Amadia’s magic had grown. She could feel it pulsing inside of her and she had been practicing whenever she had free time. Lately, though, things had been so busy all she had time to do was follow behind Kilian and Erionda as they prepared for their move. Soon, they would be leaving Eowyn and heading to Aisko. A frozen land that was as foreign to Amadia as the Celestial Plane was. Amadia took a deep breath as she gazed out over the sand dunes, the desert sun beating down onto her scales. The warmth invaded her body and unlike her other companions, she didn’t mind it in the least. The kiandri blood running through her was probably to thank.

As she thought of Aisko, she wondered how her magic would function in a place that was essentially nothing but water, in one form or another. Would it be useless? Amplified? The same as here on Eowyn? She wasn’t sure and knew that she would, likely, not find out until they stepped foot on the icy continent. With a heavy sigh, Amadia tore off over the sand, anxious to get in at least one more practice session before leaving the desert for their new home.

When she arrived at her preferred training spot, Amadia plopped her scaled butt down into the sand and closed her eyes. For the longest time she sat there, absorbing the warmth from the sun and just breathing, concentrating. A deep breath in. A long exhale. She did this several times as she felt the magic inside her build up. Over the years she had learned so much about the magescians that inhabited this world with them. She let all that knowledge flow through her, fuel her magic. She let her frustrations with the war wash over her, again, fueling her magic.

Finally, the build of power inside her was too much. Her eyes flew open and she crouched down, butt in the air. Concentrating, on a close by boulder, she let her magic rip loose from inside her. A sharp crack could be heard through the desert as her lightning magic made contact with the rock, sending pebbles flying through the air and leaving a sizable hole in the large rock. The energy of her magic crackled over her skin as she let loose another bolt of lightning, this time targeting a much smaller rock farther away from the boulder. As her magic hit this rock, it exploded, shattering into many tiny pieces and scattering over the sandy, desert ground.

Amadia straightened up, satisfied with how well she could now control her magic. She remembered the first time she had tried using it. Things had not been going well when she’d run into an older, blind drakein. He had helped her learn to concentrate. Had taught her that moving around, as she had been doing, wasn’t exactly the best way to hone her magic. She had come a long way with her magic and was very proud of herself. Despite it not being as strong as her wild brethren, she wouldn’t trade her life for anything. Targeting more rocks, Amadia continued to practice until the sun began to set. She practiced moving while shooting off her lightning, something new to her. She lept into the air, several times, trying to glide while casting magic as well. Finally, exhausted and ready to head home, Amadia sat for a minute, letting the last of the warm sun wash over her before bounding back to her home and her family.
