Mortals were weird. How could he find it so difficult to be completely honest, was he afraid that she would hurt him? She was beginning to think she would need to have a very long talk with her fellow gods, maybe knock some sense into them with a coconut. Unsurprisingly, she looked somewhat unimpressed by his response and peered at him searchingly for a few more moments - it may have made him uncomfortable though this wasn't her intention, she was merely weighing up her options.
This was not her forte, she didn't know how she was meant to act.
Nevertheless she eventually made up her mind and what was once a rather large lioness, soon became a very small, white hare. She gave herself a little shake, stood on her hind paws and then gave her tail a wiggle. Satisfied that everything was intact she hopped after Sema again.
"I prefer to make others happy when they're near me and you are not very happy, you're scared," she replied and offered him a now buck-toothed smile. "Just don't eat me, everyone tries to eat me when I'm like this...and I'm really not that appetising."

The adage that cautioned blinking put one at risk of missing life's milestones was one he'd always taken to heart. Never like this, though. When he complained he blinked and his siblings were grown, he blinked and his pride was in shambles -- so on and so forth, he hadn't meant it literally.
This time, he literally did nothing more than blink and suddenly a Goddess was a hare. What a world.
Sema had been braced for a mortal lioness, not something one would eat. Against his better judgement -- perhaps too awe-struck to care -- he crouched down with his belly against the sand and marveled.
The first thing out of his mouth? "Have you ever been a cheetah?"
He'd always wondered what it was like to run that fast...

He wasn't quite as relaxed as she would have liked him to be, but at least his curiosity had gotten to him and he was beginning to ask questions. She'd been concerned up until now that he might never relax, particularly when she knew no other way to help him than to disappear! Nevertheless, she did sit down on her hindpaws and rested her forepaws against his nose as she tried to recall what forms she had and hadn't been. The short years of her life in mortal realms darted by and after a few moments she provided him with a slow shake of her head.
"I don't think I've ever been a cheetah," she replied at last and examined her paws. "I turned into a leopard once because one of my friends is a leopard, but I was still bigger than most and that just made things awkward," she continued. She heaved a dramatic sigh, as if recalling the memories of that day when really she had moved on to a different thought entirely.
"Truthfully I like this form a lot," she admitted, patting her furry belly fondly. "When I'm not being chased for food everyone wants to cuddle me," she leaned him and gave him a sly wink. "I think it's because I'm fluffy, everyone likes something fluffy and soft, no?" A momentary pause soon followed and she pursed her lips together. "That being said I could probably turn into a cheetah now if you wanted!"

Sema hadn't meant to conjure up a sour memory. He looked a bit rueful for having done it, but as the subject shifted to things less contrite -- talk of hares and being chased -- he was relieved to play along.
If a lion could visibly blush, he would have been. Just a slight tint of red to his face. It wasn't every day a Goddess winked at you... as prey.
"That being said I could probably turn into a cheetah now if you wanted!"
He hesitated, then shook his head. "I should be heading back, but I thank you for your time." After the most respectful bow he can manage, he turned and started for home.
