Maia looked a little surprised at Leda's giggle, but it made Maia smile and feel a little more relaxed though she quickly put on a serious face as she continued righting the girl.
She watched as Leda took a moment to just get a feel for it, copying the stance on her own while only to find herself surprised again, but an in coming fist that she barely dodged and stumbling a bit. She hadn't been paying a much attention as she should and she was glad she had fairly developed reflexes.
"That was really good," she said moving to stand in front of Leda and fixing her again and pulling her arm that was closer to her out toward her middle. "This hand thats further from you is more likely to hit, but, " she pushed that hand back for hand closer to Leda, "this one will back more punch when you've got a good opening, since its got further to travel."
She was finding herself repeated having to explain things like this and she hoped she was getting everything right, her research was minimal and she'd mostly taught herself to fight and not had much real combat training until she was a super.
"Now," Maia said backing away, "try to hit, me. Find your rhythm, your style and once you land a hit on me, we're done for the night."

Leda was happy to finally impress the senshi who elected to train her. Maia was a wonderful mentor - she wasn't too tough, and she seemed to understand how hard it was for the new senshi to swallow the concept of fighting. She hated violence, but sadly she was beginning to understand it was necessary in ending this war. She needed to at least know enough to defend herself, and then she could hopefully settle into a more diplomatic role.
Or just retreat to her house and never power up again, but at this point... She owed it to Maia to learn all she could and try to protect the city with her, right? People didn't deserve to live in fear.
"Okay, so um, I should do a quick hit with the farther hand first to kinda stun them or something, and then follow up with the fist closest to me?" That sounded like it would do the most damage, but she wasn't too keen on inflicting pain in the first place. Her attacks already managed that kind of agony... Scalding hurt. "Um, I'll see what I can do... I think I can get this, just um, don't blame me too much if I can't hit you very hard, okay? You're a friend, not an enemy." Then again, she didn't think she could attack an enemy without substantial provocation.
With a deep breath, Leda tried to steady herself. The pose still felt hopelessly foreign to her, but she needed to learn this. Maia expected it of her.
"Okay... I'll try my best!" Just pretend she's a youma. She's a youma that totally looks like a normal senshi girl. With a threatening squeak, she took off toward Maia and tried the tactic she mentioned earlier - a quick punch toward Maia's shoulder to hopefully distract her enough for a following, more forceful punch.
Now when would she learn how to kick someone?
