Nebo chuckled, watching the boy's exasperation. "Okay, NERVOUS." He inclined his head, still grinning. "And what's to say, wanderin' out here on your own, you don't go gettin' hurt by buffalo or somethin', and end up on the plagued pride's doorstep ANYWAY? Lions who show up there like that ain't never left that I've seen. Or worse, you end up near the wrong pride and you get enslaved." He gave a passive shrug, then started walking away. "But if you don't wanna benefit from the voice of experience, and get yourself hurt and alone, so be it..."

The boy glared at the older lion. Nebo had made it clear that he knew a lot about a lot of places, and Nagua certainly didn't want to end up as a slave or something, but he was still sure that he wasn't supposed to travel with somebody.

Not to mention he most certainly didn't want to go with this weird-talking know-it-all lion.

"I'm not some helpless cub!" he snapped. "So if you want to be so helpful, just tell me which direction is away from the plague pride and slavery and all that bad stuff!"

"Suit yourself." He lifted a paw, pointing decidedly away from the plagued pride. "The diseased pride is that way. I don't know which prides keep slaves anymore, last I heard the Firekin ain't keen on it no more. Ya never know, but it's best not to take any chances. Steer clear'a the desert, all I can say about it." He then waved. "Good luck, kid." The brown lion turned, padding off away from the younger lion.

Nagua snorted at the older lion's retreating back and began heading in the opposite direction of where Nebo had indicated the plague pride to be. He wanted no part of such a place, name or no name.

But it was good advice, to steer clear of the desert. The boy had learned that "desert" meant "little water to be found" and if that was less water than was outside the swamps in general, it was definitely no place he wanted to find himself.
