She might have jut her bottom lip out a little at his smirk. "I'm just a little slow on the uptake for certain things, okay? Don't look at me like that--I figured it out eventually!" ...Or well, at the very least, she didn't continue to be thick-headed when the actual confession came around. It wouldn't have been the first time that she remained oblivious even when told something point-blank, though...
...Okay, that was something she would have to work on. She didn't even realize her own feelings until this situation brought them out to the surface (Chara, on the other hand, had probably been far more aware of Eva's thoughts than she was).
Ah--so he was still okay with the nickname! "Haha, I'm glad! You've been my puppy for so long that it would have been hard trying to drop it, I think." And it was an affectionate nickname anyways, so it wasn't as if--oh.
...Oh. "So uh...what does...that make our relationship now...?"

Otto snorted in amusement at her flustered pout. Yes, she figured it out when he spelled it out. If she'd been oblivious after all that he'd likely have given up for lack of options.
Oh.. right. That.
"Uhm.." Otto paused, staring back at Eva as he thought. "Well.. I'd like to think it's a step up from just friends. I'd like a relationship, anyway.." Even if Deus was hardly the perfect place for a budding romance, what with its boundless danger and status effects. There were a few people who seemed to make it work.
Besides, compared to a long distance relationship he once had, this was a cake walk. Eva was just one floor away.

Deus Ex indeed wasn't the best place for things like this, but it was impossible not to forge bonds with the people here. Dating--if you could call it that--definitely wouldn't work the same way here than it would have if they were "normal", but it certainly wasn't impossible. Weren't the couples here a testament to that?
She grinned approvingly at his response, "An upgrade...I'd like to think so too." Another cheek nuzzle, and then she drew back and blinked up at him, all wide eyes and innocence...
"So am I supposed to give you a kiss now?"
...And mischievousness. Plenty of that. Despite--or perhaps because of--the fact that she was still a little jittery inside, Eva still found herself comfortable to tease the boy. Despite the step up, there were some things in this relationship that would never, ever change. Fluttering her lashes innocently, she beamed up at the blond.
And then tried to make a run for it.

An upgrade. Well that was one way of putting it.
Her question caught him off guard, especially after being distracted by another affectionate nuzzling of her cheek. Well, he couldn't lie. He sure wanted a kiss. However, the impish girl giggled and ran off after fluttering her pretty little lashes at him.
That.. troll.
"That ain't fair, Eva!" Otto yelled out to the fleeing figure.
Yep. Not much would change right away for them. He retained the fun and light heartedness that made up their friendship, and got something a little more. So in the end, he got his cake and ate it too.
