Darsha's jaw dropped as the green emerged from her shell. She'd never seen a dragon hatch, and the little green was so alert and bold. Darsha admired the way she prowled the sands, a queen in a green hide. For the first time, Darsha found herself considering the possible merits of the revolution. A green like this had a lot of potential. But would she get to live up to that here? Her attention was too drawn to the little hatchling and the other eggs to spend a great deal of time mulling over political philosophy however, and soon the thought was all but forgotten.

Nyasa had been at Trine for but a few weeks, and in that time had acquired a clingy little green flitt. The tiny creature demanded near-constant attention, always wanting to be fed or held. She had thought the miniature dragon might be useful, and at last, the thing proved her right when mid-feeding it stopped and started flapping about excitedly. Nyasa was about ready to swat it to make it calm down when the humming began.
‘ Ah, the Hatching is ready to begin.’
Distractedly stuffing another sliver of meat into the little green’s mouth, Nyasa grabbed the flitt and put it in the little basket bed she had made for it before making her way towards the hatching grounds. Slipping into fringes of those seated in the Stands, Nyasa joined the multitude of people watching the eggs and waiting.
One tiny little egg flopped away from its siblings, which Nyasa arched an eyebrow at. Anti-social already and not even hatched? How amusing. And when the first egg finally did hatch, it was a green that first prowled the sands. And prowled it did. Weren’t greens supposed to be like old aunties or empty-headed girls? This green certainly didn’t seem like that. Much though she dislike Weyrs and traditional riders, she still found herself interested in seeing whom these hatchlings would choose. And of course, what would happen to the… misplaced eggs. If they were Hatching, she hoped someone worthy was near them. It would be a pity for such potential to be wasted.

The awkwardly dubbed 'Brown' green stalked up to the candidates and then came to a halt. Looking up at them she gave another slow blink, running her eyes slowly from one end of the rough semi circle, to the other, and back again. Giving a low rumble she padded towards Darsha and bent her head to sniff at the girl's sandals. Apparently not finding what she was looking for she turned away and made instead for Medura. This time she rumbled to herself and walked a slow circle around the candidate. Coming to a halt in front of her once more she raised her head, appearing to study the young woman's burned face.
From the other section of the sands an abrupt eerie cry rang out, tearing the crowd's attention away from the 'Brown' green, back onto the Do Not Disturb egg, or at least the place where it had been. Standing in the remnants of her shell was another green; this one had an almost jade-like hue to her hide, and her eyes were like two pieces of amber. Mantling her wings the small dragonet hissed at the spectators, radiating even more hostility now than she had from inside her egg.

S'kiro looked to the dragons watching, spotting his large blue, standing with his wings out to even watch with the smaller dragons. Rider and dragon watched with quite enthusiasm as the first two eggs hatched. He still remembered all of his time on the Sands, waiting. He smiled at the best memory, Impressing Neptanth.

Medura looked at the Brown egg green peering down at the green even as the green peered up at her staring at her burned face. No Medura would not look away. She wasn't ashamed of her burns. They were just a part of who she was, but not what she was. Giving the green a small nod of greeting and a smile little smile she waited to see what the dragon would do even as yet another green burst from it's shell to hiss out it's anger at them all.
Well this was just well. . .hopefully there would be no maulings.

Siano watched the eggs with anticipation. This was it! Soon she would be too old to impress however she still had today. Her heart sung as the first eggs began to crack and shiver on the sand. Soon there would be dragonets about.

[Wen] Wen shifted slightly on the sands, watching the eggs, then the people in the stands, and then higher up at the dragons and the sky. He was a bit wary of sudden unwanted visitors, be it his flits or perhaps a rather stupid revolutionary rider. They would have to be rather sketchy to attempt a raid during a hatching but they had made off with eggs so close to cracking he found them rather inept.
The Do not disturb egg shifted, grabbing his attention. He remembered that egg and the sharp mental slap of go away. The egg did not like it clutch mates consider it rolled away a bit farther. It was the brown egg though that exploded. Hatching into a rather bright green that reminded him an awful lot of Cat. Pretty, but more than likely not for him. Wen had one feline predatory snitching flit to many, he didn't need a dragon as independent, even if she moved beautifully.
He turned his head back to the Do not Disturb egg and gave a soft grunt. He had guessed wrong, but close. The little green was a more subtle jade shade and she didn't seem any more friendly or pleased hatched as she had been in the shell. Wen admired her, wishing to see her move and if the angry jade had the same lovely stride as the feisty 'brown egg' green.

[Carltis]
He had to admit that green wasn't what he was looking for. Yes, he knew, that was awful but what he wanted was a silver. He had to admit he liked the confidence the first one showed, and the fire of the second was impressive. Either one would make a fine bondmate he was sure... he should be more open. Silvers were rare; what were the chances of there evening being one in these clutches, even considering one of the mothers was crimson? Not great, that was what the chances were.
Taking a deep breath and letting it out again Carltis willed himself to let go of his prejudices. Any dragon. Any dragon would do. Any dragon would be wonderful, perfect even. He didn't want to walk away a failure again today.

Aleck leaned over the edge of the stands, trying to ignore the press of people. He wasn't here to impress in either sense of the word; he was here for his father, and that was why he watched the dragons break shell with such intent - a mauling would send the healer lumbering with haste over the sands. It was easy - too easy - to imagine thin scar tissue tearing, or large crescent claws ripping through flesh like paper-
He shook the wher out of his mind.

Ah, there was the anti-social dragon baby. Another green. Anti-social and angry, apparently; amusing indeed. Nyasa crossed her arms over her chest, the majority of her attention drawn to the hissy baby.
‘ Hiss all you like Green, but you’ll pick or go between. If you’ve got half a brain you’ll find someone to put up with.’

[Berath & Bereck] Up high on a perch Berath looked down on the sands, crooning as another green cracked her shell. she cooed to HerHealer and HerHatchling. Bereck snorted and shook his head slightly at the suggestion, turning to look up at the green with a raise of his eyebrows she probably wouldn't be able to make out but would be able to feel. Just the sort of dragon that looked likely to cause the kind of trouble he could do without.
Berath rebuked gently, eyes still spinning a happy bright blue.
Bereck shook his head again and looked away from the green, scanning the Stands for familiar faces instead. He couldn't pick out Aleck amongst the sea of faces to raise a hand in greeting or anything of the kind though and so he turned his attention back to the angry looking green hatchling....
He would just about kill for a cup of klah right now. Somehow he doubted he could get away with having his flitts bring him one, masterhealer or no.

The 'Brown' green kept staring for a few moments and then reared up on her hind legs to get a better look. As she did so a shriek rang across the sands, and little Do Not Disturb charged. Eyes blazing orange she did not slow as she approached the candidates; most leapt out of her way but a few slow ones were bowled over, and might have caught a lick of her claws. Her destination was clear enough; she was heading for the other green. Larger sturdier 'Brown' dropped back onto all fours and turned to face off against the green with the otherworldly scream, answering with a throaty roar of her own. The pair clashed at Medura's feet, and though the jade-hided green was bold she was not strong, and the 'Brown' soon had her pinned. Snarling her displeasure the 'Brown' cuffed her sister across the cheek, just hard enough to break the hide and leave droplets of ichor oozing out. The smaller green shrieked her anger and squirmed around in the sand, supple as a little whip. Eventually she managed to free herself and scrambled upright, raising her wings to make herself look bigger and hissing at her sibling. Abruptly, as the little green panted for breath, Medura would hear a voice in her mind and feel a presence in her heart. Unmoved by the display 'Brown' settled her wings by her sides and glared; it didn't seem as though she had any intention of attacking again. ((Anyone on the sands is free to say Syth knocked them down and or scratched them! Injuries are minor; they won't stop you Impressing and don't need immediate treatment.))

[Bereck]
Shards!
Bereck grimaced as the small green ploughed through the ranks of candidates, counting off another reason he was glad Aleck wasn't there. As he sent Sanguine off to check that there were no serious injuries however he mentally allowed that it wouldn't actually have been an issue; Aleck had the sense to move his backside when angry dragons were charging.
Sanguine's swift analysis of injuries 'notbad' made the healer relax a little, but not fully; there was a real tussle going on between the greens, one that could easily roll over a none too bright candidate who just stood there gawking.
It seemed that the angry thing wouldn't be a problem anymore though; got to her feet and seemed to have Impressed to a girl Bereck thought he'd seen around the Starcrafting rooms. Revolving to ask Alina later he turned his attention back onto the green still on the Sands.

Siano smiled as the green bonded. And whispered congrats to the bonded. She was happy that the green did not go between. The Do Not Disturb egg was showing a little action now.

Wen moved out of the jade green hatchlings way. She did not have the same grace as the larger green and in her anger didn't care about smacking into some of the slower candidates. Wen kept where he was, noting most of the injuries as superficial. There had been no spray of blood and if the green had caught a candidate by surprise it should be simple scratches.
He glanced up, catching a glimpse of his flits and turned back to the dragons. The green's were facing off, like a pair of canines over a bone. The 'brown green' won, but it seemed the little jade green had chosen. Wen eyed the girl, faintly recalling the other candidate from the touching. The 'brown green' at least did not seem angered at being interrupted. She was being amazingly calm. Wen admired that.
