"You may need to put your number into my phone as well." Angeline suggested once the phone was no longer on the floor like 'AHEM, WAT R U DOIN'. "As I am very..bad with the keys." In fact, if one were to actually look at the keypad of her phone, the buttons were practically taped over except for the 'Power' button and the 'Answer' button.
It appeared Angeline didn't make calls at all.
"I know my number, at least. It's 666-773-7554." she rattled off, having been made to memorize it just in case she lost her phone (oh Jack, that would have been awful). "Even a little bit of notice is better than none for me."

"I can do that!" Terra said, sitting down and getting out her phone as well. "There! Now you just need to push the button furthest on the right on the first row underneath the power button and it will call me!" she said, putting the phone back in Angeline's hands. "It will be much easier this way! If you have any other numbers you need to get to quickly I can add them, as well! I like playing with phones," she said seriously as she typed in Angeline's phone number into her own. "Senor Frost showed me the basics, but he is a ghost wolf and has very powerful claws so he keeps breaking his phones," she added with amusement.

"Frost? I have not met anybody by that name." Angeline mused as she felt the buttons of her phone, pressing down on one to see what that did. A moment...then nothing. Not that one....
She'd sit there for a few minutes pressing keys and trying to see what was what before the phone started ringing and a voice she didn't know picked up. "SORRY!" she suddenly blurted before hitting the 'End Call' button and turning rather red.
"Oops." she smiled a bit then laughed. "Under the power button, you said?" she looked for a moment before she pressed down on that button, causing the speed dial to go off. "Oh hey..it's ringing.." After a moment, she quickly hit the End Call again.
"Mom and Dad's speed dials are already set so...I'm alright, but thank you ah-...um..."
AWKWARD
"What was your name again?"

Terra burst into laughter. "Oh, forgive me!" she said, giggling. "Here I am dragging you around and playing with your phone, and we hardly know each other! I am very rude!" she announced, but she sounded amused. "I am Terra. Terra Bethel Scythe! I am from a small town called Los Muertos, I have blonde hair and silver eyes and I am a grim reaper. My weapon is a violin, which I have been playing since I was almost ten--although since I am fourteen it is not very long. I came here--" She hesitated, thinking about that one. "A few weeks ago," she finished a bit lamely. "To be with... familia. Family. Mi hermano--my brother, he lives in the room across from mine."

Angeline listened, trying to put the information to memory - having actually a vague concept of colors that lingered on after years of blindness. She had seen the colors of the world once - though her memories would always be of those specific ones.
"It's very nice to meet you, Terra." Angeline bowed her head slightly. "I am Angeline Nielson, Clockwork Reaper and..." she thought for a moment. "I have a scythe for a weapon that ticks and... I'm Seventeen years old and I've been here...mmm... about a month or so? I'm here because my mother is...worried...about having a child tied to her apron sash."

"But if she has tied a scareling to her apron I do not see what it has to do with you," Terra said blankly. "Does the scareling get too tangled?" she asked. "I'm sure it can be quite uncomfortable--those strings on the apron, they are not very long. And cooking might be more difficult with a scareling right there--" Clearly she was picturing a reaper female with some waif off the streets entangled in her apron strings--Angeline's mother had very strange hobbies.

Angeline laughed.
"It is a turn of phrase. To have a scareling tied to one's apron strings refers to a mother having complete control over the life and doings of their child. Like puppet strings, only attached to the mother, yes?" She quickly had to add - "Not that my mother has ever tried to control me, but I...ah....haven't asserted much.....enthusiasm of my own to leave home." She shrugged. "So I'm here."

"It is difficult, si," Terra said quietly, going serious. "I am... I was, I should say, very much alone when mi madre... passed on," she said slowly. It seemed to be something hard to talk about. "I am offered many places, homes, but I do not wish to take them--they have even less than mi madre and I have. So I do not know what to do..." Somehow her accent had gotten a little stronger, and the way she phrased things was in the present tense, although clearly she was talking about the past. "I wish to stay with madre. I never think of leaving until--until she is gone. But then--" She smiled, her eyes and tone lightening up. "Then I hear that mi padre--he is alive. Mi padre, I do not like very much, but he comes with more familia, and them I like! So I stay here!"

Her expression strained a little bit - sympathy. "Well. If you ever feel a need to walk down memory lane in a bit more.....depth...let me know. I have my mother's ways in that sort of thing." she was purposely vague about just what those 'ways' were, however.
"I...will have to see how my stay here goes. I admit I'm struggling a little bit with some things, but...." What could she do about that besides persevere through them?

Terra reached out, taking Angeline's hand. "Change, it is hard," she said. "Painful, too. But you will learn the way around! And I will--I will grow. And not forget. Oh!" she said letting go. "I need to start the next dish. But I will still talk while cooking!" she promised, getting to her feet and heading for the counters again to get to work. "Do you like music, senorita Angeline?" Terra asked.

She squeezed the hand she was given. "Some things are better forgotten, though." Angeline assured. "For example, I do not remember how I lost my eyesight. I did see colors and shapes once, so...I am not completely dark to the world." Not that she saw anything now - how did the world look when there was nothing to go off of? There were many things that Angeline visualized based on sharp and smooth shapes.
Again, her head followed the sound of Terra's feet moving about. "I enjoy it greatly. I don't even think I could name a favorite kind, they're all quite nice in their own ways."

"Then we will have music after dinner!" Terra declared as she set the rice cooker to cooking. She went to work on the sauces next, mixing them together with quick, happy movements. "Do you play an instrument? Or sing?" she asked. "You do not need to see the music to learn to play it!"

Angeline shook her head vigorously, her hair-clip almost flying right out of her hair as she did so. "I'm afraid I don't have the dexterity in my fingers to play anything too complicated and the only singing I have done was in mimicry of my mother - she's quite talented, but I am also very biased." she laughed a little bit.

"Ah, but it is so much fun!" Terra said--she was obviously biased. "It is a wonderful thing, creating music! But it is good to listen to it, as well," she said, flushing as she realized she sounded a bit demanding... (sort of.) "It turns out that music runs in my family," she said. "Mi Madre, she did not play either--I had to learn from the mariachi band violinist--but this side of the family, they play!"

Angeline listened to Terra's story about her family and love of music with fascination. "My family is more inclined to tell stories, I think. Though I'm not sure if we really have any 'skills' that run in the family." A small laugh.
"If you have anything you'd like me to listen to, I'd be happy to hear. I do like to listen a lot."Ice Queen WTF, I thought I replied to this already....
