Gwen beamed as she accepted the sketchbook, and in return, she set her own artbook next to Kallista to pick up at her own leisure. She wasted no time in diving right into Kallista's sketchbook, and she was eager to look at someone else's art. There weren't many people she knew at St. Mag's that enjoyed drawing or took it seriously besides sketching on the edges of their notes (something that Gwen was guilty of as well, assuming she couldn't sneak her sketchbook under her notebook that day).

The St. Mag's teen enjoyed drawing animals and figures, though her strong point would always be animals. She wasn't quite sure what she was expecting to see with Kallista, but it was certainly a nice change of pace for Gwen. She took her time looking through each and every page, admiring her line quality and even finding herself envious.

Gwen thought that she was pretty good for a self-taught artist, but it seemed that Kallista certainly had her beat, and she hoped to hide anything that might have been misconstrued as jealousy from her voice as she complimented the other girl. "These are very good! I don't think I could do half the stuff you did... did you take classes or are you self taught?"

While Gwen liked to be fed compliments, she couldn't help but feel a little shy about accepting Kallista's, and she wasn't quite sure why. She supposed that between the two of them, Kallista appeared more serious about her work whereas Gwen treated her drawing as a hobby. A hobby that she was horribly out of practice on. So while Kallista's compliment might have been genuine, she couldn't help but wonder otherwise.

Not that it mattered. A compliment was a compliment, and Gwen was more than happy to let it sink in as she gave a kind smile. "Thanks. I'd be much better if I took it more seriously, but given my extra curricular activities, it's just something I have to put aside. There'll always be time later, right?"

She handed her book back to Kallista, making it clear that she wanted to do the swap. Her drive to do better today was stunted, but not because of Kallista. She had inspiration to go draw something else, or rather someone else, and she knew that she could at least convince him to stay still long enough. "Thanks for letting me see your sketchbook, it's really good. Don't worry about ideas... there might be a drought for the moment but the pool will eventually fill back up."
