Gale and Otto, while it was rather difficult to see each other, might occasionally brush against something warm, a strange unusual texture that was both heavy and -
- Oh, that was the other's heads, good job.
Other than nearly colliding with each other thanks to the notable darkness and unsteady lighting, the etching on the wall revealed what seems like two arcs on either side, shaped symmetrically. There was nothing else notable carved into the wall, unless they were rehearsed in ancient languages suddenly and rather immediately.
There was a small click however, as they investigated the wall further. Somehow they had come across a switch. The Fear Scanner revealed that something else had opened up, a large surge of Fear that was coming from the deeper darkness in the corner of the room, at the tapered end of the wall. It was nearly impossible to see, though the strong wind coming from that direction indicated another opening. To their other side, on a small angle, was another opening, now glimmering brightly. A welcome yellow-orange light emitted that direction.

Go the direction of the heavier/ more concentrated Fear:
- It is incredibly dark inside save oddly enough for something in the center. Light pours from a hole above you. You see in the very center, a bunch of rocks stacked oddly next to each other. It seems to form a monument of some sort from the angle you approach it at. It also seems extremely fragile to the touch, as if moving it will destroy whomever had left it's handiwork. You can't help but notice there is a large circle engraved, glowing, around the center of the monument. There are two doors at adjacent walls from each other, giving the room a rather square look, but both doors, if they can be called doors, are locked.
Go the direction of the light:
- It is very warm in the room and you immediately see why. It seems like there are floating lanterns, simply suspended in mid-air, if they can even be lanterns. More like orbs. When you come closer, you realize that each one is actually a small minipet-like sprite giving off a luminescent aura. As you approach them each of them flicker out of existence. They seem to be coming from a corner of the room, though there is no visible exit. You can vaguely see also the outline of another door frame, but it is too dark to make out anything else. Your feet also splash into something wet and cold.
Wilson and Jake, however, were not as fortunate. They barely had time, as the Fear scanner screeched at them, before the ceiling began to shake, slowly at first, just a low noise, accompanied by the sprinkle of debris. It wasn't until a large chunk of rock crashed right next to Wilson that the situation became a bit more immediate, that both Hunters tasted dirt as literally, the ceiling began to cave in and threaten to collapse on them. Heavier rocks pelted them as they stood stunned.
While Jake was closer to the exit, Wilson was not as fortunate: moving any direction yielded in natural barricades rising up: the floor was threatening to swallow him even as the cave crashed down on him. He would remain here, permanently a prisoner until buried alone, or fight trying to escape.
Syusaki
Fight to get out:
You feel your energy fading away. Your limbs become heavy from all the silt and dirt falling to bury you, and you feel something sharp scrape against your legs, rocks rising from the ground. The ceiling seems to close in on you as your vision gets blurry. You barely have time to shout - or do you ?
Stay still:
You slowly feel the walls closing in on you, or the ceiling and floor. There seems no visible way out. Everything is dark.
[A.V.]
Help Wilson:
You reach in to help him, or where you think he is. The Fear scanner helps by locating his presence, in a friendly blue, on the screen. You manage to grab a hold of him, his hand, his arm perhaps, but nothing else. Perhaps the last thing you hear is his scream before the rocks collapse everywhere on you both.
Escape:
You feel like a coward but you simply don't have any other option. You take the nearest cave and escape. It is dark, you hear your own heavy breathing, you feel unsteady, you don't even know how large the room is or if the cave-in will catch up to you. There are two open doors you can now take, to the left, or bottom right corners, if they can be called door: more like cavern openings.

Wilson nearly jumped and spun around when he sensed another presence, but relaxed when he realized it was just Jake. “You startled m—“ He shuddered as the other hunter’s scanner screeched like some sort of announcement just before the walls began to tremble. “Crap.” Wilson ignored the panic rising within him as he jumped away from a fallen boulder. “Head for the exit!” he shouted over the noise while he attempted to navigate his way through the debris, but it was no once.
While Jake was near the exit, Wilson had received the short end of the stick. The debris piled up quickly, leaving him trapped in a rising wall of rocks and dirt. He felt tempted to try and fight his way through, but the floor was already threatening to swallow him up. “Head for the exit!” he tried shouting a second time as the walls crept closer. He tried to crumple into a ball and he couldn’t even tell if the darkness was because his eyes were closed or if there was no light at all. He tentatively reached out so he could feel his way through the dark.

Left tunnel... or right? The left one seemed closer, but maybe the right was bet- He didn't have time to debate it further as the FEAR scanner screeched at him, making him jump.
"s**t!" The sound made his ears ring, and he hadn't heard Wilson or the noise, but when he felt something fall on him, he looked up to see that the ceiling was shaking.
DAMN IT. Not. Good.
He was about to say something to Wilson, when a large rock dropped between the two, sending Jake tumbling back on the floor, coughing. No need to tell him twice.
However, as he was about to reach the exit, he turned, seeing that Wilson was... nowhere near him. Where did he-
The voice was urgent, pleading.
Damn it, what should he do? If he escaped now, he might be able to complete his mission and get out of here, but then Wilson... after what the hunter had done for him...
Gritting his teeth, he started to run... in the opposite direction, towards Wilson. This might have costed him the mission, his promotion... Hell, he might even get podded for this, if he made it out alive, but... he just couldn't leave him here, not after what the hunter had done for him. 4 months ago, he would have left an injured hunter to fend for themselves, but now...
Using the light of the FEAR scanner to guide him, he looked around frantically. Blue, blue, where... He reached out, grabbing onto something.
"WILSON, DAMMIT, LET'S G-" The sound was deafening, and soon, everything went black.

Otto nearly screamed when he felt something pass by him. In fact, he screamed a rather foul curse word staring with the letter F. His hand clamped over his mouth straight afterward. Way to give away where he was. If that was some sort of monster, he was done for. But the Fear Scanner showed nothing. His senses started to come back, and he realized what he'd touched was probably one of the other hunter's heads. Hair. That's all it had been. Not some cave yeti out for his innards.
Still terrified and on edge, and definitely not wanting whoever that was to know he'd screamed like a terrified child, he kept to himself. Continuing along, he eventually hit a switch. Rather accidental, but it sure beat waiting for nothing to happen. The Fear Scanner seemed to finally show some activity, which was both a blessing and a curse for the scared little southern boy.
Something to investigate? Good. The fact that this activity was coming from the dark path and NOT the path that finally had light.
Oh how he wanted to go to the light. But the scanner was reading Fear elsewhere, and he had a job to do. Or at least this seemed like the job-related thing to do. Otto crept slowly into the dark tunnel, the anxiety making him sweat, making his balance fall off center as he clung to the wall for support. If he could see, his vision would have been wonky for sure.
Someone up there liked him, for when he found the end of said tunnel, there was one small column of light pouring down from above. He breathed a small sigh, zoning in on that one beam of light like a beacon. He could vaguely see doors, and the obvious structure in front of him. Honestly, the doors were of no importance to him yet.
Otto scanned the circle engraved on the monument, wondering if it had been the source of the Fear Scanner's readings earlier.

He'd thought he was alone in here, that the others had gone in a different direction, but -
<< Well. I think we know who got stuck here with you now. >>
Gale winced slightly in the darkness, then sighed, wondering whether or not he should say anything to Otto, let him know that they were in the same space. But the tension was palpable in the air, and he was not entirely certain that he even wanted to talk to Otto, especially since he could hardly keep his own nerves under control. Being in the dark certainly heightened everything.
Gale followed along the wall, frowning in the near blackness, the FEAR scanner in his hand practically radiating with results now. Wind blew his hair back into his face - not that he could see anything anyway, but -
A light.
Curious - and more than a little suspicious - Gale edged towards the light, eyes narrowing a little at the brightness. He reached out a hand towards the little glowing figures, but they disappeared before his fingertips touched them, flickering out.
There was a splash. Gale stopped walking, his body freezing before hesitantly reaching down, dipping his fingers carefully into the wet and cold liquid to see what it was.

The cave-in was a shock more than anything else, the rocks for the most part sliding against them, pushing them down, until it was uncomfortably painful -
- Until both Wilson and Jake seemed to filter through the most narrow, bone-shattering funnel possible to pop through on the other side, falling what seemed like a deep distance downwards -
- Into more water, in fact, a room filled with water. The water itself was deep enough that anyone unable to swim would find themselves sinking, and eventually suffocating. There was no visible depth or ground beneath: the room relied entirely on their ability to tread water.
Wilson would find his leg injured, making it difficult to walk, while Jake would realize he was having a hard time breathing, thanks to the pain in his ribs every time he inhaled and exhaled.
The walls were entirely overrun with glowing carving runes on all sides. It wasn't a language understandable other than the runes were all written in neat, cluttered lines. To the left was a single cave, an exit.
Just when things seemed really bad something began to buzz, and crackle. It seemed the Fear Scanner was beeping, and apparently, waterproof. On it flashed a few words.

Go towards the cave and then find stable ground:
As you enter the cave, it feels like you have been swimming forever. The rocks look larger than usual, formations that seem mountainous in the bare lighting, despite the closed feel of all the other rooms. It takes you forever to find the smallest of alcoves, a flat stone platform..This is the last thing you see before you exit back to the beginning and wait further instructions.
Examine the runes and then attempt to find stable ground:
All the runes are tightly scrawled next to each other, though the ones submerged seem to have gone through a state of decay. The difference in colour of the runes suggest that perhaps the water has a slightly corrosive edge to it. Probably not safe for consuming.
You have to attempt to tend to injuries and tread water at the same time as you attempt to exit/ get teleported by the Fear Scanner. This is the last thing you see before you exit back to the beginning and wait further instructions.
The circle that Otto scanned showed no signs of life, though the pattern etched on it revealed runes similar in size and shape to the ones in the room prior. It was quiet in the room, though two equally bright sources of light seemed to be coming from both directions, exits facing away from him. The first sparkled a warm yellow light while the other a colder blue one.
And then something seemed to buzz, and crackle. It seemed the Fear Scanner was beeping, and apparently, waterproof. On it flashed a few words.

The glowing blue is actually caused by a beautiful simulation of a starscape in the walls of the cavern, glowing also rich with minerals. It gives a strange otherworldly feel to the room. This is the last thing you see before you exit back to the beginning and wait further instructions.
The liquid in the room seemed to sparkle and glisten as Gale touched against it. It echoed for a second, a music of its own before fading away. To Gale's left and right were two more rooms: one glowing a cold blue and the other smelling a fragrant pink. Unfortunately his further escapades were stopped by a beeping noise. It seemed the Fear Scanner was beeping, and apparently, waterproof. On it flashed a few words.

Everything was dark, and it hurt... a LOT. The only upside to this was that the pain at least told him he was still alive, albeit in pretty bad shape. With the rocks piled on top of him and Wilson, the weight of it was almost unbearable, but he didn't have the energy to cry out. It wasn't like would have done any good anways, except maybe cause more rocks to fall.
He felt his conscience slipping, everything growing numb, and was on the verge of passing out when the two of them fell through the ground, falling into... freezing cold water. At least this had jolted him awake, and made him realize that... he was in a LOT of pain. Every breath he took made his chest feel like it was on fire, making it all the more harder for him to stay afloat.
"Great..." Jake groaned, and sputtered as he ended up swallowing some water. Dammit all...
"W-Wilson....?" He struggled to stay afloat, as not only the pain from merely breathing was enough to make him black out, but he was wearing metal boots, which, for the purpose of treading water... was not a good choice of footwear. As if that wasn't enough, the FEAR scanner he had been holding was now floating not far from him, buzzing and beeping as a message flashed on the screen.
...Portal? Rendezvous? He blinked, and noticed that the walls surrounding them were covered with... runes? And... that cave... was that the exit?
Attempting to more forward, Jake winced as the effort required him to breathe a little harder, but managed to lift his head as he examined the runes. It seemed they were... a lot like the runic markings on Deus, which meant... there was no way he'd make any sense of it. He should probably record this somewhere, but it wasn't like he had any sort of writing utensil on him... or was any condition/position to do so.
Following Chester's instructions, he saw that there were more runes submerged underneath the water, parts of it seeming... corroded? And the colour... ... Oh s**t.
Clasping a hand on his chest, he gasped, shuddering at the pain, and tried to reach out to the scanner. He had to get out of this water, pronto, but considering the state he was in... there was no way he'd make it to the cave. Damn it all... was he going to die here?
Without warning, the scanner beeped and flashed, and in the next moment, he found himself on dry ground, breathing heavily, and using whatever little energy he had left to curse at the pain. It seemed he was... back at the entrance?
...s**t, Caelius was going to kill him.

Otto could find nothing in this room. Two exits that had locked doors, and two strange lights. What to do? Where to go? He was still dizzy and disoriented from his earlier panic attacks, still adjusting his eyes to the dimly lit area. His scanner seemed to buzz. Looking down, he saw a message that brought relief to his mind. Go back?
Don't mind if I do.
Lights be damned. All the shapes and designs meant little to him. He couldn't make any connections. He'd walked into this without any information to go on other than to explore. And frankly, Otto needed a light source that wasn't mysterious. He wanted real light again.
Otto left. Back at the rendezvous point. Back to a somewhat lit area.
He breathed out as if he'd been holding his breath for hours, sweat still beaded on his temples from his nerves going haywire.

Wilson cursed when he realized Jake had chosen to head toward him instead. “Jake, no. Head for the—“ He stopped suddenly when the rocks around them began to press harder, weigh heavier on his shoulders and back. Wilson gritted his teeth together as he tried to push against the load until he fell through in what was probably the most painful way ever. He could’ve sworn he heard ugly cracks that gave him an unsettling feeling in his stomach. But there wasn’t much time to register that fact before he fell into even more water.
At first he was completely submerged beneath the water. He tried kicking, but felt a sharp pain run up one of his legs, so he flailed his arms until he broke the surface. Wilson took in a deep breath and began to tread. He wiped the water dripping on his face so he could look around. “H-Here…” he sputtered while squirting water out of his mouth. The scanner began to beep and relay further messages, but the glowing runes around them both caught Wilson’s attention.
Initially he tried using his phone to take a picture, but then resorted to personally examining them. He ran a hand over a set of faded runes. The color drained from his face. [Let’s wash your mouth after this, kiddo.]No kidding.
When he was teleported, Wilson instinctively looked to his legs for support, but winced at the pain. Crap. The hunter immediately fell to his knee and waited for yet another chewing out session courtesy of Caelius.

His fingers came away damp from whatever lyrical liquid was lying on the ground, Gale frowning slightly in bemusement. He straightened, catching the last few strains of a faint, musical tone before it drifted away, slipping into nothingness.
Just ahead he could see more rooms - two of them, in fact. Gale took a step forward, but -
Beep beep.
The FEAR scanner in his hand was making noise. He glanced down at it, his brows drawing together as he read the small, neatly typed letters on the screen - but then he looked back up, his eyes moving from one room to the other, pressing his lips together in consternation.
He stepped towards the delicately wafting scent and found himself in a field of...flowers? They were bright blue, neon almost, but the place felt so very...serene. Calm. Relaxing. He could most likely stay here forever and feel entirely at peace...
<< Gale? >>
Hmm?
<< Time to go, kid. >>
...right.
Gale gave a small sigh, looked back one last time at the flowers, taking a deep, soothing breath, and then turned and started back towards the exit.

Instead of ending up at the 'starting point', the Hunters would find themselves somewhere else a little more familiar. At the familiar so-called round table (perfectly round), there was seated already the Death lead, then Mark, typing madly away on his computer, and then Sam, idly playing a round of Bubble Pop on her tablet phone. Noone actually bothered to look up at the mess of the remaining three though it was to be noted that Sam didn't actually look like she was in any state of damage.
They remained that way until the remaining Hunters took a seat, though Mark's typing notably slowed down as he occasionally glanced towards Wilson and Jake, and then back to his screen, not exactly subtle about his mild concern.
A few seconds ticked by before the Death assistant realized that it was sort of his cue to do something, shooting up straight from his chair as he grabbed several sheets of papers - stapled together - and handed one to each of the Death Hunter, barring Jake, who only got a single sheet. On the top sheet was the strangest diagram:
And behind the sheet marked the typical mission report form. On the second sheet of paper wrote 'Division term project proposal', though there was no real hint as to what that meant other than the very obvious words.
"You have exactly five minutes to chart out the correct path each of you took a well as any information on proper observation while in the testing field." The Death lead looked entirely unconcerned as he folded a few more mission reports in half and ripped them evenly and neatly. "After you have finished the primary part of the assessment of your base competence, we will revise the secondary portion of your term project proposal. Assuming that specialization is not a fancy word for <******** forgetting about it, and assuming you are still in my division, I require each of you to propose a term project. Think of it directly related to your Specialization, or even if you are considering one." He finally looked up, irritated as usual. "You are no longer trainees. You are expected to take and commit to your own tasks without my continuous holding of your ******** hand. If you cannot even prove to be worth something to this facility then I will see to it that you are replaced, permanently."
Ah, there was the usual death threat. Really, all things considered maybe he should stop threatening people with death. Maybe there were far scarier things in the world like Allan's underwear collection or the cages of mutated minipets in that part of the Life labs.
The rest of the time went relatively quiet, as Sam seemed pretty confident in her chart, routing out proper lines from one point to another on her direct path before waving the sheet to Mark. She paused though, in getting Caelius's attention, waffling a bit before also clearing her throat. "Sir, I would like to make an update to my current term project."
Silence. She shrugged and took it as a cue to continue to speak. "Weapons conversion is going well for the last quarter, conversation rates are up by fifteen percent, and we currently have logs of over one-hundred potential candidates. We're looking at a steady recruitment for the following term, as well as potential moles to make this happen. I am looking for helpers-"
"-Consider it granted if you provide substantial evidence of your current project."
Sam looked like she was about to say something else, but held her tongue, in all good reason, instead sitting back down, crossing her legs. "Yes of course." She however, jabbed Mark a few times, as if to suggest that the Death assistant better not consider cutting her budget. And by not cut her budget mean more like give her a better budget that didn't consist of one dinky office and several lackluster Life techs who were probably the result of nerdy inbreeding.
More silence passed.
"If noone else has anything to propose, then I will write you as invalid permanently." The Death lead's growing impatience was probably one of the primary reasons why Death Hunters were known for thinking on the spot, and being some of the best bullshitters in Deus Ex hands down.

Well then. That was a quick ride back. Otto squeezed his eyes shut from the sudden light attacking his now sensitive eyes. While he was grateful to have light again, the sudden adjustment was difficult to overcome.
The teen pulled his aviators over his eyes, a mental sigh given to the now shaded light. Much better. He knew he carried these around for more than just looking cool. Sitting down, he managed a long moment of silence to settle his rattled nerves.
Not only was this all stressful and life threatening, the chart they'd been given looked less comprehensive than a map drawn by a preschooler. Did Mark do this? He was pretty sure it was Mark. Otto felt almost like he ought to make his own damn map. Oh well. He did his best at interpreting them. After all, if he got it wrong what was the worst that could happen?
. . . Don't answer that.
[[Chart Filled]]
And that was the easy part. He still needed to write out his findings, a mission report... and a what? A proposal for a.. Term Project? Otto was a man of very little ambition. Suddenly he had to propose a special responsibility onto himself. All he knew was how to follow orders begrudgingly. Now he had to be a leader of sorts? He had to think and act on his own, and he had to think of this very fast; lest he be labeled "invalid". Whatever that meant.
s**t.
His ears perked after a long moment of struggling with his paper work to overhear Sam. So was that her specialization? The weaponizing of and being a liaison to the Halloween Students. He was not fond of the assignment he'd been working on with her. It had been thrust upon him by a terrible ginger named Rep. The job was mostly babysitting. Otto hated babysitting. He hated talking, mingling, anything that involved too much socializing.
Just why was he in Death again?
Crap. He really was a useless Death Hunter. How the Hell had he gotten this far, anyway? CRAP! He still hadn't filled anything out. What was Gale writing on his? s**t, he was sitting too far away to see. How much time did he have left? Could he bull s**t ******** it, just do the mission report for now.

The blonde looked like he might be sweating again, and this time from an all new state of panic. A lot less terrifying than being alone in the dark, but made him equally anxious. Maybe he should have been a Sun hunter. Did they have this kind of pressure? Maybe it was just Caelius who had a hard on for paper work at death threats. And since when did he ever hold their hands in anything anyway. Jackass only ever used his hands to push them over cliffs.
Complaining and worrying was getting him nowhere.
Otto buckled down, lifting his shades up and over his hair to keep his bangs out of his eyes. He needed to get to the root of why he was panicing before he could think. Why did he think he was useless? Every time he was in a mission or asked something, he looked to others for background information, or others on what was best to do. Why? Because he was't privy to that information. So how could he change that? If he was supposed to wear the Big Boy Hunter pants, than that meant he should have all the information he wanted. However, he hated meeting people face to face, especially Halloween. They had a habit of nearly killing him. Kind of uncool, and a real danger to his now scarred complexion.
Didn't the Life Labs tag some Halloween kids? What if there was a less invasive way to keep tabs. A way that didn't make them paranoid and crazy? What did cops to?
...Phone Tapping!
But how was he supposed to tab every phone in a high school for monsters? Well, he couldn't. Maybe if special ones were made and sold? Charms, gadgets, laptops. Things made by Deus and distributed throughout the school?
Otto began writing away, his tongue sticking out of the corner of his mouth as the ideas flowed onto paper. A project like this was probably majorly expensive, and maybe unfeasible for one little Death Hunter; but the point was, it was a smart proposal. Therefore, it gave Otto a reason not to get permanently ended. Hopefully.

Going from the peaceful, relaxing area that the bright blue flowers had brought and then immediately to see His Royal Painnness, Caelius was rather like spending time in a nice, warm jacuzzi and then being forced to jump into the arctic waters. Unpleasant and sometimes painful.
But here they were, back at the Perfectly Round Table, with Caelius looking like...Caelius, Mark attempting to look busy (maybe he actually was - but, then again, maybe pigs would fly some day), and Sam doing...absolutely nothing.
Gale gave her a Look, sighed, and pulled the sheet towards him to fill it out.

There was also a strange wind that seemed to blow, though I couldn't discover a source.
Upon further investigation, I discovered that there was some sort of liquid on the ground. I was unable to determine what kind it was, but it did not seem to be anything harmful. Moving forward, to my left there was a room that had something gold glowing in it, but I chose to move to the right, to a place filled with vibrantly blue flowers that gave off a very alluring scent. It was quite pleasant in there; I think the flowers had some sort of calming balm to them, something to make their aroma relaxing.

After filling out the mission report, Gale leaned back in his chair and gave Sam his attention - though admittedly the discussion of weapons conversion made him slightly tense. Mei-Xiu flashed briefly into his mind, but he pushed those thoughts away, concentrating instead on the matter at hand.
Like trying to figure out what he was going to do for his own project proposal.
It took Gale a moment or two to get his brain working at the proper capacity, as well as to get Jinhai to shut up and stop yapping about dragons because he couldn't even think with all that chatter and Jinhai to stop screeching indignantly and arguing that he was just trying to help, but fine, next time he won't.
The silent but furious fight between human and weapon went on for a full thirty seconds before Gale won by default.

Jake would have contended to lying on the floor forever, being useless while he waited for the pain to pass, were it not for the presence of the death lead... and company.
Quickly pushing himself up, he hissed a curse at the pain in his ribs, and with a hand pressed to his side, and hastily grabbed a seat just as the other hunters had.
When the death assistant got up and handed out pieces of paper around, Jake only stared blankly at the sheets placed before the other hunters before staring at the single sheet in front of him. What was this, a puzzle? Oh wait... what this the "map" they were supposed to keep track of? Oh s**t... Dammit, why couldn't he just fill out mission reports instead? DAMMIT ALL.
The trainee was staring at the sheet, wondering just what the heck they were supposed to do with this. Wait, WHAT, 5 MINUTES? And that was to fill out the chart, mission report AND term pro- wait, he didn't have to do that, but still, 5 minutes probably woudn't even be enough time for him to figure out this puzzle.
THANKS A LOT CHESTER. s**t, s**t, um... He stared at the sheet, mulling over what each symbol might have represented. Well, uh, there was a heart...and a knife... a chair? He was staring at the paper for so long he was starting to see dots.
Maybe...
Brows furrowed, he drew a circle over the blank spot, and an arrow connecting to the chair. Wait, didn't he and Wilson technically take the same path? He shot glances at Wilson, trying to see what he was doing, and back to his sheet. This continued for a while.
Wilson. Wilson. Wilsonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. Your kouhai needs help.
s**t WHAT NO slfjslkdf He hastily circled off the candlestick-looking thing (those were kinda like runes, right?) and an arrow leading to the pitch-black block underneath (he didn't know what he was doing anymore).
(Chart)
He then proceeded to flip the sheet over and hastily scribbled point-form notes on the mission report.
(Report)

With that done, he slumped on the table, breathing heavily. Damn this pain... He listened quietly as Gale and the other blond hunter gave their term proposal, and was somewhat glad he didn't have to come up with one. It was still quite some time before he hit hunter, but... yah, it was pretty interesting listening to these ideas... when he wasn't dying from pain.
What makes you say that? I have no intentions of being anyone's lacky. ... Fine.
With some effort, he pushed himself off the table, giving the female hunter a weary look before clearing his throat to address Caelius, which resulted in him coughing in pain.
"S-sir... maybe... I could... assist with weapon conversion, since she's looking for helpers... Part of him was hoping the death lead hadn't heard him, or would shoot down his offer, because... offering to assist that sardonic hunter... what was he even thinking?
Zoobey

After what seemed like a very, very long time listening to Mark tapping one foot nervously against the edge of the table, Sam typing away on her phone with a rather noisy tak-tak of her nails, and finally, the rustling of papers, followed most likely by a session of judging you, the Death lead paused long enough to stare in the general direction of the other Hunters in very much of a look that suggested judging and perhaps you.
"I have a theory," He began, in that sort of tone he reserved for extremely long speeches, which meant that usually Hunters had roughly 1 - 5 minutes extra to figure out what to do with their meaningless lives, "That the longer Hunters stay within this facility idling, the faster their brains will degrade into levels of retardation beyond salvaging. If I ignore the fact that less than fifty percent of so-called Full Hunters actually fulfilled the investigation and completed the mission report correctly, and the issue of the only salvaging report being the special class mission report fulfilled by a trainee." He paused to let things sink in, though most likely the Hunters were considering other options such as, were they alive? Were they dead? Did it matter what happened anyway if they were going to die? What was the meaning of their lives, hamsters trapped in an eternal wheel of disapproval, vying for the acceptance of their elders only to be shot down eternally, the vicious cycle that could not be complete-
- "It could be worse," Sam shrugged, flipping her pen back and forth between her fingers, "We could have pulled a Life Division and proposed to build a rocket ship to the moon."
If Caelius was going to say something he lost his opportunity as he opened his mouth for a second, most likely to mention that noone with that level of retardation would actually be considered a full Hunter, thought suddenly of a few individuals and did a sort of strange expression that might have been equivalent to a moment of slight relief. The usual look returned, quickly enough. "Your projects will be reviewed by Mark and you will be assigned term projects, accordingly, related to your specialization proposal. I expect a full and cohesive completion of these projects. Contrary to popular belief, Deus Ex facilities does not just magically stumble into conflicting occurrences, and your existence does not rely on waiting for something to ******** kill you. You will be of purpose to this facility and only after having delivered your exact purpose will you have proper permission to die."
Without warning, he stood up, chair scraping loudly behind him as he grabbed several files off the desk and simply walked off, slamming the door behind him.
Mark sort of just stood there, and then shook his head a bit to clear his thoughts. "Uh, yes these uh, the stuff." He moved over and grabbed the files Caelius didn't take, including the recently submitted reports. "Sam-"
- Sam stopped typing to judge Mark-
- "Good job! You get anewlargerroomandstuffokayhereyougo." Mark shrank a little bit and practically threw some papers at her.
"Okay next up is Gale, um, if your specialization is external investigation, we do have some areas, you know like, hotspots you need to look into. I think investigating these areas should please the head honcho greatly."
Gale received a folder of boobies uncensored.
"And okay, Otto lessee, ah yes! Halloween propaganda material! I know just the thing!" The printer hummed and buzzed a bit before Otto got a blank list. Mark shrugged. "We don't do much hand holding really, it's all up to you. It's more what you can do instead of what you should be doing, or more, how uh, you know, 'competent'-" Air quotes - "You are to the rest of us. If you need any budgeting for your project for equipment I'll see what I can do considering the Weapons Con-"
-Sam kicked him hard under the table.
- ".... No room for budgeting, please improvise!" The Death assistant wheezed, keeling over on the table. He coughed a bit. "Yeah good job guys, good job, I'm just, I'm just gonna roll down and die now, please ignore me."
OOC
- IF anyone has any lingering questions about their uh, specialization term project they should stay to ask questions otherwise they can exit!

Jake would find a full Intermediate Hunter coat waiting for him in his room the next day! There is no note or anything enclosed on it, though it seems like there's the lightest hint of old blood stains on it...
