Sometimes, Jordun would watch Idriss as play and think that she belonged to the forest more than she did to him, a spirit of the woods. On those days, he felt doubly grateful that she had chosen him instead, for though he would likely never take her on grand adventures to change the world, her presence in his life had changed his world plenty and more.
"She certainly inspires me," he agreed. And it would be exciting to see what a stranger saw in the little doe as well. A sword, he thought, one that he could see the next time he was in Palisade. A surprise.
"Inexplicably nice, having a brother, though it's been years since we last saw each other." They had been the best of friends growing up, and in hindsight Jordun had even been more than a little content to stay in his brother's impressive shadow as a child. "I live south of Oldcastle, and west. Several days' ride, but my father travels for business at times."

"They inspire us all...." Rosalie breathed, watching her still aloft in the snow, "I remember...Right after I got back from the Wardwood, just working on a commission for days on end only on inspiration. And...when it was finally complete, and I could rest, this tiny little fawn was looking right up at me." She laughed a little. "It's been so long since then...But he's grown up to be so lovely on his own." "Perhaps you should go visit when you have the time. When travel fares nicer." She nodded. "Though I'd be happy to carry on your commission and give word to him from you." At the mention of Oldcastle, and his father, she glanced up at him, eyes finally not on the two frolicking guardians. "I used to travel with my father...Once to Oldcastle, a very long time ago. I must have been....8? 9?" The smith laughed a little, "I didn't do too well with the trip. Only child, only my father. But I think I'll have to stop by and see it again one day. I hear it's very different from Palisade." She then did take a glance at the inn. "Do you think they still have a room open? I'll need somewhere to rest, since he's off spending the rest of his reserves."

"That they do," he had to agree. "I tried to carve something like a totem after I found hers. I could never get it right. And then one day, it didn't matter anymore because there she was, and no wood carving could have bested that."
He was watching the golden buck gamely trying to follow his little doe as she zipped from one spot to the next with hardly a moment's break in between. "He has a big heart, your Aelius. He hasn't given up yet." Though it was certainly as much a result of Rosalie's guidance as it was his nature. Guardians grew, but they didn't grow alone. At least not in mind and spirit.
"I'm sure he would appreciate that very much; Andrus always like surprises. Most likely because he was always better at reacting to them than I was." His brother had a way of approaching everything with an air of calm and confidence "But if you would, please tell him that I will be there to visit long before he ever has to use the sword in person."
His gaze followed Rosalie's to the inn, and he nodded. "They ought to. There aren't too many people traveling this time of year. My father frequents this inn on his travels; if you tell them you are working on commission from Lord Kinross, they might even avoid charging you exorbitant sums for everything."

"I managed to get it right, though of course the customer wasn't going to get their own guardian....Must have been someone familiar with what's going on though." She nodded. "I didn't know what to do until I saw the Wardwood. Inspiration comes in funny ways, doesn't it?" "Ah he does. Though he knows well enough to not bother me whilst the forge is roaring." She watched the two go through the snow as well. Certainly Idriss had enough guidance of her own as well. No doe would be that sweet and curious without a guardian much the same. "I doubt he will give up until he's too tired to do so. Though Idriss has the advantage, I think." "Of course. As long as you have an address for him, I shouldn't have much of a problem." She shifted her weight a little, holding up her pack. "I'm usually all over the city." "Oh good. Just somewhere to spend the night is all I need....Though I assume Aelius won't be allowed within." The buck stopped, looking rather forlorn at this notion. "Oh hush, you can stand being outside for a night or two...." At his offer for the 'discount', the woman gave an even larger smile. "Oh that would be lovely! I may have enough to pay for it, but to be able to save on it a bit..." Aelius made his way back over to the two chosen, and looked Jordun up and down, giving a slightly approving snort. Fine. Outside for one night. But if Idriss was around....He would be fine! A friend to spend the night with oh gosh oh gosh~. And so the buck was back to frolicking in joy.

"I don't believe I've ever seen her tired," Jordun said with a smile, in complete agreement that the little doe had an advantage over her companion. She could run and play all day and did, more often than not. Now that he thought about it, Idriss didn't have the same sort of boundaries and limitations; there weren't any situations in which she knew to leave him alone. But she had taken it upon herself to be his personal cheerleader, and cheer never slept.
"Thank you," he said sincerely. "I will write the address for you once we get inside. And the payment for the sword, of course."
He nodded again. It was always a luck of the draw when it came to inns. Some innkeepers were more crooked than others, although they all seemed, as a rule, to be quite talented at weaseling more money out of their customers than they ought. "I always think it a personal victory when I emerge from an inn with more money than I'd expected."
Idriss followed Aelius back to the two Chosen, and came right up to both to poke her nose into the palms of their hands in search of sweet treats. Though she found none, she hardly looked disappointed, and in a blink, was back to gamboling about.
"Don't wear him out overmuch, Driss," he cautioned as he turned toward the inn. "Unlike you, he still has a ways to travel."

"Oh really? What a whimsical creature, that Idriss." She gave another sigh. Usually Aelius was fairly calm, though there were times he couldn't stand to stay still and would prance about. Most of those involved cabin fever or seeing another guardian. He did sleep rather a lot though, especially with his favorite blanket in hand. "Ah, you don't need to pay too terribly much for it..." She almost felt bad at the prospect of taking his money. She had already been given free medication by another guardian, and karma was something Rosalie did hold the slightest belief in. "Plus you should emerge from the inn with more money than you expected correct?" The slightest mischievous smirk was on her face, though it faded back to friendliness as the two guardians returned. "Aww, sweetheart, I'm sorry..." Rosalie sighed, feeling terrible as she didn't have anything to give to the doe. Aelius, however, did not leave, and stared up at Jordun. It wasn't treats he was after though, just pets.

"Enjoying herself seems to be her biggest goal in life," Jordun said with a laugh. Whimsical the doe was indeed. She had a way of making anything seem laughable, no matter how serious it was, and took great pleasure in doing so. There was no sense in taking life so very seriously, she said.
"Oh, you wouldn't make a thief out me," he protested, reaching to rub the golden buck's forehead. If there was anything Jordun had learned from his father, it was that business was business and it was always best to stick to the book in such cases. Favors were a different matter entirely, but Jordun hardly considered a commission to be a favor. "It is always a personal goal of mine, but I would be happy to contribute to your cause as well."
"Don't worry about her," he added to reassure Rosalie when he heard her sigh. "She'll forget about it in a minute or two. Never lingers on anything, that one." And sure enough, Idriss looked plenty ready to return to play, standing with her fluffy tail waving happily.

"To enjoy oneself is one of the best goals I could possibly think of." Rosalie replied, watching the the doe in the snow. Perhaps the two were perfect, and she was sure that the whimsical, almost delicate nature of the doe would make a beautiful sword to gift to Jordun's brother. Aelius gave his best sigh at the patting. He really loved it, and nearly every person he met he demanded pats from. It was the most enjoyable thing out of life for him. That and making new friends. Speaking of which.....As Idriss returned, he nuzzled her, far too tired to play more. He felt extremely bad! But perhaps she'd like some grooming~? "If you're sure. Pay what you're comfortable with. I'm afraid I don't have any examples of my work on me, not at the moment. I wasn't planning on getting business while away." The pack was heavy enough without it. "But perhaps tomorrow morning I'll take a better look at miss Idriss. I think the two of us are tired enough." The smith was pleased to see the doe hadn't been too offended by her lack of treats, though perhaps she'd have to send some to make up for it. Lovely thing, that doe. With few words exchanged after, Rosalie went to rent her room and ease the cold out of her bones. Dreams, not calls, of the Wardwood filled her dreams and sketchbook, and indeed, it seemed like the commission would most definitely turn out well...
