Interesting? Interesting wasn't the word, it was horrible. Her sensitive ears knew that much. It was painfully distorted but when her fingers started to play it they couldn't help but continue. There was more, much more than she would allow herself to carry through with.

Looking from Roch to the piano as the reaper told her something to try she tilted her head as she gave it some thought. "I think....I will have to pick a different story." It was the story that seeped through her fingers into the keys of the piano. True she was happier than she was but there were still a lot of issues she was working through and at times she felt like that tune, all twisted and distorted inside.

"What about yours?" She seemed a little hesitant to touch the keys again, though she did not turn from the piano.

He hesitated. Then he dug through his pockets pulling out a bandanna. "Gimme a sec," he said, getting up and heading into the hall. There he summoned his guitar and tied his bandanna around the blade part of the headstock after he had it tuned. Then he came in.

It looked ridiculous, but it was his own awkward way of being gentle. He dropped down on the chair next to the piano and looked at her hesitantly. "It's a lullaby... sortta," he said, trying to warn her. "I got the idea from... well, what we are. The end, y'know? It should be sweet, if it can be. Even if I ain't much of a human lover."

The tone of his guitar hummed under the skin, as he started to play. It was coaxing and gentle, yet he stopped after a few moments, cursing. "I always screw up at this part," he said. "It's missin' something."

Tilting her head toward Roch she saw that he had pulled out a bandanna. Curious as to what it was for she watched him disappear beyond the door into the hall. When he returned he had his guitar in hand with the bladed part covered. Mitsu smiled somewhat awkwardly but she was appreciative of what he was trying to do.

Her ears perked slightly when he said the song he had been working on was a lullaby. That was actually something she hadn't expected and she turned toward the reaper as his hands began to work against his guitar to create the gentle tune. Her eyes got a somewhat distant look in them as he played, her eyes watching the way the strings vibrated when plucked. She hardly realized he stopped until he started cursing. Shaking her head she tilted her gaze nervously back toward his face. "It sounds lovely...what you have so far." Mitsu said softly.

"It makes you want to drift to sleep and not worry. I guess its fitting since...its the last thing they would hear." She had a mixed expression on her face but death left her with mixed feelings. It was a job and a way of life here in Halloween and not everything that died stayed dead. But sometimes....people didn't come back. "Does your lullaby have words?"

He looked a bit red at the neck, his embarrassment showing at the question. "Um... not exactly," he admitted. "But once in a while I add some. See, I would probably suck as a traditional grim," he admitted. "I mean... we're reapin' FEAR, right? You should scare them t'increase it--but--"

He shrugged as his fingers touched the strings again. "I figure dyin', when there's no comin' back, that's scary enough as it is, right? But... hey, maybe those souls that don't come here as ghosts, maybe they go somewhere else. Somewhere good. I ain't ever asked, y'know? This is about regular humans. Like the kids whose rooms we snuck into, or the old lady that the professor took us t'meet," he assured her. He firmly believed that not all humans were hunters. He'd seen them.

But he was feeling awkward, so to cover it up, he started playing again. This time his raspy voice sang along, a gentle crooning song about leaving it all behind.

Suddenly Roch looked embarrassed and Mitsu wasn't really sure what to do. Had it been something she said? "T..the song doesn't have to have words. Not all lullabies do." She fell silent as he explained his reasons and she couldn't really find fault with that.

"I think it's nice. I mean...I'm sure not all humans are....terrible. Some probably deserve better than to be frightened senseless in their final moments." She had her doubts but she remembered the old lady Roch spoke of that had been at the haunted house in the human world. It was a subtle reminder that not all humans were out to end them. Some actually wanted to help keep a balance.

She didn't say much else about it but she really felt that there was nothing wrong with what he was doing. Thinking about dying and not coming back, it sent shivers down Mitsu's spine, mostly because she knew what that fear was. The uncertainty of death.

Silently she stared at the piano lost in her own mind, her ears perking as Roch began to play again, this time singing along with it. She turned to him for a moment, listening to the tune. Leave it all behind? If only it was so easy to do, but feeling inspired Mitsu turned to the piano again, her fingers pressing against the clavier. She hesitated for only a moment her ears picking up the tune Roch was playing before she began to play along with him. It was a simply melody that seemed to fit with the guitar she felt.

And rather than interview her, or try and talk her into opening up to others, or try and FIX the problem, Roch sat there, softly playing music with her. It was relaxing, peaceful, even. Since the talk with Junko, he'd been reflecting on his thoughts.

There were good guys and bad guys in all of the groups. The only thing he knew, when it came down to, was that moments like this were not to be taken lightly. They were to be cherished.

He shot her a grin and changed the tune, something light and fun--seeing if she could follow.

This was not something Mitsu did often with others though she wasn't sure if Roch would understand. Music was something she mostly shared with Shun anymore but it was one more thing that was helping her break away from her sheltered existence. A part of her realized she couldn't hide away forever as much as she wanted to. Otherwise she would miss out on things like this. Sharing something special with a friend even if they weren't super close. It was still nice and did more comforting than a lot of words ever could.

Her ears twitched when Roch changed melodies and trying to keep pace Mitsu's songs shifted to something a little more upbeat as well. Her head tilted back just a bit as she continued to play, catching that grin playing across Roch's face. He seemed to be having fun. It made a ghost of a smile touch her lips before she focused back on playing taking charge and shifting the melody again to something more adventurous.

He almost laughed as she took the lead again--and started playing along. The game lasted until it started to get late and Shun came looking for Mitsu. And as Roch called his goodbyes to both of them, he grinned and headed for his room.

All in all, it'd been a good chat! Even though... well, not all that much was said.
