Right. This guy was nuts. Liam was OUT of here. "Right. Mir, come on. Seems this man can handle himself" he said sarcastically, if somewhat uneasedly. He turned on his heel, intending to move in the exact opposite direction of this man.
Ash was perturbed. That was a sound she had never heard before, and she wasn't sure if she liked it. It sent a chill down her spine and felt wrong. Her brother turned to leave and she looked after him, confused. But the man needed help! He was sick! Why else would he be making such noises? Why was Liam leaving? She turned back to the deer nuzzling the man, approaching cautiously. "Is he... is he allright? Is he hurt?" she asked the deer. Grenta flapped, as if trying to pull her back by her dress, then lifted off to try to pull her by her hair. "Ash. We're going. Now." "But Grenta, he's... He's hurting!" "Not our problem. We're going. Now" Ash ignored Grenta and sorted through her purse. Did she have anything? Any herbs to help? There were a few left over herbs from her forest walk yesterday.
"Insolent chick!" snapped Grenta, disentangling herself from Ash's hair to fly up and caw. "BAINER! DIYZEN! GET YOUR GRAVELBRAINED TAILS OVER HERE" She was getting reinforcements.
Well, that herb smelled very strongly? Would it make him sicker? Would it work? She thought it might! She held it out to the deer. "Do you think this would help?" she asked, waving the wilted sprig in the air.
Bainer cawed a response- she had been watching Diyzen harass ducks in a pond, which never got old. What the hell was Grenta cawing about anyway? She cawed to Diyzen. Apparently greyfeathers had her feathers in a tizzy. She'd go check it out. He might want to come too, if he didn't want to get pecked. Diyzen made one last pass at the ducks before grudgingly taking to the air to find Grenta. He didn't want to get pecked.

Morai seemed somewhat disturbed by his Chosen's little outburst as the tendrils of insanity began to seep through his bones. They did not always have control over their connections, and it was times like these that Morai wished that he could better contain himself. As it was, he gave the girl a good n**, catching only her clothing rather than flesh, and began to stamp at the ground nervously. If only he could speak, why couldn't he speak?!
He was aware that Gabriel was a danger at times like these, and people watching could do any number of terrible things. The buck looked to and fro as herbs were offered forward, his fur standing on end. It struck him then that while contact could not be made with the strangers, perhaps Gabriel was not beyond reaching. He stared up at the man, willing him to hear.
The wild roiling in Gabriel's head had become something like the ocean, were one lingering four feet deep on a stormy day. It was hard to hear or figure anything, but one little comment struck him in the heart.
'He's hurting!'
While there was no emotional reaction, there was a subtle thought process. Rather than run or stare, the girl was worried. She was trying to help. It took a few more moments of silence and hard breathing before he seemed to gather enough control to cease his laughing. First, he turned to a particularly noisy little woman lingering nearby.
"Move along..." Either she had recognized him or his voice had been growling enough that she startled and began on. As expected, the other staring patrons began to follow suit, if not with a bit of trepidation. His pupils dilated fully, Gabriel finally turned to the girl and wavered on his feet.
"Nothing can heal the things I see, child."
Then might have been the opportune time to leap upon his loyal steed and thunder into the distance, but it was fairly obvious that the man had very little thought in his head. Morai had calmed, though, now freed from the bonds of his master. He snorted and shook his head before nuzzling the girl's arm. He was sorry. They were both sorry.
Gabriel, meanwhile, was just staring vacantly through the ground.

Liam walked briskly away before bothering to look back. Oh what the hell?! She was STILL over there? DAMN IT GIRL. Had she lost all sense of self preservation? Was she somehow immune to the crazy? Uggggh, mother would kill him. He had to turn back. At least the guy had calmed down. Liam's face flashed an expression of anger and disgust before returning to the neutral.
The deer jumped at her and nipped, and she dropped the herb, startled. Then she saw his eyes. Eyes were not supposed to look like that.
Nothing can heal the things I see, child
Ash felt awful. She knew she could help. Ma had always said she was good at helping where herbs were concerned. But maybe she couldn't. What if she couldn't? She looked at the herb again. It probably wouldn't have helped anyway. It needed tea to work.
Ash was, though maybe not conciously, familiar with unhinged. Her connection to the reality around her was tenuous and mostly fabricated.
But to her, the world was a bright place full of wonder and things she knew, but didn't understand. She had never seen true, dark madness before.
The deer nuzzled her arm, shaking her from what she realized was a stunned, rabbitlike frightened staring. She pulled the young deer in for a hug, and began to cry. []"I'm sorry..." she hiccupped.
She didn't like what the man was doing. What did he see, that she didn't see, that made his world scream and make... whatever that sound was? What would make it go away. She didn't know.
At least the man had stopped laughing. That was some relief. Liam continued to trot along
Grenta gathered the two other birds that made up her flock around her and made a beeline down towards Ash. "This way! Ash! Get away from that!" she cawed, flapping around them.
Bainer and Diyzen had no idea what was going on, but cirlced with Grenta anyway, because if they didn't, their flockleader would peck them. And also it was fun. Why was she hugging a deer?

Morai gave a little stamp and a soft snort of comfort, folding his neck down around the girl for an embrace. He nuzzled her head softly, his horns not nearly long enough to do any damage, especially with how careful he was being. His calmness and presence in the moment said something of his Chosen's mood, although at the moment it was doubtful that anyone could make the connection.
Gabriel crouched in silence and picked the herb from the ground, his brow working in and out of tension as his mind began to crawl from the shadows. He rolled the stem in his hand and looked to the girl, his brow raising. She had been trying to help, and now the poor thing was crying. She was young... as young as Elise in her tears. He might have touched her were he not certain that it would frighten her at this point.
"What is this?" he asked, voice even and unusually calm considering the events of the past few minutes. Still he did not look to the tree, but it was easy enough to avoid with a girl so much smaller than he. Morai's eyes flickered back, but he did not relinquish his hug at the moment. The rooks that arrived did not seem to concern him, although his chin raised slightly from the girl's back. Gabriel spoke again.
"I didn't mean to frighten you."
The girl's keeper or brother or who ever he may be existed outside the realm of Gabriel's concern. He was ignored.
