. "My treat this time," he offered generously. "Whatever you like."

Not only food but free food. Well this just got better. "Fantastic. You are spoiling me." There was something like a purr in the way he said it, the mask slipping properly with focus back in the world "Not that I'm complaining, you see."

"That's usually not a complaint," Nahm returned, amused. He picked out a booth and slid behind the table, picking up one of the menus laid out at the places. "Let me see. I do recommend the steak. Best when rare, in my opinion, but I like my meat bloody."

Zar sat down himself, though his tail didn't want to seem to curl under him the way it normally did and he pinned it to the table next to the cutlery. "Oh I agree. I honestly can't abide cooked meat, I only eat it that way when I have to. I prefer it rare. Very rare." Honestly he preferred it presently deceased but you couldn't have it all.
