He completely forgot what he was going to do. Spellbound, the tiny neko slowly lifted his front right paw and swung it at a cluster of long strands. Heskil wouldn't have to brush her hair with Akio around. If she allowed him, he could go on for five minutes before getting bored and realizing his original objective.
Akio traveled to a nearby very shallow snow pile that hadn't been touched yet. He tried to tell her what to do, but it came out as incoherent meows. It was best to show her. The red, gold, and white boy pounced on the blank slate. Unfortunately his paws had phased through the snow so his intended imprint wasn't made. He took a few steps back. A completely confused look appeared on his face. Again he tried jumping into the snow. This time it worked and he left messy, teeny paw prints. Satisfied with himself, Akio looked to Heskil expecting her to do the same thing he had just done.

Heskil smiled as the kitten pawed at the fine strands of her mane with his white-tipped paws; letting them drift into his paw and face as he occupied himself for a moment batting at them.
Of course, the little one had had something in mind; and, despite the way many kittens were easily distracted, he didn't appear to have forgotten. He wandered off to some untouched snow; a blank slate, so clean and clear and perfect. Heskil loved the sight of different paw prints in the snow, as well as the shoe prints left by humans who were too delicate to appreciate nature without their protective coverings. But more than that, she loved the sight of clean, clear, crisp and untouched snow.
The kitten seemed more interested in leaving his own prints than in savouring the clean absence of marks; after a failed attempt (where the unique abilities of kittens not yet fully materialised foiled him) he left a cluster of messy prints. When he looked at her, realisation set in.
"Oh! Did you want me to leave my prints, too?" She chuckled, giving him a bright smile before standing next to the snow. Somewhat clumsily due to her unusual build, she hopped forwards; her hooves landing in the snow with less grace than the gambolling kitten had left. Satisfied, she stepped back revealing two clean hoofprints from her front hooves; deeper than usual from her little jump. She looked over at him, still smiling.
"Is that what you were after, little one?"

It was probably best if he didn't make her do it again. After the older neko had revealed her own steps, Akio's golden eyes fixed on them. His gaze traveled back and forth between his prints and hers. One could tell that the kitten was registering the visual differences in his developing mind.
When he was done, Akio gave Heskil a great big smile, which was then interrupted by a great big yawn. Looks like playtime was coming to an end.

Heskil beamed at the youngster's laughter; she wasn't at all bothered by the differences in her body, or the difficulties it sometimes presented to her. She viewed those difficulties as balancing out the remarkable luck she was blessed with; and if those inconveniences managed to amuse a kitten, well, that was more than fine with her as well.
She watched him clearly pondering the differences between them; learning, processing, for a few moments before fatigue began to show itself. Heskil was hardly surprised; the kitten had had a couple of scares, done a lot of wandering, a little play, and had had his mind engaged by meeting someone new as well. She nudged at him gently with her nose.
"Is it time to head home? Do you know where that is now- or are you just going to fade into your figurine?" Either way, the kitten had had a good time, despite getting lost and stuck. That made Heskil happy as well, and it showed in her smile and the gleam in her visible eye.

•°o.O O.o°•°o.O O.o°•°o.O O.o°•°o.O O.o°•°o.O O.o°•°o.O O.o°• Akio didn't fully understand what Heskil was saying, but he did know about home. He looked around to get his bearings once more. Surprisingly enough they were only a few blocks away. The little kitten nudged the female, encouraging her to follow him.
After a short walk, they reached the stoop of an antique apartment building. Akio crawled up the stairs with a little bit of difficulty. Once he had reached the top, he turned around to face Heskil. A great big smile flashed across his face. It was his way of saying thanks for playing and saving him.
With all of that said and done, he trotted inside through a square hole cut in door, which was designed to let nekos in and out as they pleased. A few moments later, the young boy popped his head out as though he forgot something. He gritted his fangs and opened his mouth awkwardly over and over again. The sounds he was making were very hard to make out.

Heskil chuckled warmly and gently nudged in the kitten's direction before he ran up the stairs. She was glad to see he had found his way home; and beamed back as he grinned "goodbye" to her.
She took a step back as he slipped through the small door; curling her tail around her back leg and waiting for a moment to be sure he was in home and safe. As she was about to turn away, his red and white head poked back out and he opened his mouth.
Unclear as to what was going through his mind, Heskil stepped up the stairs and lowered herself to his level; front hooves a step below the top, her front ones a few below that. She rested her head on the ground just in front of his.
"What's wrong, little one?"

Now that Heskil moved closer, she could probably tell what he was saying. "Ack," he shook his head. That didn't sound right so he started over. "Aaah k eee O." Proudly he repeated himself, "aah key o."

"Ah key oh..." Heskil blinked slowly. "Akio...? Oh! Is that your name, little one? You're... Akio?"
Heskil smiled at the little one- Akio, not just 'the little one', she reminded herself. How sweet that he had wanted to come out here to tell her his name! Assuming that's what he was doing- but there was one way to be sure.
She gently leaned her head forwards, until she could get a better sense of the feelings radiating from him. Yes, he was trying to tell her his name! Akio. That was his name.
She pulled her head back again, her hair lying on the snow on the top step, and spoke clearly to try not to confuse him. "I'm... Heskil." She wasn't sure he would be able to say it- but perhaps he would remember it.

The kitten stared into her big green eyes as Heskil told him her name. A bit mesmerized, Akio slowly tried to repeat what she said. "Heeh ... Hesss k eee l."
His smile got even wider after his attempt. Deciding it was pronounced close enough, he rubbed up against Heskil as a sign of good bye before slipping back through the apartment building's cat door.
What an adventure the young boy had. He experienced snow and ventured out of his home for the very first time. While out, Akio met such a kind and unique Maneki Neko named Heskil. He enjoyed the time they spent together playing in the snow. Sometime in the near future, the little kitten hoped they could play longer.
