"I do not think so, I have yet to see a rat..." She shifted away from him not wanting to get up but wanting to check just in case, though it certainly had been more then the tickle of stray grass. The quick check confirmed there was nothing in the area of their little sleeping place, had she perhaps missed it? No it had felt like a hoove poking her in the stomach. Looking back to him her face was a picture of pure perplexity, she had no idea, mysterious poking, queasiness... lack of appetite recently.... something was niggling at her brain like she was being completely dumb and missing something here.

They both looked to see if that was something under her and when there wasn't...he swallowed uncomfortably. He wondered how she'd react if what he feared was indeed the case. If she'd be angry or if she'd merely agree that sometimes love had consequences. Consequences that hadn't occurred to him at the time. But she was so damn pretty and he loved her so damn much. It wasn't like he could help himself. "Dearling, may I listen to and touch your stomach?" He was watching her stomach anyway, he feared she had indeed been kicked, from the inside.

With a tilt of her head she became more confused which at this point she figured wasn't even possible. But it was clear that he had an idea or a some kind of grasp on what was wrong with her, she'd not yet said no to him why start now?
"Of course love..." she trailed off as she peered down to her stomach, silly mare she'd seen plenty of siblings born, how was she so oblivious to these symptoms?

He nodded and wiggled over to her, setting his head on her stomach and hoof beside his head. He waited to see if he could hear or feel anything. He prodded at her for a few minuets until something appeared to kick him in the face as if upset that it was being disturbed. He pulled his head away with a look of astonishment, they were both foolish for not having put together the signs earlier. He'd known this could happen, he hoped it wasn't a bad thing. They really were such a new couple, he hoped she wouldn't be mad at him. "Peren, you're pregnant."

Letting out a "Oof" when she felt another kick she blinked down at him, two kicks with mysterious origins wait... Then he said it and though for a second she felt overwhelmed and froze she proceeded instantly to relax. Relaxed so much she started laughing, laughing with relief, joy and sheer disbelief that after weeks they were just figuring it out. Really she'd known this could happen yet it had never entered her mind, she hadn't worried nor considered it actually ever happening.
But then she hadn't ever considered what having a mate would be like, only that it happened and that was that. After all her mental turmoil not only over the past number of weeks about her condition but a lifetime of confusion about love and relationships she finally felt at ease. Peren had a mate, and he was amazing to her and in general and then well even she knew what could and usually did happen, though she had been perplexed about the details. She was pregnant, and Charger was her sire and not only was her stomach a flutter but so was her heart.
"Oh Charger!" She wanted to shout for joy, not even thinking for a second that he may not be happy about it, they loved each other! Curling her form around her she then sat quietly and let him listen if he had wanted to "What do they sound like?" The mare assumed the they, many of her relatives had had foals and she couldn't recall ever hearing of just one.

When she froze he froze and then she started to laugh and he wined and his ears laid back on his head. This was not funny. They'd done this together and now was not the time to get hysterical...
...but she didn't appear to be hysterical. She appeared...happy! He heaved a sigh of relief. She wasn't mad at him that she was pregnant so early in their relationship. She wanted them and she still wanted him. He felt his muzzle curve into a smile. A dad! He was going to be a father!
"I don't know, one of them kicked me before I could hear. You're happy? We're having babies." He was still a little worried but he was also happy now. Babies, their babies, their little foals. Plural.

"Of course, Charger I love you! Are you not happy?" She flicked her tail and tried to get closer by lowering her wing to stroke whatever part of his body it could reach. The love was the most important thing for her, love knew no bounds right? Growing up with the confusion about her mother and fathers relationship then her father taking a mate that wasn't her mother had left her naive and innocent about these things. Peren didn't know if this was early or not the usual, all she knew was they had the essentials and their foals would want for nothing! "They already have your spirit then." Smiling at him she leaned down to nuzzle, finally feeling that her weaknesses had a purpose, clarity about the world washing over her.

"I'm..." He thought about it for a minuet. How did it make him feel? "I am happy." He nodded, he was happy because she was happy. He was nervous and worried but if she was excited they were coming then there wasn't any way reason he shouldn't be. "I've never been a father before. I'm worried and I was worried you would think it was too soon. We've been together only a matter of months. But I love you. I can't imagine not loving them just as must." He shifted and leaned over to rest his head on the tummy she revealed. "I hope they have their mothers eyes."

"Good then we need not worry, they will be the most loved foals! Though you will be shocked to hear I too have never been a father... uh... mother." She giggled, she hadn't meant to say it but her hormones must of kicked in making her say silly thing even if she didn't want to. As he leaned down she got into a comfortable position and had a feeling she wouldn't be doing much moving before sleep kicked in again. But now they knew the cause she didn't feel like a burden and could rest in the knowledge that she was growing their foals inside her... and that deserved rest when needed.

He raised a brow at her and chuckled with her. "Less shocked that you think dear. If you'd have had foals before you would have known what was going on." He shifted to nuzzle her belly and then up her rib cage. "Besides, I figured you would have told me about of any other children and you did not." He continued to shift so he could nuzzle up to then nibble at her neck. "I want all your foals to be part mine. How many do you want Peren?" In the back of his head he realized he was trying to seduce his pregnant mate. He hoped she'd always drive him crazy. But she appeared to want to sleep so he'd let her. He wrapped his neck around hers and cuddled her close to his body. "You can rest honey. I'll watch over you and ours."

"True" She agreed she would of told him, she'd told him most of her history so far hadn't she? Well not all of it but not on purpose some things just hadn't come up and they had a lifetime to learn everything. Oblivious to his attempts to seduce her she closed her eyes to think the question over "I am not sure, I had never considered it... however they will not be part yours or part mine they are completely ours." She smiled with her head resting on him enjoying the closeness and warmth as it started to aid the fatigue that was slowly taking her.

"I think perhaps you just like that word." She chuckled to himself and cuddled her. Small wonder her lover her, she made him so relaxed and happy. Even when their world had just turned on it's head again. "In any case, shh, sleep honey. Sleep and I'll make sure you're taken care of." She nuzzled her and hummed a tuneless melody to sooth her, hoping she'd soon take the rest she needed to carry their foals. His heart warmed at the thought. In so short a time his world had grown so.

"I do" She said with an exhale of breath and as her mind began to dream of their family her features and body full relaxed against him. His melody floating around the images of little versions of the two of them playing together and her family all around them. "This is love." It came out in a whisper as she let go of the last string keeping her attached to the waking world, trusting him entirely like she had so many nights and mornings before.
