"A skinwalker?" Rezo jerked his head back in surprise. He had heard of such things happening but had never actually witnessed it himself. "You are very lucky to have survived," he told her frankly. "Not many soquili escape after a skinwalker attack." Even fewer soquili escaped after breeding with one. He remembered one herd he had been to. They had recently found the dismembered body of one of their stallions, torn to pieces after apparently mating with a coyote walker. Several years later they encountered his spawn, and that was a terror that Rezo was quite glad not to have been around for.

"If it is a skinwalker that has your baskets... they are most likely dead already." This was a truth that she needed to hear. It would only tear her apart pointlessly if she went searching for children that were already dead.

Tsunami's heart sank a little at Rezo's words. There was truth in what he said but there was something that she didn't understand. Confusion lingered in her mind before she felt the need to correct Rezo. Jayden hadn't attacked her until she had tried to see the baskets. All the time before that he'd been a little rough around the edges but he had not harmed her. He had kept her relatively healthy. He'd even allowed her certain concessions. It had been a strange relationship between captor and captive.

Her expression changed to that of puzzlement. She knew that 'walkers had the reputation of pure evil. Jayden had almost seemed concerned at some points during her stay with him. "I didn't think it would have ended like that. He promised me that he would give me children. Why would he take them from me afterward? I don't understand."

In her heart Tsunami felt that Rezo's words could have been true about the fate of her children ... but something inside denied the fact that her children were already departed from the land of the living.

"Skinwalkers are pure evil, demons from a far off underworld sent to this one to torment those that live here." Rezo grew more distant, recalling the lore and legend of skinwalkers that he had studied over the years. Fortunately for soquilikind, skinwalkers were vanishingly rare. Some soquili lived their entire life without ever even smelling one, let alone seeing one. Sadly, this lack of interaction led to a lack of fear in some. Many did not know the danger that they posed so fell easy prey to a skinwalker's fangs and claws.

"Whatever you do, you must stay away from him." Rezo fixed her with a sightless stare. "I know not what he wanted of you, but you have survived. It is best to keep it that way."He went back down again to heal her, though it seemed like the worst of her injuries were closed.

Tsunami cast her gaze to peer down at her body. It seemed as if Rezo was as good as his word. Most, if not all, of her wounds had disappeared under the power of his horn. The words he spoke pinched at her deep inside. She had wanted to see what would emerge from her baskets but then Jayden's attention towards her had done a one-eighty. He'd become aggressive and violent. He'd marked her with his fangs and those sharp claws. Thinking about the attack again had Tsunami's body tensing. She could have been killed. Had Jayden let her live only as punishment; knowing that it'd kill her spirit deep inside not to see her children grow up. Living day after day without knowing what had happened to them could slowly drive Tsunami insane with worry ... unless she could find a way to push forward and leave the past in the past.

Tsunami gave a heavy sigh. It seemed full of resignation. Her eyes fixed on Rezo's form again. Her mind shied away from the past as she noted all the stallion's features. Rezo's eyes still seemed closed. Was there something that she could do anyway? "Perhaps that is advice I should take to heart. Rezo, I know you don't ask for anything in return but is there anything I can do for you?"
