"Oh, no," he laughed, when she asked him if he apologized people into submission. If only his magic worked so well! He would win every fight without having to fight, and they would all leave feeling pretty okay about everything. But no, he simply got punched a lot and sometimes got knocked unconscious. "I just apologize because I feel bad, and would rather not fight!"
He chuckled and then watched her, looking at her weapon and thinking it was pretty cool, though he supposed it would not do much by way of fighting anyone. His magic, likewise, was not built for fighting. But at least it was built for support. It wasn't just a useless weapon.
Of course, any weapon in his hands would be useless.
After a moment he moved to close her hands over the beads of energy she was offering him leaving his hand over hers and smiling brightly at her, despite how battered he looked.
"It's okay, you can keep them! I know you need them for your quota, and I have magic that can heal me. That's all my magic does, actually. Heal people. So it's okay! I appreciate the offer though, and I forgive you for attacking me! It was my fault for being in the wrong place and not being more aware."
He chuckled and beamed at her, clearly forgetting that she had just been pummeling him into the ground.

Zircon couldn't help it. She just stared, bloody bruises and all.
"...How are you even real?" she asked, re-pocketing her small collection. Out of curiosity, she poked him lightly on the arm, as if he might turn to dust if she discovered the illusion.
"Does your healing keep you from losing hope or something?" She grunted, then pulled herself up to her feet, looking into the distance and thinking of all the other battles being fought right this moment. It was daunting, once she put any thought behind it, and already she blanched at the idea.
"I mean...how does this not get to you? The Senshi? The Negaverse? This whole war?" These things weighed on Zircon every time she powered up, and it was clearly wearing her down, based on her earlier outburst. If she was going to keep her head cool, she needed to know his secret.

Virtus smiled at her sweetly, laughing.
"I think I'm real! I've never had anyone ask me that before, but I've always been pretty sure I'm real." He might have almost known she was being metaphorical, though for the most part things like that were beyond him. He was not the best with ironic language or things like sarcasm an metaphor. Very literal at the best of times, he was gullible and a bit dopey to boot.
But at least he was sweet, and didn't take anything personally, even when someone pointed out his mistakes.
"I think I've always just been a happy person, and it's hard to shake that! I know that things always work out, and the worse they get, the better it feels. It's important to just keep on trying and working hard, because even if things are bad for me sometimes, I know that I can still help others if I stay positive."
He smiled at her and nodded his head, thinking he had managed to put his philosophy into words rather well. Not that he usually had to think about it, since it did just come naturally to him.
"I don't like to fight, and I don't like to see people hurt, but I know that I can help my friends and the people that took me in, and that means a lot to me. So I might not be a soldier... but I am still doing my best! That helps me keep any bad feelings or sadness away."

"I see. I'll keep that in mind."
Zircon turned to face Virtus, then hesitated for a moment before extending a hand to help him up. Later on, when she was tucked away with nothing but her own thoughts, this moment would likely haunt her. For now, she did her best to keep her chin up and keep moving forward. It seemed to be working for him, at least.
"I guess I never introduced myself," said the woman with the tilt of her head, her aviators lilting to one side. "I'm Lieutenant Zircon, let's get you cleaned up."
