Jove yelped as he was scooped up, but his surprise was eclipsed by the sheer delight and it came out almost more like an uncharacteristic whoop. He was right, the wind blew back his fur and his ears, and even his little stubby legs, and the pup was the fastest fluffy thing in the sky~ The little ghost wrapped invisible tendrils around Ren's arms, and then up around his body, firmly clinging to his big brother while still enjoying the wind in his fur. This was the best feeling ever.
And as nice as it was to go flying with Ren... It would always be the best to fly with his brother, but he couldn't help but feel a little jealous he couldn't fly under his own power.

If there was one thing that made flying all that much better, it was flying with someone else - especially when that someone else happened to be one of Ren's favorite people in the world.
"You doing okay?" Ren shouted above the roar of the wind, ducking his head to smile brightly at the pup. "Flying is great, isn't it?"
He swooped higher, then down low again, weaving around a tall tree.

Jove nodded, the motion clearly visible with all his fur pushed back. He had such a tiny head in that form and it was easy to see when the fluff was streamlined, with his usually big eyes squinting and happy. He wanted to do this all the time, have nothing under his feet but air as they soared through the sky. He closed his eyes as the tree appeared, feeling giddy and excited. This was just like a game of scariokart, but in the air, up above all those little things down there... The ghostly tendrils tightened around Ren's arms, the way one would grip the bar of a roller coaster going down a hill. But he still seemed to be enjoying it, the pup's feet even wiggled a bit, as though he were trying to paddle through the air as they flew.

Ren's enormous wings gave another flap, wind sweeping through the feathers and jostling them a bit. He soared around another tree, feeling leaves brush at his face and finally landed again on a thick branch, near the top, twenty feet above the ground. He held the little puppy up, the wind blowing in their faces.
"Just look at that view, little brother!"

Jove did just that, opening his eyes and looking down at the scenery under them. It was pretty amazing, especially for one who was so small to begin with. Up here, it wasn't just him that was small. It was EVERYTHING, except the world itself. The pup sent more tendrils of ectoplasm from his little body, spreading them out like wings so he could feel the wind and pretend maybe he was still flying. And then... much like his first flight... he threw up.

It was probably a good thing that Ren was holding Jove away from him like Rafiki holding Simba. He laughed good naturedly, pulled a handkerchief from his pocket, and dabbed it at the corners of Jove's mouth.
"Good grief, little brother, be a bit more careful next time, will you?" he teased, but it was gentle.

Jove wiggled, tolerating the face-cleaning. It wasn't his fault, Ren flew so fast and so high, and he got so excited and his little ghostly stomach wound up like a spring. He waved his little paws around anyway, excited and hopeful. Do it again, let's go fly again, he wanted to say. He might throw up all over again, but it would be worth it...

"What, again?" said Ren, with a devilish grin to his face. "All right, if you're sure..."
And with that, he promptly threw Jove up in the air, then zoomed out and caught him before he fell too far, spiraling upwards into the bright sky, feeling the wind against his face.
Nothing beat flying. Nothing.

Jove barked one of those rare laughs, and spread his invisible fake-wings out as far as he could as he flew solo in his mostly-downward direction. But his brother caught him as usual. The closest he ever came to being dropped by the gryphon was when he tried to hop on Ren's back the very first time, and dumped himself onto his face in the process. The pup could be thrillingly excited by flying, but never truly frightened as long as his brother was there.

"So, Jove," said Ren conversationally, as he whipped over the school, flapping his wings once to gain more momentum. "Think you'll ever be able to fly with those little ghostly tendril things of yours?"

Jove's ears perked, and he whipped his head up to look at his brother. Could he even do that, use his tendrils to fly? Change his shape to have wings? It hadn't occurred to him before, but he could probably learn! Didn't his book, Physiology for the Practical Phantom, contain chapters on fins and feathers and wings? Suddenly he began to squirm, as though he wanted to be dropped right that second so he could go figure out how to make himself some wings. Except he was giving no thought to how painful it might be for even a fluffball such as himself to hit the ground from their current height.

"What?" asked Ren, feeling Jove squirm. But then after a moment, he realized what the boil wanted, and he swooped down to land easily on the grounds again, his feet hitting grass.
"All right," he said, setting his little brother down and then putting his hands on his hips. "Let's see you try!"

Jove shot his brother a suspicious look. Rome wasn't built in a day, nor would he just sprout wings and take off. He had a lot of hard studying ahead of him! The pup could only imagine how embarrassing it would have been for Ren to see his earliest attempts at true shapechanging, even that one time his brother stumbled in on his practicing had been when he could at least hold the correct shape. But the thought of growing wings did appeal to him... Suddenly his ears perked. Why use a book when he had a living model right in front of him? He trotted around to Ren's back, and reached up with his tendrils to start feeling his brother's wings.

"What?" said Ren innocently. "I'm saying nothing, ok, I'm being a supportive big brother, like I always am."
Sparkle sparkle.
"What are you doing to my wings?"
