Skuld nodded to both the kids and Percys first question, "Yes, they say Shadows are more..intimidating...as for the item,yes I have one. My original parents gave me a Mourning Veil." She smiled before she started to play with the hem of her skirt, remembering her original parents with disgust after they gave her back to the Academy.

Intimidating?! She don't scare me! scoffed Angry. Even if she had a Mane, she was clearly not a threat. Ha!
I'm sorta scared though... remarked Percy, fluttering a little, Kinda like her.
No you dont it was an assertion, not a comment. No way. He wasn't letting percy be friends with that one.
Whether he could stop her or not was another matter
"Original parents, huh..." Percy murmured, "Well, Do you like it? your veil?"
She did seem a little intimidating, sure, but Zachary was good at keeping such feelings at bay.
He may not have picked up on the disgust and disdain, or on the touchiness of the subject. But the phrase 'original parents' caught his mind, and he had to investigate.
"Original parents? So you were adopted before?" He had enough presence of mind to remember some manners.
"What, if I may ask, happened to them?"
