Zuri nodded to herself before she made her way over there, sitting down besides the fire. She found herself playing with with her hands nervously and stopped herself. She didn't have any reason to be nervous, and neither did he though she knew there was no way she would convince him of that. He could barely even look at her. Poor Biroki.

She giggled. "Hello again." she said with a smile. When he asked if someone had told her about the lake she shook her head. "This lake? No I found it a while ago, I've come here once or twice but this is the first time I wasn't alone. Normally no one is here at night." Part of her felt this was her lake, but he had been around it much longer then she had.

"I heard you have a patient living with you?" she hadn't heard much more then that but she figured it was something that would make him less nervous to talk about, hopefully.

((Yep))

"Oh... W-well..." He guessed that he'd just somehow visited on nights when she wasn't there.
He wasn't sure of that was lucky or not.
"S-s-sometimes theres other p-people here... It... Its a big lake so... uh..." he poked the fire frantically, crossing his legs nervously. He was close to fiddling with his feet, even. "uh, so... Uh... n-normally I dont run... into... anybody here."
He started sorting out the herbs for the tea- his normal soothing blend would do... although... he had a lovely handful of flowers he had found.
They smelled nice...
He nibbled on one, glancing at Zuri nervously.
They tasted nice too.
He added them to the mixture and set the tea to steeping.
"... Yes... Sh-she's..." his voice caught, "She's... become a r-rumor around the village, ha-hasn't she..."
She.
His mother. Odd words that he hadn't thought about in so long.
"It... it's been weeks... she... she can barely move..." Biroki stirred the tea somewhat. It wasn't ready yet, but already it was starting to smell good, "S-still has a f-fever..."
He felt lost when he talked about his mother. His mentor's 'patient'. Odd. Surreal.
"But... she's... she's better. Than she was. Before..."
Anything would have been better than the half-dead husk that was brought into Reshel's hut.
He felt, suddenly, naked in a way that had nothing to do with the bath, the water, or the fact that he was wearing Zuri's pants. He managed to look up at her, meeting her gaze before thoughts about how interesting it would be if that shirt would ride up just a bit further forced him to lower his gaze away in shame.
How could he have such thoughts, during a conversation like this?!
The tea was almost ready, and he distracted himself with finding some cups.
It was a good thing he had his usual bag with him. He didn't know what he would do if he had forgotten the cups... you can't drink tea with your hands...
"She'll be f-fine..." he said, quietly, sorting through his bag.

Zuri nodded, yes the lake was rather big, but she had never noticed anyone else at the lake. But because it was so big she could never be sure. Oh dear the thought of people being there while she swam naked did more then just startle her. He was one thing, but others! No that just wouldn't do. But when he said he normally didn't run into people she nodded, maybe no one had seen her. That was a relief.

She watched as he made the tea. It was yummie, that she knew from the times he offered it to her, this one smelled nice already. When he started talking about the women he seemed kind of nervous. Maybe it wasn't the best change of subject. "Is she talking? she asked curiously. He seemed to be having trouble finding the cups, so she put her hands in the bag to help him, their hands touching more then once and a blush creeping on his face. It was innocent touching of hands, but at the same time it wasn't.

Biroki stopped, like a statue as her hand accidentally touched his. It had felt... shocking. Like jumping into a deep part of the lake while still dry. In a comforting way.
"Talking... no... She.. she barely wakes up enough to take food and water. I.. I don't think she knows who I am... I don't think she can..."
Talking about Sen'oda... thinking about her... was... painful.
Slowly, deliberately, he touched her hand again, then drew away, giving her a sad smile. It was a rare, not-shy moment for him.

The moment didn't last long... he quickly blushed and shrunk back a little.
"s...sorry... I... uh..."
What the hell did he just do? He wasn't even wearing his own pants!
He spotted his cups and, with the speed of the incredibly nervous, grabbed them.
"H-here... Its just... I..."
He handed her one while he checked on the tea.
"I... I think... She'll be okay..."
It was ready to pour, and he did so.
He breathed in the florally aromatic steam from his cup.
"I... Mean... I.. hope so... anyway..."

Zuri smiled at him. His moment of bravery, at least for him it was bravery, she wondered if she could make it last longer next time. When he talked about Sen'oda she could hear the pain in his voice, yes it was a very sore subject for him.

Watching him shrink away and finally find the cups she smiled and when he handed her the cup she made sure their hands brushed against each other again. On one side it was fun making his nervous, but she also liked the feeling of his hand and hers. "Well I think she will be okay. With both you and your mentor taking care of her I feel as if she will be better in no time. She just has to break that fever of hers." Her father couldn't break his fever and although that wasn't the only sickness that killed him it was part of it. She could still remember his fevered words, telling of her mother. No, she hoped that Sen'oda would get better soon and not suffer the same fate.

Yawning Zuri smiled as she scooted closer to Biroki. She took a sip of the tea. "it's getting cold, thankfully I have this tea. It's wonderful as always." she complimented.

As their hands brushed again, Biroki looked back at her, startled. She... wasn't upset? That had been intentional.
He felt somewhat reassured by the look in her eyes. Zuri was such a nice person...
He drank some tea, though it was scaldingly hot.
It was odd how comfortable he felt, despite the situation. The tea helped.
"Yeah..."
He wanted to try something. Discretely, quietly, he moved his hand out, towards her.
"She's... it's..." it was hard to focus on what he wanted to say, when he was actually trying to do something that made him very nervous. His hand quested for hers, and his fingers touched her hand lightly before stopping, unsure. He liked how her hands felt, too.
"She... She'll be okay..." he repeated again. This time, he managed the willpower to stroke his finger gently on her hand.
If she didn't want him to... he could... maybe... say it was an accident...
Right.
Like she would believe that.
He gave her a shy, shaky smile... and hoped she wouldn't mind.

Zuri smiled at Biroki and watched him as he drank his tea. She liked it hot, and since he was already drinking it it made sense that he would like it hot as well. When he started moving his hand she smiled secretly to himself. He was being brave, and she really liked that. When he stroked her hand smiled smiled and moved her hands towards him, playing with it. His hand felt good in hers, and she was happy that he was not only allowing her to play with his hand but encoring it. She was blushing and honestly didn't know what to say. She moved a little closer to him, looking away as if she was hoping he wouldn't notice that she was moving closer. She looked back at him with a flirty smile and leaned in towards him.

He honestly couldn't believe he was doing this. She clearly didn't mind... so he played with her hand, interlacing their fingers together. He pretended not to notice that she had moved closer, though he was very, very aware of it.
He held her hand for a while, drinking his tea in silence as he looked out over the lake. It was beautiful from the shoreline rocks- a flat mirror of liquid silver and, in the jungle-shaded shallows, shimmering planes of mysterious darkness, the sort of surface that promised a thousand secrets to any who dared to break it's placid, dark surface.
And then failed to deliver anything more than laughing ripples, mirthful at the fool who had believed it's lies...

They were close... he could feel the warmth from the skin of her arm on his, an electric sort of attraction between them.
He shuffled a little closer. The Electricity between them made his heart race so much that it was almost painful.

Biroki closed his eyes and tried to relax a bit more. It was nice. It was so nice!
He felt like he was going to screw it up somehow. The moment.

But he also felt that the scene was too... perfect... for him to not do something. The inner poet... well, the poet he was... couldn't let him waste this perfect night, this perfect(ly awkward) situation....

"Zuri..." Miracle of miracles... he didn't stammer. He turned to her, eyes closed- he was too scared to open them. "I... I... Th-th-theres b-been s-something I... I've been wa-wanting to tell you f-f..."
Ah. He had been grateful too soon. There it was the stammering. The obnoxious vocal curse that had followed him throughout his life. He opened his eyes nervously and somewhat fearfully. He still held her hand. Both of their hands were still at least slightly damp from the lake water. It felt like a bond, the water, bringing them closer together...
"T-t... t... to tell you... uh..." It felt like the words were building up in his head, not flowing out onto his tongue like words were supposed to. His thoughts were whirling, but everything else felt sluggish.
"S-...something... S... since the day we... m-met..."
This wasn't going well...
"I... I..." He licked his lips and, with some serious force of will, tried to drag out the words he wanted to say...
"EversincethedayImetyouI'vewantedtosaythatyouareveryprettyandIlikeyoualot" once he started, it was like un-blocking a river. It all came out at once. The fire flared a bit as he talked quickly and nervously.
"andIwantntobewithyouandithinkiloveyoubecausewheneverIthinkofyouismileandshiverand...and..."
did there need to be an and? He paused to catch his breath.
"Uh..." he wasn't sure if there was any more. Oh wait. There was. It all flowed through in a rush, his thoughts processing slower than his words.
"Imeanifyoudon'tfeelthesamewayIunderstandand... and...uh..." the flow slowed.
Strangely, he was breathing easier.
"But... uh... Do... d-do... you like me... Zuri?"

Zuri couldn't help but smile as he played with her hands, intertwining their fingers together. This was the most at home she had felt since coming to to Jahuar, by Biroki's side she felt that this was where she belonged. This was her new home. For a while the two of them just sat like that, fingers intertwined as they drank their tea and looked out into the abyss. Normally Zuri was pretty chatty but this was a moment she thought needed words. This was a moment she just wanted to absorb into her very being and never forget about.

When he shuffled a little closer she did the same, till her back was almost against his chest and she leaned her head a little back on his shoulder. This whole thing was new to her, she had never felt like this about anyone, but then again from the second she had met Biroki she knew this would happen eventually.

When someone broke the silence it was Biroki to her surprise. And her said her name without a stammer. That was a good sign, though him turning to look at her with eyes closed she wasn't all that sure about... That could be a good sign or a bad sign. When he said she had something he wanted to talk to her about she nodded. At first it was his normal stammering, something she had grown to think of as cute, but then everything kind of rushed out as once. If she wasn't use to talking so fast all at once herself then she would have had no clue what he was saying. She waited for him to open his eyes, if she was going to answer him she wanted him to see her do it.

When he didn't she rolled her eyes before moving in to kiss him. It wasn't the short kiss on the cheek that she had given him once before, no sir this was a real kiss. When she pulled back she smiled looking at him. "Does that answer your question?" She asked with a smile. "Ever since I met you Biroki I've had feelings for you. When we had that little tea party and you were talking to that other mage I was even getting jealous since she shared something with you that I never could." she admitted looking away shyly. She was ashamed of her jealousy but she felt like it was something she should tell him anyways.

When she leaned close to him, he was very aware of his own heartbeat reverberating back from her very... close... form.
It was a unique feeling.
When he had managed to say all that he had wanted to say, he felt... somewhat drained. Tired. And scared. He didn't even have the energy to catch his breath properly.

And then she pulled him in for a kiss.
At first, he was surprised at the.. suddeness... of it, and the anticipation finally breaking... he squeaked in surprise and tried to fix the positioning of his mouth. He felt... suddenly charged. The fire blazed a lot higher than it's kindling should have let it and his hand twitched, letting out a stream of sparks over the lake.

Then a surprising thing happened... he relaxed a bit. His heart rate dropped. The fire returned to normal. It felt... nice. Like something that was supposed to happen.
As she pulled away, he stared at her for a long moment, a childish, foolish smile growing on his face.
"Yes" he said quietly.

He just... had to take her in. Everything about her. Right now.
She really liked him too!
That..
He...
Hadn't been expecting that.

Wait...
What was she talking about?
"J..." he stopped for a moment, licking his lips. He was so close, and yet now... he wasn't actually nervous. Wonder of wonders.
"Jealous... really?"
He had never thought of anybody ever being jealous because of... or about... him...

She nodded shamefully. "I know, it was very childish of me, but I couldn't help but be jealous of her. I felt like you would like her more then me because she could do magic and I couldn't." she looked up at him with a puppy look. "Will you forgive my moment of jealousy, my dearest Biroki?" she pleaded with a smile.

She remembered the heat of the fire when they kissed, it had burned brighter then before though that wasn't the only surprising thing that happened. Then there were the beautiful sparks that had sprouted from his fingers at the very same time. "Well if kissing you means such a lovely fire show then I think I shall be kissing you more often." she teased him as she kissed his nose. Now that she had already kissed she didn't really want to stop. She cuddled into him more.

She was at peace yet excited at the very same time. He made her excited, especially since he told he felt the same as she did, but at the same time she felt peaceful curled up next to him. She almost forgot her tea, which she took a sip of with a smile.

"But she isn't you!" he blurted out, more than a little puzzled. Aminah was a mage, and a very nice young woman, and pretty.
But she wasn't Zuri and he definitely didn't feel the same way about her!
"You... you're Zuri. You're special to me. You... You always will be."
The brush of her lips on his nose was like the feathering of ripples in the lake in the rain: beautiful and soft, but far- reaching.
"That... that wasn't intentional... The sparks" he said, embarrassed.
And then- to his own surprise, he leaned in to kiss her himself.
He was calm. He was relaxed. He didn't spark.
He drew away, though not far, his hand on her cheek. He didn't want to break the connection, not now that he knew that he was allowed to touch her.
"A... are you..." he smiled, meekly and somewhat mischeviously, "Dissappointed?"

She blushed. "Well now that you've told me I know that, but at the time I didn't." she said with a light laugh. It was nice to be reassured, to be told that she was special to him and that she would always be. She wondered if this was the way her mother had felt for her father? Or were these kind of feeling reserved for her husband.

When he said the sparks weren't intentional she was about to reply that she figured that when he kissed her. It was surprising and very unlike him, but then again just about everything he had been doing that night was surprising her. And in the best way possible.

She smiled at him with a mischievous look to her eye. Was he flirting? Teasing her? This was new and something she could get use to. "Hum, well the fire show was missed..." she said as pretended to be thinking. "Buttttt, even so I must say I am not disappointed in the least." she kissed him again, laughing as she did so. It was all so exciting and made her want to laugh, smile, joke and kiss him all at once.

He laughed, one of those rare sounds, made even more rare in that it was light and free. Not nervous at all. It echoed over the lake, a clear noise to add to the night sounds of Jahuar.
He felt absolutely wonderful.
He pulled her closer against him, nuzzling her neck.
"Thats... good then."
It felt odd. It felt very unusual.
It seemed the right thing to do in this situation.

Wait.
Wait wait wait.
Did this mean... He had a girlfriend.

Normally, such a revelation would have had him pushing her away and turning a bright red, shaking with stammers and apologies.

But tonight was special.
Zuri was special. She felt very warm, not uncomfortably so. He could hold her
all night. He could kiss her all night. He could snuggle her all night.

Speaking of, he kissed her neck lightly.

He just... Couldn't... feel nervous right now.
"Do you..." what was this emotion he was putting into his voice.
Whoa. Was he... Flirting?!
Was this was flirting was???
"Want me to give you a be-belated one? A light show?"
He extended one of his hands in front of them, palm up, feeling stupidly proud, and a bit excited.

A his laugh, one that although she was sure she had heard before she had never heard so carefree. It was if all his nerves were gone. As he nuzzled her neck she moved to be as close to him as possible, she had been wanting this for a while, and now that it was happening she wasn't going to waste even a moment.

She wondered what this meant for the two of them. Were they a couple now? How did that work, she never had a mother to tell her how things worked in a relationship so she was just going to have to wing it. She was pretty sure he was new to this as well, so they would have to learn as time passed.

When he offered a light show she looked up, nodding eagerly. It wasn't every day that she was offered such a spectacular show, and it would make the moment even more magical. "I'm really glad you feel the same way Biroki. It would have been really embarrassing if I told you how I felt and you didn't feel the same way. I would have run back to Zena to hide my sadness." she said with a light laugh.
