She paused for several seconds in order to drag a few more levels of mental faculties back into the real world. "The end of reanimation is not the same as death." Yes. That sounded right. The result might be the same, but the technicalities were different.
Then, she considered how best to answer the question posed to her. She was many things, but she supposed that there was one answer that fit this particular conversation better than the rest. "I am Death's daughter."

"They're the same to me. Death is the end of life. The end of reanimation is the end to undeath or relife or whatever you want to call it. Death's daughter? Well, that explained the skull face. It didn't explain the almost dreamy dazed attitude, though. Maybe that was from the other parent. "I didn't know that Death had a daughter. Or could have children, for that matter. Gotta name, daughter of Death, or should I just call you Skull Face?"

"They are fundamentally different," she said and the frown that her face could not show carried through into her voice. "But perhaps you cannot understand." If it came off as perhaps a little condescending, then it was not entirely intentional. With the mare's last question, however, Attie returned fully to herself, and was perhaps a little insulted at the nickname. "I am Atropos. And what should I call you if not Walking Puppet?"

"Why? Because it's a mountain and it's night. When you have zombie ooze coming out of your stitched limbs, being out of broad daylight and away from the masses is generally a good way to avoid people staring at you, screaming, and running away." Runa lifted her gaze to Atropos. "That, and I just like mountains. Don't know why, but there's something satisfying about getting these old bones up one. Great place for stargazing too. I think it'd be hard to give me a reason of why I shouldn't be on a mountain."
