==The Fountain==
The water sparkled. Melody wasn’t sure if it was from the sun shining so brightly on the water, or if it was because the water was special water. The latter may not have been very likely, but the thought crossed Melody’s mind anyway and the Chatot was instantly intrigued. Chirruping softly, she flew closer to the fountain with the particularly sparkly water and perched nearby, choosing to watch it for a moment before she bothered trying to creep closer. If it was special water, she might damage it by touching it, and she didn’t want that! Oh, no, she didn’t want that at all!
After a long moment of simple observation, the bird Pokémon finally ventured closer, landing on the edge of the fountain and daring to stretch a wing out to touch the edge of the spray. The water hit her and she squawked, pulling her wing back and tucking it close to her as she inspected each of the feathers for any weird effects. So far as she could tell they were just wet, but... it could just be an initial reaction! Further investigation was called for.
This time, Melody stepped forward and into the fountain, ducking her head under the spray and cooing. Oooooh. Oooooooh, that felt nice! Chirping, she ruffled her feathers. Oh, oh yes right there; that got one of her feathers that had been itching. She stretched her wings out and dipped them into the water, beating them under the wet and sending more magic droplets spraying everywhere. Whee! Look at the sparkles!
Next, she ducked her head under the water and then stepped forward, proceeding to roll and dip and roll around some more until she had gotten every inch of herself soaking wet. Finally, she climbed back out of the fountain and flopped awkwardly to the ground next to it, beginning the long and trying task of preening her feathers back into place. That bath had been nice; baths always were! But it was so much work to get all of her feathers back in order, and it took so much time and attention when she would rather be doing other things...
Oh!
But what if the water was magic, and had a weird effect on her feathers? What if she’d turned purple? A squawk escaped her and Melody set about preening herself once more, determined to find out if any of her feathers had been altered. If they had, then she had been right and the water’s sparkle was because it was magic! If not...
Well, if not, she might just need to investigate again.
