Alina ducked her cheek into the brush of his fingers, her smile softened so something a tad more shy, more affectionate. Alina kissed his forehead again before she pulled back, mood just as high as it had been. "I think Ista is where you said they were the loveliest and I'm quite inclined to believe you."
Despite having to jump between to get there, Ista did sound wonderful. There with really the only dragon she liked and the only man she (ever) loved, the one that looked at her as if she were the most beautiful woman in the world. That was nice.
"We were going to have a picnic," she said anyway, and sifted her fingers through his hair with another fond smile. Fingertips stroked at the back of his neck, contented and light, because she wanted really nothing else at that moment. "I'm afraid I didn't bring that either."

Bereck gave a soft little sigh with a soft little smile, just enjoying the light affectionate touch of her fingers in his hair and on his neck. "Oh well, we can pick something up before we go, or not. It doesn't really matter to me so long as you're there," he murmured in soft deep tones, turning his head to plant a brief kiss on Alina's hand. "A few of the journeymen and women under me got me some nice wine, so we can bring that... though you did just get out of bed; if you were planning to do something productive with your day later perhaps best not."

Sometimes she hated the fact he knew her so bloody well; Bereck knew what made her tick, how to make her smile or twitch or melt. The stupid voice he knew very well could do all three. Alina huffed instead of twitching at his unfair tactic, her fingers curled in for a small stroke of fingers to cheek. If they were going to play, she had no issue going by his rules.
The star smith leaned in close, her sandals shuffling on the ground so she stood only a finger width from him. A little dip had her lips brushing his ear and her hand sliding from neck and down his arm. Fingers wrapped around his palm, thumb pressing against the dip of his palm for a slow rub. "My plans for the day included pretty much only you," she murmured gently. "And anything with that is considered very productive in my book."

Bereck's breath hitched for a moment and a slight shiver ran through him as she moved closer and there were soft lips against his ear and her warm breath and her hand on his, caressing gently. For at least a few quickened heartbeats he wouldn't have minded giving Ista a miss and just dragging her into his weyr, which was foolish and not at all considered or mature of him.
Instead of doing anything quite that wildly impulsive he pressed against her, slid one arm around her waist and raised his other hand to cup her jaw. Caressing her cheek with his thumb he gently turned her face to him and lent up to kiss her again, this time with a deal more fire and passion.

Success! She had just enough time for that curl of triumph in the pit o her stomach before he took her in his arms as if they were twenty one turns younger again. Her arms wrapped around his shoulders to return the kiss, close and warm, lacking in the previous chaste softness previously.
"Picnic. Your choice. 'M good with either." she mumbled against the kiss, muffled and properly coherent; she was not about to drag herself back anytime soon unless he wanted to. Alina pressed closer despite the not-protest, kissing him again.

"Mmh," Bereck agreed eloquently; he wasn't in a particular rush to end the kiss either. He felt light somehow, as if the closeness and expression of feeling was lifting a weight off his shoulders; the weight of years, responsibilities, regrets, worries and pain. Eventually he had to break the kiss to breathe properly but he didn't break the embrace; he slid his other arm around Alina as well and nuzzled her neck. "Picnic," he agreed, "nothing fancy, shouldn't be hard to get the usual sort of thing. The kitchens might have some interesting leftovers from supper as well." Waste not want not, as the phrase went; it was certainly one to live by with Trine as over-crowded as it was.

Alina eyed the weyr from over Bereck's shoulder, head arched to the side with a low shiver. He'd not been the only one with ideas of dragging to the weyr and ideas brought on by the kiss and his lips against her neck, strong(er) arms around her. "Either way," she sighed, one hand rubbing at his neck slowly. "We should probably move away from where you sleep before I try to pull you into it, dearest."
She sighed, leaning close to him. "Should we send the firelizards for something?I can send one of my apprentices to get food, they've learned to understand Rukbat by now."

Alina's 'threat' got a soft deep chuckle, and earned her a kiss on her bare shoulder at the base of her neck. "You will just have to restrain yourself, my Star," Bereck murmured, lifting his chin so that he could look the taller master in the eye at such close range. Shards but he did love those eyes with all their subtle flecks and the intelligent light in them. Why had he ever let her walk away? He had been a fool, probably still was. He counted himself a very lucky one now.
"You could send him off with a note... and I could get what I need from inside?" he suggested after a few moments, still not really wanting to move away from her but he did need to get his flight gear, the wine and the big picnic blanket he had acquired shortly after initially planning the trip with Alina.

No matter what talks of weyr-dragging and passionate kissing said, even with the press of his lips and how her neck arched to allow, Alina wanted just to be with him. Let others jump to their own conclusions as to why she leaned and curled her fingers into his shirt; being near and warm with his arms around her mattered much more than any of their little teases. "I suppose." She said with a sigh. Alina leaned down to put her forehead to his, fingers still hooked in his shirt. "Damn propriety and sensibilities."
She kissed his forehead then, gentle, a brush of her lips. "I'll have him grab me the rarely used jacket. I remember what between feels like." A little shiver of distaste ran over her and she shook her head, kissing his lips in a peck before she stepped away. "Right. Let's do this, dear. Or else we will end up standing here and talking as we do."

"Mmmh," Bereck replied contentedly, opening his eyes as she stepped back and catching one of her hands for a brief squeeze. "You're right, of course, and do; I wouldn't want to take you between in that dress. Oh," the healer's impressive brows rose as a thought occurred to him, "and bring something to swim in. I have missed swimming in the sea since moving here, the lakes just aren't quite the same." Releasing Alina's hand and smiling slightly Bereck reclaimed his new cane and headed into his weyr. The cane's handle fitted into his hand perfectly, and it was exactly the right length. Bereck smiled a little wider and pushed open his door.

Alina watched him trundle off to his weyr, her expression fond and something in her chest constricting. They were much too old to be feeling like children again but there she was, staring at him with the sort of fondness that made her gag if she were to see it in anyone else. Alina waited until he was inside before summoning her rather stupid little Rukbat, him coming complete with paper and ink. The starcrafter scrawled out a note to her apprentice and sent him away. She started towards the quarters in order to meet the running girl halfway and ducked into one of the baths quickly. By the time she got back to Bereck, Alina had on her pants under the dress, socks under her sandals, and her rarely used jacket on.
And.. yes. She did attempt a sexy pose when she saw Bereck next. "How do I look? Dashing?"
Rukbat popped out of nowhere with a small basket, promptly flopping onto th ground with a squeak. He was not a faire of flits. He could not do these wild and crazy things. Still, he cheeped with pride as he sprawled on the basket. Yay! He won.

Cloth bag. Large blanket. Bottle of wine, two tough but rather attractive earthenware goblets. Towels, swimming shorts. Riding harness and jacket. What else? Was he forgetting something? Sanguine came to land on his shoulder and he gave the red firelizard a scratch as she settled down around his neck. Nothing else he could think of, and of course he could always send the flitts back. Shouldering the bag - it wasn't heavy - Bereck stepped outside again. Once the door was shut and locked he passed the key to Vena to put back inside.
It wasn't long before Alina returned, but she had taken enough time that Bereck was making checks of Berath's harness rather than still trying to get it on. Turning around he looked her up and down, a smile of fond amusement on his lips and an arm curled unconsciously around his side; the effort of getting the straps onto Berath had made the pain flare up somewhat.
"Very dashing, Alina," he chuckled with a nod, but before he could add more Rukbat appeared and flopped onto the ground with his burden. "I should have sent some of mine to help him," Bereck said with a small shake of his head. "He did a good job though, I'm impressed."

Alina preened under the laughing compliment, ignoring the fact it came from the fact she had on a few extra layers of clothing and all but demanded it from him. He stared at her before and complimented her and that, in her point of view, made all the other follow compliments true. Thick pants and jackets simply made her a prepared sort of dashing, not the kind that made men swoon and offer her their own coats. She'd never been the woman to make people flutter and croon over her.
"That's fine. He's all excited to finally be useful. Aren't you, silly?" She directed the question to Rukbat. The brown chirped, squeaked when she leaned down and snagged him up by the middle. After a moment of flailing, he clawed his way up that thick jacket and draped himself over her shoulders like a brown and slightly fat boa. The Starsmith grabbed the picnic basket instead. "I think I still remember how to climb aboard a Berath."
She stared at Berath for a long second before she scrambled up, Rukbat and picnic basket and all. Alina huffed as she tok her seat behind Bereck, face pressed close to him. "I get to latch on like a child again, right?"

Bereck had been about to speak when Alina started scrambling, but as she seemed to have it covered he closed his mouth again and waited for her to settle behind him. When she snuggled up close he turned his head to smirk at her. "Very impressive Alina, and yes you do. What I was about to say though is if you go around the other side of the dragon, there's a little rope ladder." The healer waved his hand at it for emphasis as Marrow swooped down to grab the end and lift it up to him, allowing him to roll the ladder up. The rolled ladder was then passed back to Marrow and Cap who lowered it against Berath's side, where Vena and Iris fastened a set of buckles to hold it in place.
"It makes it easier for me to get up and down," Bereck explained with a shrug, looking away again at the admission and trying to cover this by looking down at Berath's neck and giving her a fond pat. "Anyway, fasten yourself in will you? You should find some straps that will go around your waist; the flitts will hold the basket for you while you get sorted."

Alina tilted her head to peer at the rope ladder, her glasses askew and partially uncomfortable on the bridge of her nose and where it pressed to her eyebrow. It didn't mean she released his waist, though, just passed the basket to his faire of firelizards. "I rather like it. It'll make getting down way less complicated." she readjusted herself and pulled the straps around her waist, crossed them when proper; she'd not been on dragonback before but she remembered instructions some twenty years ago on how not to fall and die horrably between.
With some care, Alina scooted in closer to him so she could all but straddle the older rider. Her arms wound around his waist carefully (and Rukbat helping to secure the basket once she was sorted, if the others allowed it) and Alina pressed her face against Berecks neck with a pleased hum. "You are a very comfortable healer," She mumbled, uncaring if he could hear her or not. "And not bony anymore."
