She might as well sleep on it while she was at it.
There was no such thing as privacy and personal space here anymore.

He frowned at her.
Damn stubborn woman.
If this was with anyone OTHER than her, they would of given up a long time ago, but seriously, he had a feeling they would be arguing forever.

"FINE." he threw his hands up, exasperated. "If I go with you on your stupid little shopping trip, will you LEAVE ME ALONE after?"
PostPosted: Wed Dec 19, 2012 8:12 pm

"Maybe..." She didn't want to lie or anything. But she couldn't stop the smile that was growing on her face. "It's a good thing you decided to join me. Otherwise I might pick out the wrong thing and we can't have that, can we?"

"It's best to go in civilian clothes." She jumped to her feet, and promptly began to remove her hunter coat which she dropped on his bed. She was wearing her usual boots, leggings with denim shorts and a nice black sweater. For Sherry civilian simply meant no coat. Her scarf remained, since it hid the marks on her neck. "Oh." She started to fiddle with her belt. To Jake she said, "Do you have anything else you would rather wear?"

"I wouldn't bother wearing it. You're just wasting your money." he grumbled.
Speaking of money...

Hmm, he hadn't thought of that. He wasn't sure how much he racked up, but surely it was enough...

... wait. "Civilian" clothes?
He turned just in time to see Sherry toss her coat on his bed, and WHAT THE HELL WAS SHE DOING WITH HER BELT.

"Hey, hey, HEY." he held up a hand, hopefully stopping her from WHATEVER it was she was going to do. "If you're going to strip, GO DO IT IN YOUR OWN ROOM."

It was already bad enough she walked in on him shirtless, but now she was in here tossing her stuff about carelessly and GEEZ, WHAT WERE PEOPLE GOING TO THINK??

"These are my only clothes, ok? They're good enough. No one's going to pay attention to us anyways."
He had no intention on letting Sherry dress him up, sheesh.

"What?" Jake was given one very horrified look. "I am not, was not-" She looked down at her hands and started turning red again. She hadn't been- Well not- Oh, lord, had she been trying to send some kind of signal? Armagnac said yes and Sherry said no. "I am just taking my flask off, ok." She very quickly did so, keeping her eyes down. "I mean, I know most places in the US have laws against such things. Getting arrested is a bad idea."

She was pointedly not looking at him as she set her flask on top of her coat. "Well, we'll just have to get you some more before the horsemen tear those clothes up for good."

Leaving her stuff on his bed, she started towards the door. "Well then. Make sure you have your pendant, phone, and weapon, and lets go." She tossed him a quick glance. "We can go pretty much anywhere in the world. Any place in particular you'd like to go?"

...Right.
Whatever, he really didn't want to know.

"Then couldn't you just have taken the flask out?" he mumbled, somewhat relieved that she had decided to do just that.
He eyed the coat and flask she left on his bed... which meant she was going to come here to pick it up after they got back.
Ugh. UGH.

He grumbled, but made no further attempt at arguing because, well, even Chester was starting to agree.
Sherry's request only got a plain look. Why the hell would he ever forget to bring his weapon?
This time, it was Chester's turn to grumble.

"Not really." he muttered. "Anywhere but Rio."
As if they'd go to some messed-up place like that anyways to do shopping.

"Well, that still leaves us with a whole world," she began stepping out the door.

She didn't talk a lot during the walk to the portals. She still just couldn't believe...ugh. What was wrong with her?

No help. That's what you are.

Armagnac didn't respond.

"Alright," she began when they were finally there, thankful to have a new focus, "I'll handle most of the paperwork, but you need to make sure and pick up your fake ID and such."

To the tech she said, "Hi!" before making sure everything was in order. It looked like the portals were pretty busy that day, which was not surprising at all.

The moment he stepped out the door, he felt a strange sensation overcome him. Warm and... happy?

He shook his head. No, stop. He didn't want to feel these things, he-
wow, were they here already?

Sherry's question made him pause, and he blinked with confusion.
"Fake... ID?"
Heck, his whole identity was probably fake enough, considering he never knew what his last name really was, and his first name was probably something different too.

"I don't know," he muttered. "Just pick something."

Sherry should not have been surprised. Jake had been unenthusiastic about this from the get-go. She just shook her head and traded a few words with the tech.

The tech did a few things, made some notes, and did some other stuff; paper shuffling seemed to be his specialty. After a few minutes, he placed a few things on the counter. "There," he looked at Jake. "One ID, one debit card. Don't spend it all in one place." Turning back to Sherry he said, "Looks like you guys are all ready."

"Thanks!" Sherry smiled, then motioned for Jake to follow.

Leave! Actual leave. How long had it been since she'd been off the island for any reason that wasn't life or death? She couldn't remember. Once on the other side of the portal, Sherry took on deep, deep breath. It was a bit chilly, but nice and refreshing. It had clearly snowed in the area in recent days.

It looked like the tech had been good to his word and sent them to a place perfect for all their shopping needs. A massive mall in what was clearly the downtown area in some city. They could probably spend all day here, and still not see everything.

Jake only stared at the ID and debit card handed to him.
He probably wouldn't end up spending anything if he had his way, but... well, he still needed to pay Sherry back, so there was that.
Later though. Now wasn't the time, and knowing how stubborn she was, she'd probably refuse it.

Shoving the cards in his pocket, he trudged after Sherry, heaving a heavy sigh.
Just how he wanted to spend the holidays, wandering around in the real world doing who knows what, when those damn horsemen were probably plotting the end of civilization.

The moment he stepped through the portal, his face fell.
... Great. A freaking giant mall. They were going to be here FOREVER.

Sherry looked back at the trainee with a grin, but upon seeing his face she her smile faded a bit. "You don't look excited at all." Which was a shame, because she was very excited.

She sighed, just a little. "Don't worry. It'll be fun, and we'll make sure to get you all geared up for whatever." She turned as started walking towards the glorious building that awaited them. "What did you want to do first? I mean, we should probably take it a bit slow, since we have ages to kill." She paused for just a moment, thinking.

"Lunch. We should definitely do lunch at some point. Did you eat breakfast? We could grab something to eat now if you wanted. Oh, and I had wanted to see what movies might be playing; it's been ages since I was in a theater. We don't have to, of course, since I was planning that before I had company. And without question we will have to do some clothes shopping, and some Christmas shopping. I don't need too much myself, so we can focus on getting you dressed and on presents."

She stopped and wheeled around, looking Jake in the eye. "What do you want for Christmas?"

Sherry's disappointment was greeted with a very bored look.
"Hell, I didn't come here to have fun. I didn't even WANT to come here."
He was starting to think he should of refused, but then the girl would never leave his room and UGH, everything was so freaking complicated.

He wilted slightly as Sherry rattled on.
Something told him they were going to be here for a LONG long time.
Part of him almost hoped the horsemen would attack so that it'd give him something to do. Actually, it seemed rather preferable then spending time wandering the mall for hours and doing things that, that NORMAL people did. Sheesh.

Sherry's question only got a very scrutinizing look.
What did she THINK he wanted. None of this, that's for sure.

"Peace and QUIET, which is something I highly doubt you, or half the damn island will be able to give me."
PostPosted: Thu Dec 20, 2012 6:29 pm

Armagnac was feeling rather pleased about something.

Sherry just looked at Jake. Perhaps it was the lack of pure Joy in the air, or maybe it was just the fact that sometimes she was a little slow on the uptake. She had forced him to join her, and that wasn't very nice, was it? Sadness tinged with regret crept into her voice. "That is something I can give you, if you really want it. I mean, I do understand the want for peace and quiet."

She sighed, and smiled lightly. "But only after we get you outfitted. Are you telling me you can't feel the cold right now?" She reached out one hand and poked him in the stomach. "Because I would call you a liar." It was cold, Jake.

"So, I suppose you can leave after that, if you really want to. I will stay and relax, all on my own." She shrugged, turned, and continued towards the doors. "Though I have to wonder, is there anything you do consider fun?"

Jake frowned. He really didn't care.

Shut up.

There may of been JOY in the air, but not enough to completely affect him, or at least, not for a while.
After a long period of exposure to it though, just maybe...

He swatted her hand away when she poked him.
"Keep your hands to yourself." he muttered.
Her offer was really, really tempting, and he almost pulled out the pendant to go back.

Really. What are you gonna do about it?

OK, I GET IT.

He wasn't sure what was worse, wandering the mall with Sherry for hours or being back at Deus with a useless weapon and head filled with cheesy Christmas songs.

"I DON'T. I didn't come to Deus to have fun."
Huffing, he looked around.
"Well, are we just going to stand here all day or actually get a move-on?"
PostPosted: Thu Dec 20, 2012 7:19 pm

"Of course we are getting a move on," she did just that. "There just isn't much of a rush." She shrugged and continued speaking, "I didn't mean to completely upset yo--"

Sherry's wince would have been visible to anyone looking.

"I mean. It's leave. It's supposed to be fun. You can't just sit around and sulk all day. Well, I guess you can. But why would you?" Her musings were all rather rhetorical. It was Jake, after all.

Reaching the doors first, she opened one and ushered the death trainee inside.

The mall was ready for Christmas. Oh, so very ready. Music, decorations, crowds, it had everything. Sherry just about forgot her sadness. She might not have been Christmas's biggest fan (well, really her aversion was to crazy traditions like mistletoe), but she had to admit it was pretty.

"So. What do you want to do first? Shop or eat?"

He caught that wince, Sherry, he caught that wince.
"Seems both our weapons are being royal pain in asses aren't they?" he muttered.
Chester only made an unpleasant noise.

"Oh, gee, I don't know, maybe use the time to TRAIN and prepare for the next horsemen attack? While we're off doing stupid stuff like shopping, they're planning, plotting... we're gonna get our asses kicked again at this rate."

All work and no play, that was what Jake was.
Whatever, he was stuck here for the moment, so there really wasn't anything he could do about it, so he only trudged through the door that Sherry held open.

Music. Decorations.
Everything was so damn loud and bright and gaudy and geez, he hated this place so much.

"Whatever, don't care. I'm not hungry, and I really could care less about shopping."

That really didn't give Sherry much to work with, but he didn't care as his arms were crossed, glaring at anyone who so much as glanced their way.
