Melvin continued walking, looking Rep over before a slow, manicured eyebrow rose. "You're not a third wheel, Rep. If you thought this really was a date between us.." To which he gestured between him and Rin. "...then erase that from your memory. It isn't. We're just getting out and hanging out. I wanted to go Christmas shopping and I need things since I awoke on the island when portals were down. I just didn't know who was showing up so I was a bit confused if you were that person or just passing by. If I hated you hanging around with me, then I would never talk to you at all."
He breathed out, reaching up to dust some snow off his hair and concentrating on that. "I like hanging out with you guys."

Rin settled down, good, they were no longer discussing how stupid she was being about the snow. Still. She shot Rep a pretty guilty look. Sure, she did forget to mention him to Melvin before hand but he was like... her best friend. His presence to her was sort of... an unspoken fact lately, at least when his guys weren't involved. Also, not a date. See Rep? Being silly.
She attempted to siiidle right up on Rep now, "What were you thinking of getting the guys?"

Rep nevertheless rolled his eyes, paranoia was something he was good at, and when Rin was involved, he tended to be even more unreasonable than usual. "Aye whatever, well next time you are just hanging out and need some random person, ask someone who isn't me. I'll leave tagging along until I'm the prime interest of the people I spend my limited leave time with. "
The snow went all but ignored by Rep, when he was consumed by his dramatic internal woes, most things tended to go unnoticed.
Melvin got a suspicious look for his last comment, which Rep was quick to chalk up to him simply trying to placate him as usual rather than any earnest comment of friendship.
He turned the full height of his scathing look on Rin. "Nothing? I'm here to get s**t for me."

Melvin caught the still grumpy tone, and then stopped dusting his hair to look over at the red-head. "Oh, you want my undivided attention then?" He smiled in a way that said that probably wasn't a good idea. If Rep wanted all his attention, at least until Melvin got to a store he wanted to check out, then so be it.
With Rin's question shot down, Melvin went on Rep's other side, ready with an arsenal of questions. "No presents for your boyfriends? Did you already give them something? Maybe knitted them something or did you just not have any ideas? It's not a good idea not to give the people you are sleeping with nothing for the holidays. You'll wind up sleeping on the floor."
You shouldn't have made that comment, Rep. Melvin is going to talk your ears off now.
He gave a look to Rin telling her she should feel free to jump in with her own form of laser-focused attention as well.

Rin offered Rep a defiant smirk as she finally moved in to try and lean against him, "You want to be our prime interest you say?" Rin smiled a bit too sweetly as she joined in Melvin's game. Only her questions were more directed at Rep, "What are you getting yourself then? Something furry? Something awesome? Am I going to be jealous? I bet I am going to be jealous. Maybe another tattoo? I want one too. We should get matching tattoos."

It wasn't fair. It really wasn't. No one deserved to have the number of questions Rin and Melvin were capable of levelled at them. Rep had been irritated, now it went to defensive as well. "No. Anything I ******** knitted I just knitted for the sake of it. I don't do presents." It hadn't been something he'd thought about and having these accusations levelled at him hurt a bit. Did it matter so ******** much to give s**t? "I won't be ******** sleeping on the floor." It sounded more hopeful and questioning than an assertive statement.
Rin got a long suffering and irritable look too. "Supplies." Though the mention of fur had him suddenly strongly desiring a fur coat or a rug.

It was exhausting trying to cheer this man up, so the Lifer was going to rely on Rep's rather quick mood changes to hopefully turn that frown upside down. Pushing it further wasn't his job in the end, though it would sour the outing if it kept up. Kid or not, Melvin still planned to get him a hot chocolate if the man didn't perk up at least a fraction of where he was at now.
"Supplies is what I'm going for too. I need my own things that haven't been shared by the entire populace of the island. A decent blanket and pillow for one thing." He said, just talking for the sake of talking and if anyone spotted a Bed, Bath, and beyond anywhere when they were walking.
"That and a decent restaurant." With good, spicy food. He'd need to go grocery shopping. They would defiantly be stealing a cart all the way to the portal.
"What are you after, Rin?"

Rin's smile softened a bit more genuinely before she made an attempt to give Rep a half hug, using the closeness to try and whisper something to him before releasing him and skipping on ahead, "I'm getting some chocolate for my stash and shampoo and soap I think. And gifts. But supplies first! I also mostly just wanted to try some new things while I was out. Like. I dunno. See a movie? Or... Get something pierced?"

Rep grudgingly tolerated the half hug only because punching a woman, let alone a woman with one arm probably wouldn't go down well in real world. He wasn't in the mood for people in his comfort zone. She got a momentarily scandalised stare which he quickly twisted into a nonplussed glower as she skipped ahead.
The mention of food though, seized his attention and he couldn't help but get a little twist of joy in his soul at the idea of indian food or something likewise fit to burn the mouth off of a lesser person. But then again, they could be anywhere and he doubted they did food here the way they did at home. Still. It had been a while since he ate anything really nice.
He wasn't buying presents though, what kind of thing was that to say? Now he'd be fretting the entire time that he should be doing something for the guys that he wasn't. What could he even get? They could buy whatever they wanted on their own.
Rin snapped him out of his worries with the mention of piercings, quirking a brow at her. "What would you get pierced?"

Rin set her jaw and turned to give the both of them a stern look. Surrounded. She was surrounded. She siiiighed, "Just my ears, you both are terrible." It wasn't intended to just be her ears. Some other time perhaps, when she wasn't surrounded....

Rep looked disappointed. Ears were nothing at all practically. "Pfft. Like. You don't need a piercing studio to pierce your ears man. See this?" He gestured pointedly at the runic artifact earring. "I just rammed this right in, Tracey fixed it up in no time. I'm practically a qualified piercer okay. And it barely even stung."
He snorted. "And here I thought you were like, going to say something like..daring."

Melvin also looked disappointed, but wasn't about to outright say it. "You can get your ears pierced at any store that sells earrings. You do have to buy a pair if you are getting your ears pierced." Women in earrings were actually pretty, as long as they didn't get something outrageously large. "You better not get something large like hoops or some horsemen is going to rip your ear off next time." He warned her, continuing their trek through the parking lot.
The blast of the heaters welcomed them once they entered the mall, and Melvin looked around to see Christmas decorations overhead, holiday sale signs in every window, and the jingle of Christmas music flooding overhead, faintly heard over the sound of children and shopgoers.
He took a deep breath. Normality. It was a sweet experience. "Where to first? If we're all getting supplies, a big department sore might be good. We should find a directory."

"Well then, what the hell do you guys find daring enough?" Rin scolded the both of them on her way inside. Her face burned red from the sudden shift in temperature. It was so... huge and grand. She almost seemed daunted. Monsters? No problem. Crowds of people in a super space leading to a shitton of stores? Possible problem.

Rep smirked at Melvin for his comment about huge earrings. Any horseman making the mistake of grabbing his would get tidal waved so hard they'd be dazed for days. "Aye listen to the guy who knows all about earrings." Apparently he was slowly forgetting about his bad mood in favour of teasing Melvin, it was a start.
Inside the mall Rep got out of the sweater he was wearing, too warm almost the second they got in. Music. Music was almost alien to him at this point, free untrapped music singing through the shopping center like it was going out of fashion. They didn't need runic meddling to listen to their music, they didn't have to bribe lab techs. They just hit play and they had speakers and that was that. He longed for a laptop and a set of speakers so badly it hurt sometimes.
He couldn't even resent the kitschy tunes, finding them more uplifting than he could ever remember.
Before he concerned himself with sorting out his supplies he gave Rin an almost condescending look. "Somewhere painful."
