Shooing her off of his arm hadn't worked. She still pressed her hand there, and Gabby's little dead heart made a strange little fluttery feeling pass through him. He used his other hand to poke at his chest, trying to distract himself from the feeling. Was she doing this? Was she making him feel these weird things? He hoped not. He couldn't get rid of her. How was he supposed to stop feeling weird, if it was all her fault?

He side-glanced at her hand, on his arm, and then looked away. It was all very non-chalant, the way he kept looking at it, and then away. Very casual.

And then she was back to talking about the fish, and all of his funny feelings vanished in place of a much more comfortable annoyance. He rolled his eyes and slumped his shoulders. "And where, exactly, do you want to cook it?"

Sibyl's eyes went wide as she fell silent. Where to cook it..

"Someplace with a fire." She finally answered, looking up at Gabriel. Now it was her turn for a duhhhhh moment. "Or a kitchen." That worked too.

"I have neither in my dorm." Gabriel replied flatly, his eyes thinning. "And I've only been in school for a couple of days. I don't know where to find either of those things."

He duh'd right back at her, but his lips twitched. Was he trying not to smile? No, he wasn't, shut up.

"I know where there's a kitchen! Come on, come on!" That was Gabriel's only warning before Sibyl grabbed his right hand and tugged, her intention being to lead him to the home ec room so they could cook their fish and eat it too. It would be even better with all the cake and chocolate on it too! It added flavor.

..When, exactly, had he agreed to actually go cook the fish with her?! Somewhere in his question he'd accidentally done so, it seemed, and now he was being dragged off to whatever odd place she knew of that had a kitchen. He tried to consider this an impromptu tour, and attempted to not be too unhappy about it.

"As long as we're not about to break into anyplace. I'm not going down for you, Sibyl." He warned, very serious about only doing legal things with people he'd just met.

"Noooo! The cafeteriaaaa it has a kitchen!" Sibyl insisted, dragging Gabriel where she wanted him to go. Yay! They were cooking the fish!

When they finally reached the home ec room Sibyl released Gabriel's hand, giving a happy little 'ta daaaaaaa!' and gesturing to the rest of the kitchen. "Now we can cook Mr. Fishy! Yay!" She held him proudly above her head, jumping up and down with joy.

"How should we cook him?" Sibyl grinned up at Gabriel, waiting for his answer. Would they bake it? Fry it? Chop it up? Cook it whole?

Being led into the home ec room actually surprised Gabby. He took a look at where they'd come from, and tried to remember how to get there. This was legitimately a helpful little piece of information.. who would have thought Sibyl was actually going to show him something he wanted to see? She was still talking about cooking that damn fish though.. but at least he'd gotten something out of the deal.

"Uh." He stared at her skeptically. "I don't care really, as long as it's fully cooked. I don't like raw things, so.." He didn't like fish, either, but he was starting to get the hint that Sibyl wasn't taking no for an answer.

Yes. He was only starting to get that hint now.

"You choose."

He paused, took a look at the ovens, and then gave her a look.

"Just be careful."

"Okies!" Was Sibyl's reply to his warning to be careful.

So he didn't like raw things. Right, yes. He said this before. She remembered! Suddenly Sibyl looked incredibly proud of herself all of a sudden and she didn't even bother to explain why. Instead she put the fish in the sink and wandered off to find pans and things, putting a few boxes and jars of various...you know what don't even try asking what she's grabbing. It's a mystery if Sibyl even knows what she's doing.

Somewhere in her search she found a stool, pushing it along until she was by the fish again. She washed it like a good ghoul, though she was sad to get all the cake off it; it had taken a lot of resistance to not just bake it as it was. Did Gabriel like cake? She didn't know. Cake was...was it raw?

Maybe. Let's go with yes.

After a few minutes of preparation the fish was put in a pan and the pan was stuck in the oven.

The whole fish. She didn't cut it, she didn't gut it, filet it, de-bone it. Nothing.

"S'going to take a little while. Ohohoh! Whaddya wanna do while we wait?" She bounced on her toes, clapping her hands excitedly. Gabriel was obviously full of fun ideas.

Gabby knew nothing about cooking - especially fish. When she went to work, it looked like she knew what she was doing. Finding out whether or not that was true would have to wait until she actually made him eat it.

When she turned to ask him what they should do, his face contorted into a look that sort of said 'Why me?' before he shrugged, and started opening up cupboards. "We can go through everything, see if there's anything fun in these-"

As he said this, the cupboard he opened expelled all of its contents. There must have been dozens of them - small, red, heart shaped boxes, all falling on his head, one by one, clattering to the floor until he was knee deep in them. When the cascade finally stopped, he picked up the box that was still on his head, opened it, and gave it a cautious sniff.

"Scarentine's Day chocolates." He deadpanned, picking one out of the box and flicking it at her. "I think we just ruined someone's Scarentine's."

Well that sort of made him feel a little better about being attacked by the killer boxes. He popped one of the chocolates into his mouth, chewed, and made a 'not bad' expression.

"What are you doing for Scarentine's?" The inflection he'd used for the question indicated that he was curious as to whether Sibyl spent her Scarentine's just as alone and brooding as he did. But taken a different way than intended..

Go through the cupboards? But she just did that there wasn't--

Oh. Well then.

Sibyl gasped and hopped back away from Gabriel as a cupboard exploded all over him. She made several attempts to come closer when she thought the boxes had stopped falling only to stop when another one appeared, finally stepping up to stand beside the small chocolate box mountain that had built up around Gabriel. Oh hey! She recognized these! "I forgot this was coming up soon!" She gasped, picking up another box. A chocolate suddenly hit her forehead and she squeaked, looking up and looking horrified. They ruined someone's Scarentine's!? Oh no! Nonono! That was bad, very bad! She quickly gathered up several boxes in her arms and tried to shove them back into the cupboard, stopping only when she heard Gabriel's question.

Eh?

"I dunno! I made some new friends last year..." Something about fur versus fins. Hm. "I wanted to spend it with my Marzie but I think she might be busy." Marzie got busy a lot...and even when she didn't seem it, something always seemed to come up whenever she would try to hang out with her. Weird. Her Marzie was so popular! She was happy. Sibyl grinned again. "I'll spend it making someone happy! That's what Scarentine's is for, right?" Totally, Sibyl. "How about you?"

He knew it had been a long shot. But there was always that tiny chance the bubbly ghoul had a streak of emo hidden somewhere in her when it came to the dopiest of holidays. He had to ask.

"Why's she going to be busy? Is Marzie in one of those couples things?" He casually inquired, reaching up to knock one of the boxes that she'd put back, out again. "Me, I'm probably going to hole up in my room, lock the door, and turn up some music as loud as possible so I can't hear all the smooching." He snickered, and a genuine smile lit up his normally scowling face.

Sibyl shrugged. "I'unno! Maybe. I wouldn't be surprised. My Marzie is amazing. Any boil would be lucky to have her." She gave a sage nod, looking very sure of her words. Did Marzena have a boilfriend she wasn't telling her about? Oh no! That wouldn't do! She'd have to find out so she could find out this boil's intentions toward her role model and goddess divine. When the box was knocked back out Sibyl puffed out her cheeks and pouted, making a little noise of annoyance as she picked up the box and put it back into the cupboard. Nooooo! Bad Gabriel! Bad!

His answer was met with a look of confused concern. Why would he do that? Scarentine's was fun! "Nooooo! Nonono! You need to go out! You need to have fun! You need to spend it with someone you like who likes you too! Someone really awesome and cool and nice and pretty and..and awesome!" Sibyl felt strongly about this, apparently. No one should be alone, especially not on a day that was meant to be spent with another person. Sibyl couldn't just allow someone, especially not her new best friend, to hermit it up and be all lonely and sad and possibly crying into his pillow because everyone was out doing something awesome and he wasn't.

The tragic fantasy was almost too much for Sibyl to handle. She couldn't let Gabriel do this. She'd find someone for him to spend his day with!

Sibyl was overselling Marzena a little too hard. In fact, if Gabby didn't know better, he'd actually ask her to set them up - but anyone that this ghoul adored with that much ferocity.. was probably as hyper and talkative as she was. He figured one Sibyl was enough for him.

"Sibyl." He murmured, chuckling condescendingly. "Poor, sweet, darling little Sibyl. I absolutely do not have to go out and do anything on Scarentine's. This is one of those days where people like me just try to stay out of other people's way - and I'm okay with that. As long as nobody tries to do any funny voodoo love magic on me, I'm good. Really."

He patted her head, and then casually knocked the box back out of the cupboard, giving her a half-smirk of mischievous amusement.

"Besides, I don't actually know anybody who's all of those things." He let out a snicker. "I'm better off alone."

Suddenly Sibyl's face was hot and pink. He thought she was sweet and darling. She stared at the boil with a stunned look on her face, the rest of his words completely drowned out by sweet, darling little Sibyl.

Gabriel pat her head and she squeaked, her hands covering her cheeks and her face turning down to hide.

Oh gosh this was so embarrassing.

The box landed at her feet, and she didn't actually see how it had fallen this time. For all Sibyl knew he was being symbolic and dropping it from the sky the same way he had with the fish.

So romantic.

She picked up the box, turning her face up to Gabriel again with a huge smile. "O-OKAY!"

Sibyl looked like she was getting a fever. Gabby was glad he was dead - he hated fevers. Always so warm and uncomfortable. He just watched her suffer for a minute, scratching his cheek with one finger as he tried to remember if fevers were still infectious somehow to dead people, when she turned towards him and practically screamed okay. He took a step back, startled at the phrase, and tried to understand what she meant.

The last thing he'd said was that he was better off alone.

So she was agreeing to that?

Somehow, that felt kind of harsh. But at least she wasn't disagreeing with him, anymore. So it was only natural to accept her answer cordially. "Uh.. well.. all right then. Glad we're on the same page."

They were not on the same page.
