Pea Meets Shayne. Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar Rinion follows his half-sister, Lenore, into the building she called the HQ. In his arms is Shayne, whom is bigger than when he found her.
Shayne looks a little grumpy, and Rinion has a pretty good idea. She was happy, until he let Lenore put her silver hair up into pigtails.
Rinion's starry, night-blue eyes shift to look over at the vampiress that is his sister, and finds her grinning. "I think she looks cute," she says, snickering.
Shayne narrows her fushia eyes at Lenore, and then turns away from her.
Rinion shifts on his booted feet. "Anyway, you said there might be others around this place? That Shayne would be able to make friends?"
Lenore shrugs. "Here's hoping. . . ." kaliskanny Kali wandered into the HQ, shifting Pea in her arms a little. She looked around to see if anyone else was about, "Hello?" Pea looked around the room, his pacifier bobbing in thought.Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar Lenore and Rinion turn at the sound of voices. They hadn't wandered too far inside the building. In fact, they are probably within sight of the Pae and his care-taker.
"Good evening, miss," Rinion says, inclining his head a little.
Lenore chuckles and shakes her head a little. "Hello," she says, then turns her amber, serpentine eyes to look at her half brother. "I guess I was right, Rinion."
Rinion gives Lenore a small smile, and shifts Shayne's weight on his hip. He holds out his hand to the new woman, and says, "My name is Rinion Silme, and this is Shayne. The woman with the green hair is my half sister, Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar."
Shayne turns her head to look at the woman and the colorful boy. Her fushia eyes are curious, especially when she sees the Pae. kaliskanny Kali shook the hand, "Kaliska Nny. This is Pea." Pea just bobbed the pacifier when he was presented to the others. He looked them over cooly, as if commiting them to memory.Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar "It is a pleasure to meet both of you," Rinion says, before releasing Kali's hand.
"Yeah, what he said," Lenore replies, smiling a little. "Do you think you are going to be alright if I leave you, now, Rinion? I need to go eat."
Rinion turns his starry eyes back to his sister, and nods. He then watches her leave, before looking back at Kali again. "Sorry, I've never been here before," he explains. "My sister has two of these children herself, so she was showing me around."
Shayne narrows her eyes a little when Pea looks at her, commiting him to memory as well. She then reaches up a small hand, and tugs on Rinion's long bangs. When he sets her down on the ground, her tail taps lazily behind her as she cranes her head back to keep her eye on the other Pae. kaliskanny "I was here a long time ago...I had another Pae, but had to give him up do to travels," Kali sighs, looking at Pea. "I don't think I could give this little one up." Pea tilted his head so he could see the other, bobbing the pacifier in curiosity. He yawned, nearly dropping it, before closing his mouth quickly.Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar "I'm sorry to hear that," Rinion says, frowning a little. "Well, at least there is some good news in your life," he adds, looking over at Pea and giving him a warm smile, before glancing down at Shayne again.
Shayne watches Pea a moment, before leaning back on Rinion's legs, patting the toes of his shiney, black leather boots.
Rinion bends forward to pick up Shayne again. When he stands again, he pushes his long hair behind his shoulders. "Shall we go an find someplace to sit?" he asks, stepping aside. Ladies first. kaliskanny Kali nodded, headign towards the seating area she'd found the night before. She sat down, settling the baby in her lap. She brushed a hand over his hair. Pea closed his eyes, then opened them to stare at the ceiling.Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar Rinion follows, looking around and studying his surroundings.
He finds a seat across from Kali, and sinks into it, letting Shayne down on the floor again.
"Does Pea give you much trouble?" Rinion asks, offerring Kali a small smile.
Shayne, however, is on the floor, slowly scooting closer to where Pea is. She wonders if he will be able to play? Daddy is fun and all, but she needs someone to play with every once in a while. . . . kaliskanny "No...he's quiet. He seems curious a lot....very noticeable of his surroundings," Kali smiled in return, watching the toddler. "She seems calmser than the little boy that was in here last night..with another Pae." Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar "That's good," Rinion comments. "Maybe he will be a fast learner."
Then, he looks down at Shayne, whom is still inching closer and closer. He watches her until she is sitting in front of Kali, and looking up at the Pae in her arms. "Yes, well. She can be terribly loud when she doesn't like something. . . . You should have heard her when Lenore was fixing her hair this morning," he says, wincing a little at the memory, his pointed ear twitching. "It isn't a nice sound to those with sensitive ears such as mine. . . . "
But, he smiles. "Other than that, though, she seems to be rather well-behaved." He then tilts his head a little, and quirks a dark eyebrow up. "Who did you and Pea meet last night?" kaliskanny "I don't think I caught their names..." Kali blinked, looking up. She shrugged, "It's not coming to mind." Pea turned and watched the toddler, he shrugged an arm free of the swaddle and wiggled his fingers like he'd seen the other toddler do.Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar Shayne blinks, once, staring at Pae. She then giggles a little, before her brow furrows in concentration. She lifts her little hand up, and tries to wiggle her fingers. She claps when she does it, and beams over at her Daddy with a proud smile.
Rinion smiles back at Shayne, and watches her turn her attention back to Pea. "Ah, I see," Rinion replies, nodding his head a little.
Shayne pats her legs, lazily, in rythm with the tattooing of her tail on the floor. She smiles at Pae, testing to see if he knows how to smile. kaliskanny Pea watched her, his pacifier bobbing in rythem with her tail. He didn't get what she was doing.Kali watched the toddler, smiling a little. "When Pea's older, it looks like he'll have lots of friends." Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar Rinion smiles again, and nods. "Yes, it certainly seems as though that is a real possibility." After a pause, he asks, "Are you going to allow Pea to live on the island when he is old enough?"
Shayne tilts her head to the side, the pigtails bouncing with the movement, and frowns a little. She taps her tail on the floor in a faster rhythm, waching Pea. kaliskanny "Yeah, I think when he's old enough to be on his own, I'll let him live here," She nodded, watching him. Pea bobbed his pacifier faster, keeping up. His dark grey eyes watching the little girl.Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar Rinion nods. "I was thinking the same thing. That is, if Shayne wants to live here. If she wants to stay in the manor with Krista and I, then that will be fine," he says, smiling a little.
Shayne smiles a little, sort of catching on to the game. "Silly," she says, clapping her hands a little.
Rinion blinks. "Oh, my! She just said her first word," he laughs a little, shaking his head. "What an odd first word, too. . . ."
Shayne giggles, and glances back at Daddy. Shaking her head, she switches her tail-tattoo to a different tempo, watching the pacifier now. kaliskanny "Aww...that sweet. I think she's calling Pea 'silly'," Kali snickered, watching the two play their game. Pea's changed the bobbing of his pacifier, his eyes crinkling in a sort of smile.Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar "I think so, too," Rinion comments.
There it is! Eye crinkling equals a smile, right? Shayne grins, and reaches up to touch the outer corners of her eyes. Yep, hers crinkle too.
Well, finally! She knows the other one is capable of smiling as well. She changes the beat of her tapping again, her tiny wings flapping a little now. kaliskanny Pea changed the bobbing, trying to flap his wings too. He's not very good at it. Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar Shayne giggles again, kicking her feet a little. Maybe if she makes a face, he will try to mimic that? She might even be able to get him to spit that pacifier out so she can see him smile. Hmm. . . .
Tilting her head to the side again, Shayne closes her eyes and sticks her tongue out. She then giggles again, and opens her eyes, resuming her studying of Pea. kaliskanny Pea paused in sucking on his pacifier, blinking. He didn't understand why she made the face. Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar Shayne pouts a little, and looks away from Pea. Alright, he needs to start being able to understand!
Tapping the tip of her tail against the floor again, she thinks.
Huffing a little, she crosses her arms over her chest. In a sort of sign language, she pops her thumb in her mouth, and lifts her eyebrows. She then pulls her thumb out of her mouth, and sticks her tongue out at Pea again.
She hopes he understands what she is saying. If he doens't, she won't be able to think of anything else. kaliskanny Pea blinked at Shayne, still not getting it. What was up with the faces? Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar Shayne huffs, and sort of throws her hands into the air in defeat, like she has seen her cousin Nyoka do when she is talking to her daughter.
Rinion chuckles, and covers his mouth with his hand when Shayne glares at him. "I think someone is getting grouchy," he comments. With that, he stands up, and walks the few steps over to Shayne. He scoops her up in his arms, and she clings to his elven, tunic front. "I had best get her home. It is past her bedtime. . . ." He reaches up and tugs gently on one of Shayne's pigtails, which gets an irritated tail flick from her. "It was a pleasure meeting you and Pea. I hope to see you again soon," he says, inclining his head once more to Kali.
Then, he waves, and starts for the door. Before he slips out, Shayne peeks over Rinion's shoulder, and beams at Pea, giving him a wave goodbye, copying her Daddy. kaliskanny Kali nodded, standing and following them out. "I'd better get him home to bed as well." Pea watched them leave, then stared at his surroundings as he was carried home.

Pea became a toddler today. He's growing up so fast. Still won't relinquish his pacifier though.
